We are in the Mojave Desert, 27 miles east of Tecopa, California off the Old Spanish Trail. We are halfway between the bright lights of Las Vegas and the expansive starry skies of Death Valley. A few generations ago roamed here the Shoshone Tribe. At the same time, pioneers from the East traveled on the Old Spanish Trail which crosses our own land. Now, a few of us who enjoy the great space and silence are creating with the earth. We build comfortably, off-grid, with the challenges of unpredictable weather and extreme climate. Some of us, like me, guided by a passion to create space in and with this earth, build with earthbags and bottles. In Spring, 2015, we began building. Slowly, thanks to like-minded, enthusiastic helpers, we grow! We enjoy sharing this space with others, like You?! who also love the hum of our planet Earth, its critters, and being in touch with our own selves. Sleep in this unique, magical place, wrapped in the arms of the Earth. Bring in, take out! BE responsible for yourselves and for our fragile desert!

Profund experience at 3 Moons

3 Moons project is an inspirational place whose founder is 91 years young and still building earthen walls out in the heat! The 3 Moons community is generous and compassionate, and make for wonderfully accommodating hosts. If you're interested in having a inspirational trip off of the beaten path make sure you stay at 3 Moons <3

It's a Tribe Vibe

This is the exact opposite of the "vanilla box" experience you might find at a hotel. My guy and I were looking to get away from everyone and see the desert bloom and the end of a meteor shower so I took a deep dive down the rabbit hole and came up here. This place is AWESOME. There's no "address", you get coordinates. The night sky is breathtaking and the dwelling we stayed in was nothing like either one of us had stayed in. I happen to be a fan of living as close to the earth as possible so the communal wash/toilet areas were a pleasant surprise. And usually I like to be around people but we were going for the opposite experience here, so we stayed back from the conversations and jollies coming from the kitchen area once the sun started setting. The host was FANTASTIC and answered any questions we had pretty much immediately. She also drew us maps so that we could explore off grounds. The generosity and hospitality we were shown (especially to be respectfully left alone to hide from everything in our space) was more personalized and inclusive than any run-of-the-mill destination I've stayed at. This place is *special*. I'd definitely go back.

Magical

Our stay in the dome was absolutely wonderful. The fire pit kept us warm, and the views were breathtaking! I will say, the composting toilet was a bucket, so be weary of that. There is a little private shack for the bucket, but know what you’re walking in to! I also recommend some knowledge on how to keep a fire going if you are visiting before the warm months! The fire inside was magical and you defintely don’t want to miss it. Sustainable, wonderful people and the surrounding towns were nice too!

Magical Off-Grid Camping

If you are looking for off-grid camping out in Death Valley, look no further. Beautiful views, when I went there was still snow on the mountains out in the distance. The pictures of this place don't do it justice. Make sure you get out to The3Moons and see the beauty of natural building. The camp hosts are friendly, and helpful in anything you need. You will feel right at home if you are open to new experiences. Come out here to unplug and enjoy the nature around you.

We spent a wonderful timechange at 3Moons! As long as you know what you're in for (read the description) your experience will be magical. You feel directly connected with the cosmos thanks to the number of stars you can see with the naked eye, it's incredible. Tecopa has great local pizza and beer if you don't want to worry about food.
