We are located ocean-side off the famous scenic highway 1. The vintage mushroom foraging centric trailer is nestled in an heirloom apple orchard inside of our 1 plus acre property. We are minutes walk from a thousand acre wild life dunes preserve that hugs private ocean access. This property is a growing nature sanctuary for migrating butterflies, hummingbirds and so much more. You can stay here on location and enjoy dunes hiking and exploration, private walks on the beach, bird watching, surfing etc. We are centrally located to a myriad of state parks, rivers, redwoods, hiking trails, horse back riding, as well as a few minutes drive from all local amenities.This is a quaint vintage 1959 custom craftsman aluminum trailer. To access you will park in a designated parking spot and enter through the "pyramid" gate. The trailer is secluded on our property and you will have privacy once situated in your location. Guests have access to our well water. There is a picnic table, hammock, chairs and fire pit. We provide a propane camping stove for outside cooking, utensils, and a small burner inside the trailer for making tea and coffee. There is a large collection of new and vintage local foraging and nature books to enjoy while lounging. There is a composting toilet with a washing station in the "that is the best out-house I've ever been in" outhouse. Fresh hand and face towels, rose water and soap are also supplied. The trailer is not heated but does have an electric blanket that keeps everyone warm and cozy. As stated the fire pit is available to. If you are seeking spiritual guidance, soul communion, healing or want to learn how to communicate with plants and nature I offer an array of modalities and options. I am a seer, sound healer, I offer personal curated plant & funghi assisted journeys as well as "Imaginal Realm Oracle Medicine Sessions" and I teach "Imaginal Journeying" (similar to shamanic journeying). My husband Billy Sprague offers private mushroom foraging tours as per availability. I'm happy to answer any questions prior to your arrival. Thank you, Valentine and Billy

Shroom Shack

Will definitely be back!

Stayed for the weekend and had a great time. We did walk to the beach from the shack through the dunes, be prepared for a bit of a trek. Seaside beach is easily accessible and beautiful and is a a few minute drive north. We enjoyed all of the little reading materials and trinkets around the site. It did get chilly at night but the blankets provided were adequate and the candles help. Woke up and enjoyed a nice fire and picked some fresh wild berries for breakfast! Would definitely recommend staying here!

Shroom Shack

The campfire area next to the shack was great. It's a short (10 min or so) walk from the site through the dunes to the water. The beach was area fantastic. So nice to have the area mostly to yourself. Very peaceful. It's a quick drive (~8 min) into Ft. Bragg. Valentine and Billy were very responsive and helpful. The only downside for some may be no running water. But the outhouse was so nice. You will need an ice chest if you plan on bringing anything to stay cold. Lovely stay.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Our family had the most magical stay at the Shroom Shack, which is perfectly, privately situated in an apple orchard in the gorgeous back garden of the hosts, Valentine and Billy, who themselves are delightful people! The vintage trailer is so full of charm, the outhouse is super clean and full of surprises (in a good way), there’s an incredible fire pit to sit by at night and cook over — we grilled (dinner) and roasted (marshmallows) - and the garden is beautifully tended to. It’s also an amazing spot as it is just steps away from expansive sand dunes preserve that is as close to wild ocean as you can get. The love and special touches that Valentine and Billy have put into creating this oasis are unusual and so appreciated. We will be back again...and again!

Shroom Shack

The camp site is nice and secluded right next to the dunes. Nights are quiet and peaceful. The fire pit was awesome and the Shroom shack itself was great 👍. The hosts Billy and Valentine were very nice. Overall a great experience.

10/10: Foraging, dunes, campfire

Strongly recommended. The bed is warm, the fire pit is great, the stars and dunes nearby are beautiful. They had a huge water jug ready for us and a fire going when we arrived. Downtown Mendo is super cute, and Billy had great recs for pizza @ the brickery and ice cream @ Frankies. Billy also took us on an AMAZING mushroom foraging trip, he taught us, made sure we followed the rules and avoided areas where you need a permit, and we left with 8 pounds of delicious mushrooms.

good experience

- Heard the sound of the ocean waves at night. - The trailer is at about 30-40 feet from the parked car. - Enjoyed few shooting stars at night as the sky was clear. - road to fort bragg is winding and goes through mountain, can get nausea-tic. - some good scenic points around the coast of the ten mile beach, 10 mins drive from the location. - a local store + gas station that sells firewood is at 5 mins drive to the south. - access to the ten mile beach is at around 10-15 mins walk. After ~ 5 mins we hit the dunes. Then ~ 10 more mins walk to the water. - Host is responsive. - no cellular signal - no wifi in the trailer - new phone picked up wifi outside the trailer at campfire. - good place to read a book on the hammock.
