Flyte and Sparrow natural interlude

12 sites · RVs, Tents96 acres · Reno, CA
When you come to camp here you are on a working farm in transition. Girlfarm has been a local food go to for restaurants, farm family members, and regenerative agriculture interests. Today, the farm is looking forward to a new course in agri tourism as we begin planning walking gardens, art installations in the landscape, and interactive classes. If you would like a list of grass fed meats available, veggies, or herbs just text your host before arrival. We are looking for a seasonal self contained camper who we could offer trade for camp care - text host directly. Its been a huge water season so skeeters are around we also recommend tents have a rain fly and ground cloth. Welcome It was important to choose a partner like Hipcamp to invite like minded individuals who respect both the natural environment and the idea of less is more. At any time you may encounter farming activities, building out of tiny houses for future bookings, or gardens in the process of creation. As we move toward offering the land as a place to both find solitude or chosen participation our Flyte and Sparrow experience will hopefully be a place you will want to return to as your own tradition.

Genesee Camp

1 site · RV, Tent10 acres · California 95983, CA
I fell in love with this piece of property years ago, and finally was able to build my dream home here. I rescue unwanted dogs from certain euthanasia who have been abandoned or abused, and provide them a forever home.  Now I want to share my beautiful wooded property where they can run, swim, investigate, play, and enjoy a free-range lifestyle. Campers and their canine family members are welcome to come and enjoy the outdoors.

TURNER BEACH AT LAKE ALMANOR

1 site · RV, Tent1 acre · Westwood, CA
Turner Beach At Lake Almanor is a privately owned vacant lakefront lot. The property is wide enough to accommodate 3 RV's end to end, ensuring no blocked views of the lake. You will be camping along Lake Almanor's East Shore on your own private campground instead of "combat camping" in the popular public campgrounds nearby. Additionally, the property can accommodate numerous smaller vans and tents. We have 2 mooring buoys and a large dock. There is a sani-hut potty which is maintained/cleaned weekly. The property is located between the lake and the highway, so there will be road noise. Some guests have been bothered by the traffic and some have not. We have 2 SUP boards, a kayak, and a canoe as well as a 5-person pedal boat that can be borrowed while renting our beach. Doing so will be at your own risk and you are required to wear personal floatation devices (lifejackets). Lifejackets are not provided, so you will need to bring your own. We ask that you please respect our toys and take care not to damage them or lose any parts/pieces. All renters must take their own trash with them when they depart. No Fireworks, No firearms, No drugs allowed. Dogs are allowed and we do have a 10 x 10 x 6 kennel onsite. Campers are responsible for minding their pet's safety, politeness, and picking up their poo-poo's. Marshmallow roasting/cooking fires must be kept small and are only allowed in the provided fire ring. There is some small firewood onsite, and if you need more you can purchase nearby at Almanor Landscape Supply or bring your own. The early mornings are tranquil, and the sunsets are STUNNING! We hope you enjoy your stay! **OUR BEACH IS CLOSED FOR THE SEASON NOW FROM NOVEMBER THROUGH APRIL, 2024. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING!

Wild Plumas

11 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents50 acres · Greenville, CA
In 2024, Wild Plumas will be transitioning to only one glamping site and one cabin, which means even more privacy and room to roam! Wild Plumas is located on our family's private 50-acre property at the base of the Sierra Nevada. Rent one site, or the whole property for a larger event like a reunion, retreat, or small wedding! The camps are completely private (each one has 3+ acres). The Wild Rose offers a large canvas tent with two queen beds, comfortable bed/bedding, an outdoor kitchen area, private hot shower, and more (check the listings for details). We also have one year-round cabin (The Shabby Cabin), with a queen sized bed, indoor woodstove, outdoor covered kitchen, and private hot shower. We are located one hour from the Mount Lassen Volcanic National Park, and minutes from swimming holes, lakes, and a million acres of National Forest- or simply stay at the property and enjoy the on-site hiking trails, free loaner bikes, treehouse, zip line, and kid's ninja warrior course. The campsites are also just a few steps from swimming holes along the creek that runs throughout. Thank you for respecting our new policy of no dogs allowed. We love your pets, and we know they travel as part of your family! Unfortunately, for the safety of local wildlife, and the sustainability of our accommodations, we no longer permit pets at either site. Please note: Our community was severely affected by the Dixie Fire. Although you can't tell from within our property, the nearby area was heavily burnt, as well as the nearby town of Greenville. During your stay, you may hear the sounds of Greenville as the town rebuilds (1.5 miles away) and you may incur brief driving delays on your way here. When you arrive at Wild Plumas- an oasis of green within the black- you will see what a miracle it is that we survived! We thank you for your patience and for your support of our small business during this time. Be sure to visit Greenville's new pop-up downtown with food trucks, a thrift store, and an outdoor bar. Each site accommodates between two-four people and additional adults are $10/night who are welcome to sleep outdoors in their own tents. There is no charge for children. Not sure your plans? We get it! If you need to postpone your reservation, we allow✨no-fee✨re-booking (with at least a 7-day notice of your reservation).

The best camping near Honey Lake guide

Overview

About

Inside the 7,600 acre Honey Lake Wildlife Area you will find sprawling hills of sagebrush habitat encircling a shallow lake within the Great Basin Desert. Honey Lake itself is known for it's warm water fishing and migratory bird watching. Take the opportunity to see the hundreds of migratory waterfowl, passerines, sandhill cranes, as well as a variety of birds of prey. While exploring the shores and skies be sure to keep an eye out for pronghorn antelope and deer as they too enjoy migrating to the distinct micro-climate within the basin.

When to go

The best time to visit Honey Lake is during the migratory bird seasons, when the area teems with avian life. Spring and fall offer the most dynamic wildlife viewing experiences. Summer can be hot and dry, while winter may bring harsh conditions, making access challenging.

Know before you go

  • Check water levels before planning your visit, as they can vary seasonally and affect wildlife activity.
  • Be prepared for the absence of facilities; plan to bring necessary supplies and leave no trace.
  • Ensure you have the correct licenses and passes for activities like hunting; regulations are strictly enforced.
  • Reservations may be required for hunting during peak seasons, so plan accordingly.
  • Respect the natural habitat and the wildlife that calls Honey Lake home by observing from a distance.
