This is one of only two camp sites on a 200-acre parcel of secluded, rural farm land. We are a working pasture based farm where you can see how grass fed beef, pork, chicken, and eggs are produced. There's nothing quite like fresh eggs and bacon after waking up to the sunrise over a fog-filled valley! We have a wide variety of grass fed beef, pasture raised pork, snack sticks for long hikes, and dog bones for your furry friends. Many of our items are well suited for campfire cooking. Keep in mind that all our products are frozen so be sure to plan for time to thaw. If you're not sure what that involves - we're here to help. We are a working farm but, much of our property is not grazed or farmed. You are welcome to explore the entire area while also getting a glimpse of sustainable, pasture-based, farming methods. Please do not enter the animal enclosures or touch any of the electrified fence lines. Red House Ranch is also the perfect spot for wildlife enthusiasts and bird watchers. During your stay you may encounter eagles, blue herons, coyotes, turtles, wild turkeys, foxes, the endangered bobolink bird (its unique call sounds a bit like R2D2), deer, great horned owls, and many unique plants. It's not uncommon to hear the coyotes howling at night. In addition to hiking trails with incredible views, there are four ponds on the property easily accessible with mown paths. One is very large with a dock and suitable for swimming, paddling, fishing, or just relaxing but the water. The other three are smaller and are now primarily wildlife habitat. easily accessible with mown paths If you're feeling adventurous, there is a more strenuous hike down into the creek bed where you can find miniature versions of the gorges and waterfalls that our region is known for. We are happy to provide maps and guidance or leave you to your own devices. When skies are clear our area has very little light pollution and excellent star visibility. It's a great place to view the night sky during a meteor shower. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we enjoy living in the beautiful Southern Tier/Finger Lakes area!

Just 2 miles above the SUNY Binghamton Campus. This camp offers a Country/Forest/Meadow/Creek setting with 4 acres is just 2 miles above SUNY Binghamton Campus on a quite road in the Town of Vestal. Set up at "Sunny Meadow" for open lawn closer to driveway and port-a-potty. Maybe you feel like hanging hammocks to setting the tent at "Creek Side" site down deeper in the forrest. The property runs from Brown Rd. to Powderhouse Rd. All 4 corners are marked with bird houses and along the property line on the North. A fire pit area with benches and lots of level space to pitch tents. Our close to nature spot offers open level lawn, rolling forest and Sugar Creek passing through. Property is lined with Blue Bird houses along with an Owl House, Bat House and a Fox Den.(Not sure what's been occupied so far.) We are building a nature preserve with song birds singing, frogs crooking and deer passing though the area. The road features some beautiful homes and ask guests to show courtesy and to be a good neighbor. Please understand that our property is in the process of removing the dying Ash Trees (Emerald Ash Borer is a problem) and ask for campers to set up near open area/driveway and not the site in the middle of the woods. We are just going to be extra cautious until our removal and re-planting process is completed.**PLEASE NOTE** Cell service is 1/4 mile at top of hill going North toward Fuller Howell Rd.

Wild Animal - Safety Warnings All it takes is one wrong move in the woods and you could have an unwanted guest at your campsite. Here’s a list of 10 things you can do to keep your family camping trip safe and secure from potentially dangerous animals. 1. Eliminate odors from food and supplies Black bears roam all over the Pocono Mountains with a population of more than 18,000 in the Poconos alone, making them a common concern amongst campers. It’s not only trash that will attract a bear; toiletry items such as toothpaste, soap, lotions, deodorant or bug sprays (especially citronella) should be secured from bears as well. To keep your food, supplies and gear away from bears, there are several different ways to keep them out of a bears reach. You could keep them in a hard-sided vehicle, a certified food storage container, or put it all in a bag and hang it between two trees at least 10 feet from the ground. 2. Stop by the store and grab the basics Stock up your packs with flashlights and bear spray to keep in the tent at night. Flashlights can always be useful to help find things and point you in the right direction when walking at night. The bear spray, on the other hand, is a purchase that you most likely and hopefully will never use but is something worth having for that extra piece of mind when you hear rustling in the woods. 3. Get loud! It might seem strange, but being loud will keep many of the furry creatures out of sight. With that said, if you have close-by neighbors, don’t cause a full out ruckus. The sounds of the campfire crackling, voices, and other man-made sounds like car engines usually do the trick in scaring off wildlife. 