Welcome to Tent Camping on South Muskoka River! Situated in Bracebridge, Ontario, an area known for its eight major waterfalls, you will love this perfect little getaway. The property is situated right on the river and you can enjoy paddling and swimming right from your site. There is an outdoor prep area for cooking and an outhouse on site. If the weather turns, there is a screened-in porch to help you weather out the storm. On sunny days you can relax by the tranquil river on the dock with sunset and moonrise exposure. Great for fall camping! NOTE: This site is at 1128 Cridiford Road. PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE DOWN DRIVEWAY AT 1133. If you hit the bearproof green bin you have gone too far and need to drive to end of road and turn around, not in neighbour's (1133) driveway. Please adhere to the guidelines for bears: https://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/recreational_activites/black-bear-safety-rules.php?fbclid=IwAR2sds_SuTGw-nKnY2-KgTjzm71Yt4_Dr88C8GuyyXRj-tc_DJInd9P_1nU If you are a paddling enthusiast we have a Grumman aluminum canoe and paddleboard available for use. Life jackets a must. The tent area is flat and has a firepit where you can enjoy amazing sunsets and nights around the fire. Walk to Slater Falls and paddle to May Chutes. The property is located 20 minutes to the downtown core of Bracebridge, where can stock up on essentials, go to restaurants or take a stroll on the riverwalk and enjoy the spectacular views of Bracebridge falls. LGBTQI2S+ friendly spot! Note: Having a go at selling the property if you know anyone who might be interested! https://www.kijiji.ca/v-land-for-sale/muskoka/fabulous-offering-of-this-rural-residential-lot-sr1/1630471789A gem of a camping/paddling spot! The area for tent is a flat area with firepit (please follow fireban rules), outhouse, and access to the river for swimming, paddling. Access to fridge inside the cabin while you stay if you wish. It is close to other neighbours and sound travels easily on the river so campers must keep noise to a minimum.  Grumman aluminium canoe and paddleboard available for use. Swimming and paddling are fantastic! MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM AS THERE IS A CURRENT. Winter camping possible with access to outhouse and fire pit. Tip: Driveway short and a bit steep for regular cars! Please do not drive down 1133 Cridiford Road. Look out for 1128 blue fire sign. Fires are allowed after dusk unless posted otherwise on Fraserburg Road. IMPORTANT! A bear visited the site the night of July 29, 2022. Please be sure to take all your garbage and recycling with you when you leave. LOCK up all food and no snacks or food in tents please.  Feel free to use screened in porch if bugs are bad. Ensure umbrellas are down when you leave the site. KEEP BUCKET OF WATER BY THE FIRE PIT AT ALL TIMES. Thank you!

Tent Camping on South Muskoka River
Gorgeous fall camping on the river!
We absolutely adored Joanne's sanctuary! We stayed 3 nights, and 2 of those we stayed in our tent near the fire. The weather turned very cold and rainy and we moved our sleeping bag inside for the night. It was a welcome refuge to have access to the cute cabin space that Joanne messaged us we could shelter in if the weather turned. We kept warm with the fire and we even had a chance to canoe down the river on the sunnier warm day. Incredible fall colours everywhere around and peaceful morning coffee on the river, what more could you ask for? Fantastic camp kitchen with everything you could possibly want or need to cook, including propane. The outhouse was handy and convenient as well. We had an amazing time and hope to return. One note is that there are lots of cottages next to you and across the river, and sound does carry. So you won't feel completely remote/private but very peaceful and lovely nonetheless.

Beautiful getaway!!
This is the perfect place to unwind for a weekend with friends or as a couple. The campsite is clean with direct river access. The stars are beautiful at night!! There is a outhouse, fire pit and a kayak and canoe. We really enjoyed getting outdoors!! The host was communicative and provided a site manual for our stay. We will be back in the future! Thank you for hosting us

Tent Camping on South Muskoka River
Beautiful site on the river!
We set up our tent in a nice flat open area near the river, dock, and fire pit. We explored the river in the canoe that Joanne provides, lounged in the hammock on the deck, and enjoyed a rainy morning in her screened porch next to her cabin. The river was deep, clear, and easy to paddle. 1.7 km downstream are some chutes or rapids. It's a beautiful destination! You can walk the road to the chutes, which is safer than paddling there. There are falls upstream too, but quite a bit farther. Cell service was limited but just enough to send and receive texts or a little browsing if you are very patient. We loved our stay here!

Toad Heaven!
Joanne’s land is beautiful. On the sunny side of a peaceful river surrounded by friendly neighbours is a lovely cottage with a beautiful yard filled with toads! We must have caught at least 30, it was a highlight of the trip for sure. In addition to the fun wildlife (we also saw some red squirrels, ducks and frogs!) there is a waterfall 20 minutes down the road where you can walk right up and see the water rush by. The neighbours are close on one side but they are a lovely family with great taste in music haha. There is enough phone signal (on both Rogers and Telus) to send text messages and make calls, but not enough for data. A perfect getaway from social media! It was a wonderful trip and we look forward to visiting again :)

Tent Camping on South Muskoka River
Dream-like property, honestly. You're located right on the river and have access to stunning dark-lit skies if you're looking to explore some astronomy. It feels like you're on a retreat when visiting and it comes fairly equipped with an outdoor kitchen, utensils etc. Take a canoe ride across the river too - highly recommended! Just be aware that the river ends in waterfalls so don't go too far left (when facing the river).
