The Ship Wreck is a secluded getaway on Hennigar Lake 45 minutes from Halifax. It includes a converted 29’ sailboat, a large open air cookhouse including a wood fired pizza oven and propane fridge and stove and a wash house with composting toilet and gravity fed sink. An outdoor shower can wash away a day’s labours! Added amenities include kayaks, a horseshoe pitch, two fire pits and a hammock beneath the overhanging trees. Sandy walkways connect the beach to all of the different elements. Multiple spots around the property invite quiet reflection. Take your shoes off and stay a while… and if it’s Spring or Fall know that the rocket mass heater can keep you warm on the coolest, rainiest days.Welcome to the Ship Wreck - take your shoes off and stay a while. Swim or paddle; make pizza or relax with a book. Hike or bike nearby trails. Throw a few horseshoes or make some art. Rain or shine we have you covered! We are only 15 minutes from shopping and local tourist sites ( Chester, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg) are within 40 minutes drive. Yet, the privacy is guaranteed to sooth your soul.

The Ship Wreck

Amazing spot

My family absolutely adored the shipwreck. Bryan was an incredible host. He had so many special touches added to our stay. The facilities seemed very eco friendly and sustainable. The buildings themselves were thoughtfully designed. He even has a Pizza Oven! We are definitely coming back next year. See you in a year!

The Ship Wreck

Amazing stay at the Ship Wreck!

What a unique experience!! We had the most fantastic stay at the Ship Wreck!! Bryan was very responsive from the begging. He met us as soon as we arrived, and he walked us through. We stayed with our 3 year old son and Bryan went above and beyond to set everything up for us so we're comfortable. The inside of the Ship Wreck is clean and cozy, even had a welcome basket. The outside kitchen area had everything you could possibly need, it was a lot of fun using the pizza oven and it worked great! The outhouse was also very clean. The best part was the sandy beach where you could watch the sunset by the water. Also, our son had the best time! If you want a quiet and private glamping experience the Ship Wreck is a place for you. We can't wait to come back!