4. Keep pets on leash… always As much as you may love and trust your pets to stay close by, it’s not worth the risk of letting them roam off on their own. An alternative to always holding the other end of the leash is buying a spiral stake to put in the ground to keep the pup close by while granting him or her a little freedom to roam. Keep in mind Birds of Prey are all around. You may even spot a bald eagle or two during your stay. Keep in mind these majestic birds of prey won’t think twice about snatching your small dog. 5. Be ready for the non-furry threats When it comes to snakes, be particularly careful if you move logs or brush as most snakes get to moving when their environment is tampered with. If snakes are a high concern of yours in a particular area, consider wearing sturdy boots and gloves when moving such things. 6. Keep your distance Most animals will scare off easily from a far distance. However, in the instance of getting a bit too close to a bear or other animal, you should brush up on what to do in the event that you are in a face-to-face situation. While these circumstances are extraordinarily rare, it is better to be prepared than to make a wrong move. 7. Wear different clothes cooking and to bed Have you ever gone to a restaurant and can distinctly smell the food even hours after you’ve left? The same happens in the wilderness. Cooking smells cling to fabric and can attract bears, making the clothes you wore while making dinner not the best pajamas. Store your “cooking clothes” in an airtight bag or container to reduce the risk of any wildlife catching a whiff. 8. Keep it clean Your campsite, that is. Continuously making an effort to scrub pots and pans and picking up trash throughout the day’s adventures will work wonders in making it less of a task to keep your site pest free. 9. Consider a bear proof cooler, especially for car camping Definitely not necessary, but it is a precaution that might be suitable for some. If your cooler is on its last leg and you are looking for an upgrade, there are always certified bear tested coolers that are sure to keep your food and beverages cold and the bears locked out. 10. Know the area you are in One of the sharpest tools you can have up against wildlife is knowledge and familiarity with the woods you will be setting up camp in. For information on the wildlife in the area, you can seek out tips from the local park ranger or wildlife official. Getting outdoors for a camping adventure is an enjoyable, freeing experience that is almost never dangerous, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to be prepared in the event of an unlikely guest. Staying safe from poisonous plants while camping just got easier! Poison ivy and poison oak, spread across most of North America, can ruin a perfectly good camping trip. These dangerous plants can be found almost anywhere when camping, whether in open fields, wooded areas, roadsides, or riverbanks. Poison oak and poison ivy trigger an itchy rash on contact. Worse, if the leaves get into a campfire , the same chemical can get into your lungs, causing extreme pain which may require medical attention. Campground owners and operators should always be conscious of their campers’ safety. Though most experienced campers can recognize poison oak and poison ivy and avoid accidental contact, a novice might rely only on posted warnings near the plants. Our Poison Ivy and Poison Oak Warning Signs provide clear and concise warnings for campers, helping them have a safe and stress-free camping experience. Prevent Lyme Disease Before gardening, camping, hiking, or just playing outdoors, make preventing tick bites part of your plans. Lyme disease is spread by the bite of an infected tick. In the United States, an estimated 476,000 infections are diagnosed and treated each year. If you camp, hike, work, or play in wooded or grassy places, you could be bitten by an infected tick. People living in or visiting the mid-Atlantic states, and the upper Midwest are at greatest risk. Infected ticks can also be found in neighboring states and in some areas of Northern California, Oregon and Washington. But you and your family can prevent tick bites and reduce your risk of Lyme disease. Protect Yourself from Tick Bites Know where to expect ticks. Blacklegged ticks (the ticks that cause Lyme disease) live in moist and humid environments, particularly in and near wooded or grassy areas. You may get a tick on you during outdoor activities around your home or when walking through leaves and bushes. To avoid ticks, walk in the center of trails and avoid walking through tall bushes or other vegetation. Repel ticks on skin and clothing. Use Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered insect repellents containing DEET, picaridin, IR3535, oil of lemon eucalyptus, para-menthane-diol, or 2-undecanone. EPA’s helpful search tool can help you find the product that best suits your needs. Always follow product instructions. Parents should apply this product to their children, avoiding hands, eyes, and mouth. Use products that contain permethrin on clothing. Treat clothing and gear, such as boots, pants, socks and tents with products containing 0.5% permethrin. It remains protective through several washings. Pre-treated clothing is available and may be protective longer. • The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has an online tool to help you select the repellent that is best for you and your family. • For detailed information about preventing ticks on pets and in your yard, see Lyme Disease Prevention and Control. • For detailed information for outdoor workers, see NIOSH Safety and Health Topic: Tick-borne Diseases. Perform Daily Tick Checks Check your body for ticks after being outdoors, even in your own yard. Search your entire body for ticks when you return from an area that may have ticks. Use a hand-held or full-length mirror to view all