Overview

About

Embark on an adventure through the scenic landscapes of Mowbray National Park. Traverse the historic Bump Track, witness the grandeur of Black Mountain, and explore the lush rainforest teeming with unique wildlife. While camping isn't available within the park, nearby Speewah Conservation Park offers a cosy spot to rest amidst the natural splendour.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Mowbray National Park is during the cooler, drier months from May to September. Enjoy pleasant warmth with reduced humidity and average maximum temperatures of 26°C. The wet season, from December to April, brings heavy rains and potential park closures, making it less suitable for visits.

Know before you go

  • Check park alerts for temporary closures due to weather or maintenance before planning your visit.
  • Be prepared for the tropical climate; carry water, wear a hat, and apply sunscreen.
  • Drive cautiously on Black Mountain Road, especially after rain when conditions can be slippery.
  • Respect the wildlife; cassowaries are present and can be dangerous.
  • Remember, domestic animals are not permitted in the park, ensuring the protection of local fauna.
