The main attraction nearby are the School Forest mountain biking trails, which are across the road. There are 13 miles of single track mountain bike trails available. Four miles East of the homestead is the Village of Walloon, which has a public beach and park. Three miles South is the town of Boyne City, located on Lake Charlevoix. Young State Park is also three miles south, and has a beautiful public beach.*Once the snow has melted, I intend to get a proper site photo! In the meantime, use your imagination :) Within our 16 acre maple-beech dune forest, this campsite is higher up on a hill, offering nice views of the surrounding forest-scape. It is a 5-10 minute walk up, from the available parking spaces, so camp light or take multiple trips to your vehicle. Or, if you came to mountain bike, take a quick bike ride up to the site. Near parking, you'll find available drinking water, freshly filled that morning. You'll also find wood to purchase at $5 a bundle.  The parking area is shared with us, Matt and Andi. We are friendly and happy to share our space, and be providing inexpensive accommodations in a place we love and know others will too.  Your camping space, however, is private. We know where it is, we know of about three rough trails to get there, but will leave you in peace during your camping days. However, we may be seen or heard walking the main trail that leads to the backside of our property, where we have another garden and small orchard. You're welcome to explore these trails while visiting, peruse the garden (please be mindful of your step!), and purchase anything fresh or from the pantry. Andi cans and creates ferments regularly -- what is available is all about seasonal timing.  This camping area within our forest has a thinner tree top canopy, and offers more glimpses of the night sky. 2-3 tents can fit comfortably in this space. A bonfire pit is available. There is also wood to purchase for $5 a bundle near the parking area.  ***You are not allowed to bring wood from another forest onto the property.  Please do not sneak wood, or even consider bringing your own. Moving firewood is how tree-killing insects and diseases are spread, and even moving from a 50 mile range is highly discouraged. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh. Please read and do the research if you have any doubts or confusion on this rule.