parts of your body and remove any tick you find. Take special care to check these parts of your body and your child’s body for ticks: • Under the arms • In and around the ears • Inside the belly button • Back of the knees • In and around all head and body hair • Between the legs • Around the waist Check your clothing and pets for ticks because they may carry ticks into the house. Check clothes and pets carefully and remove any ticks that are found. Place clothes into a dryer on high heat to kill ticks. Remove Attached Ticks Quickly and Correctly Remove an attached tick with fine-tipped tweezers as soon as you notice it. If a tick is attached to your skin for less than 24 hours, your chance of getting Lyme disease is extremely small; however, other diseases may be transmitted more quickly. Over the next few weeks, watch for signs or symptoms of Lyme disease such as rash or fever. See a healthcare provider if you have signs or symptoms. For more information, see tick removal. Be Alert for Fever or Rash Even if you don’t remember being bitten by a tick, an unexpected summer fever or odd rash may be the first signs of Lyme disease, particularly if you’ve been in tick habitat. See your healthcare provider if you have symptoms. Prevent Ticks on Animals Prevent family pets from bringing ticks into the home by limiting their access to tick-infested areas and by using veterinarian-prescribed tick prevention products on your dog. Create Tick-safe Zones in Your Yard Modify your landscaping to create “Tick-Safe Zones.” It’s pretty simple. Keep patios, play areas, and playground equipment away from shrubs, bushes, and other vegetation. Regularly remove leaves, clear tall grasses and brush around your home, and place wood chips or gravel between lawns and wooded areas to keep ticks away from recreational areas (and away from you). • Use a chemical control agent. Use acaricides (tick pesticides) to reduce the number of ticks in treated areas of your yard. However, you should not rely on spraying to reduce your risk of infection. • Discourage deer. Deer are the main food source of adult ticks. Keep deer away from your home by removing plants that attract deer and by constructing barriers (like a fence) to discourage deer from entering your yard and bringing ticks with them. This working equestrian farm is situated just outside the little historic town of Montrose, which has many little quaint stores to wander through. The farm is situated on top of a hill which has gorgeous views of the surrounding area. Wonderful trails are maintained through the woods so that you may view the wildlife. Norfolk Heritage Farm is located just outside the town of Montrose, PA. Throughout the year this old traditional town has wonderful celebrations, Memorial day parade, the 4th of July Parade is the largest parade around, Chocolate and Wine festival, Blueberry festival, Strawberry festival etc. Look on the Montrose website to see events that have been planned. The neighboring Harford Agricultural fair is still scheduled in August, with all sorts of animals, exhibitions, and rides. We are once again accepting guests. Foxglove cottage is a 3 bedroom cottage located at the Equestrian Barn. Completely renovated. Heating and Air conditioning. Book the cottage, and have the ability to pitch tents on the lawn adjacent to the cottage. Cook over a fire pit or in the grill, the pond is a short walk down the lane from the cottage where you can have access to the boats and fish or just enjoy the peace and quiet while watching the wildlife. The lawn area will be freshly mowed prior to arrival. The old sites will no longer be mowed and has been left to nature. The pond is accessible depending on the weather by awd or 4 wheel drive vehicles. In this instance it may be necessary in very wet conditions to walk 50 yards to your site. Site #1 (b) This site is adjacent to 1(a) separated only by a hedge. This site is perfect as an add on for 1a for large groups or if you wish to have a large camping area all to yourself. It is suggested that groups of 8+ book both sites at the same time. This location can hold very large groups, maximum of 30. (Please contact me through hipcamp for me to change the perimeters for your booking. Site #2 This site is on the opposite side of the pond, and is similar to the site 1, the access to this location along a dirt road and is therefore more accessible by a vehicle that does not have all wheel or 4 wheel drive. These sites are visible to each other but are far enough away to give privacy. This site can hold three tents comfortably. Site 1 a and b and 2 may be booked together for either large groups or for just more seclusion. If a large group books both these sites and you want access we shall accommodate you by mowing a pathway to make each campsite accessible to each other. Site #3 This site is remote and is only accessible by all wheel or 4 wheel drive when the weather has been wet. This site is very secluded in a meadow surrounded by woods on all sides, pathways are mowed for your use for a quick walk to the barn and also the pond. This is a large area and can also hold at least 7 tents. Please contact us through hipcamp to change the perimeters for you. Site #4 This site is also remote and is neatly tucked in the corner of a hay field, on the edge of some beautiful woods. This site is perfect to watch deer and bird-watching. This site can hold three tents comfortably. Tanimals. This is a smaller site and can handle only 2 tents comfortably. All sites are provided with a table and chairs or a wooden bench, fire pit, charcoal grill, tent and a toilet bucket. (Please only put septic waste in the bucket since the waste is emptied into a septic tank) In the event of storms, the indoor arena may be used to pitch a tent for a night or duration. Pets welcome on a leash. Fireworks are welcome from the pond sites. The farm also a petting farm, with chickens, horses, miniature horses, miniature donkey, dwarf goats, sheep and alpacas, all are friendly. We also have Scottish Highland Cows, please be aware, they have electric fence on the inside of the metal panels. We also have peacocks for you to view. At the pond there a few boats and canoes, These are for everyone's use and are free to use, please be courteous and share. Campers are welcome to bring their own paddle boats or canoes. In the pond we have Large and Small Mouth Bass, Perch, and Sunnies. Feel free to fish, but always catch and release the small ones. Please bring your fishing poles and bait. Additional: Please feel free to visit the animals at any time, but only enter the animals enclosure while supervised by a barn employee. These are therapy and petting animals, but still animals, watch fingers! Horse back riding and Miniature Cart Driving are available in 1 hour increments, these are given for an additional Fee. The instructor is trained in teaching regular lessons, but also therapeutic riding, and teaching equestrians with disabilities. Fire Wood available for Purchase Please bring your own fishing poles. Additional items families may wish to bring: Life jackets (we do not have any) If children wish to ride please bring their bike helmets to ensure proper fitting.

Hello we’re the Kark Family. We are 6th generational farmers on 400 acres in upstate NY. At this time we raise beef, goats, chickens, and a Zebu. We have a working mill on the property as well. What we really have to offer is incredible views and wide open spaces. We are close enough to town, yet far enough to enjoy the country. We have wooded spots or open field spots, and some in between. We are centrally located to visit lots of interesting places. April the Giraffe's baby was born 7 minutes from us. Whether you're young or older there’s plenty to see and do. Whether your group is large or small we can accommodate you. We hope to see you soon!Learn more about this land:Pitch your tent on sites throughout our 400 acre farmland. Sites range from in/along the woods, next to a pond, in the hay fields, and horse pastures. Depending on the location of your site you will be able to either drive there, walk from the main address, or get taken in on a tractor and hay wagon. We have a few sites in place, but if you find a location you prefer to set up camp we will accommodate you the best we can! Each site will have a picnic table and fire pit available. Great Fall Camping on private lake!

Our parents from Long Island, NY wanted to move to the country, and in 1953 bought this, our family property. We grew up milking our own cows, kept chickens & ducks and many other farm animals, grew our own gardens, made maple syrup from our trees, and rode our horses everywhere. And swam in the lake every day! My siblings and I still maintain and enjoy the nature on the property, and especially the lake, and feel blessed to be able to share it with our own children and grandchildren today. It is our pleasure to share it with others who may also appreciate its beauty and serenity, and who may not be fortunate enough to have access to such a peaceful place. Learn more about this land: Stay on 10 beautiful acres of rustic, private land with many good camping spots to choose from in grassy areas with lots of trees.  Enjoy boating/fishing/swimming. We have a gazebo at the lake shore, and an anchored swimming float. We allow the use of kayaks, canoe, rowboat, and peddle boat. Lots of wildlife around the lake; a resident heron, eagles, geese, beavers and otters, and the usual on the property like woodchucks and rabbits, and DEER of course.  Campfire ring,  water spigot (private drilled well) and electric available on the property. Neighbor cottage partially visible, but our property is pretty secluded and private. Two picnic tables, many chairs and side tables.  Well behaved pets okay, leashes may be required.  Mostly level terrain, ample parking area.  Very peaceful here.  My favorite place to relax, with my guitar and a glass of wine! Campsites are reasonably private and secluded. We mow paths through the area where camping is best; there are sunny and shady spots.  You may choose any spot you like, mowed or not.  It's pretty spread out, both sides of stream.  The lake and dock area and the boats, the gazebo, as well as the large stone fire ring and picnic tables, are communal. There are portable metal firepits available as well, for use at your campsite. Parking is in a large gravel area behind cottage area. Most campsites are located across a small stream, easily accessible (less than a 3 min walk) from the parking area.  Path immediately next to parking leads to a nice camping area alongside stream. Truck and car-top tents in the parking area may be allowed upon request. We ask that cars stay in the parking area, but there is a wheelbarrow for use in transporting your gear to the spot you choose.   There is NO bathroom (our cottage is private.)  You must pack it out, or bring your own portable toilet with disposable liner bags.  Trash and recycling cans are provided. No shower, but the lake is great for swimming.  There is an anchored swimming float to hang out in the sunshine!

Oh! Pear Orchards is nestled in the Endless Mountain Region in northeastern PA. Located on the fertile ground between two rivers, the orchard has several varieties of pears, including, but not limited to, Olympic Giants, Hosui, Bartlett, and 21st Century. In addition to selling Asian pears, Oh! Pear offers a look at a close-to-zero energy footprint. Within a half-hour of our campsites are the Merli-Sarnoski Park and the Lackawanna and Salt Springs State Parks--which offer hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Endless Brewing and EMR Event (Paintball) Park are also located nearby. For a list of campsites, scroll further down! Although our check-in process is generally to go straight to camp, if we're onsite, we do offer the option of a meet and greet. While we respect the privacy of our Hipcampers, we also love to meet our Guests and are very conversant if you choose to grab our ear! If you forget something and we're on-site, let us know--we might just be able to help! For Holidays and Special Events (i.e., Harford Fair August 14-19)), we do require a 2-night minimum stay, there will be a cost of $20 for each additional Hipcamper and we operate under a SUPER STRICT Cancellation policy. For non-Holiday/Special Event weekdays, we offer a 20% discount. We limit to what we believe suitable the number of Hipcampers at each of our campsites. The campsite is a short walk downhill from where you park (please refer to the short video provided, when booked, for more information) and it is remote. Each site is outfitted with a Big Horn 47" Wood Burning Ranch Fire Pit (with grill grate), a picnic table and the potential for an outside adventure. Bounded on one side by an escarpment and on the other side a mountain, this campsite is irrevocably secluded--and has been voted the #1 Hipcamp site in PA and in the nation--as evidenced by the nearly perfect positive reviews from those adventurers who have stayed here.....and our many repeat Hipcampers. -LIAM'S LAIR: Surrounded by towering trees and dense foliage, Liam's Lair offers a sense of seclusion that is both rare and precious. This cabin has been in my family for over 40 years, and we love to share it's charm with the world! Sleep like a log in our one-room charming cabin on a small private lake lot with non-motor boats only.  Little Elk Lake is 43 acres.  Queen bed with linens provided, plus 2 adult cots with pads and sleeping bags.  Rowboat plus 2 youth kayaks and two adult kayaks available for your use, and we have life jackets in many sizes.  We are sorry but the pontoon boat cannot be used by guests. The fishing is EXCELLENT and bring your binoculars - BALD EAGLES frequent the lake!   We want you to have so much FUN during your visit, but we are not a party spot.  The lake is rural and quiet, and so we must request low noise levels after 10 pm in order to keep our neighborhood HAPPY!  :) We welcome everyone, including the LGBQT community and folks from all ethnicities.  You'll feel like you are coming home to a safe haven and all guests will be treated with kindness and respect here at Sunset Shore! Don't waste one moment of lake time!   GROCERY, PHARMACY and EVEN HOMEGOODS delivery is available.  Our local large grocery chain Price Chopper,  Rite Aid and Family Dollar all deliver to the cabin.  The name of the app is INSTACART.   NEW - a Smart TV to keep those little ones entertained on rainy days. Please don't remove our kayaks from the property though. Antiquing - Find true treasures at one of many local shops including Apple Wagon Antique Mall or The Old Store in Tunkhannock, PA as well as Feick's Vintage Finds and Rustic Willow near Meshoppen, Americana Roads Antiques in Springville and MANY more! Local Art is AMAZING!  The Artist's Open House Tour is FREE and is Columbus Day Weekend annually. Most of these art studios are open YEAR ROUND by appointment. Our favorite shop is #8, Chris Lathrop, who is also the closest, less than 10 minutes away (you'll also see some of her work in the cabin). Call her and schedule a watercolor class! Wine! ... and Beer! We are so lucky to have many locals within a short drive. Check out Nimble Hill Vineyard and Winery and Nimble Hill Brewery, Endless Brewing, Grovedale Winery, Pickering Winery, Antler Ridge Winery, and Hidden Creek Vineyard & Winery. When to go

The best time to visit Salt Springs State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural scenery is at its peak. Summer offers lush greenery, but be prepared for busier trails and warmer temperatures. Winter can be harsh, with snow and ice possibly limiting access to certain areas of the park.
