We have an 18 acre site with pecan groves and old buildings perfectly situated to be a base for Mississippi Delta explorations to Clarksdale and blues country. Located on the farm where Muddy Waters grew up and was first recorded. Camping is primitive. RV Sites offer power and water, but no gray water disposal or septic. Short term rentals only. Stovall Store hosts sporadic pop-up music events. Visit The Stovall Store on Facebook for more info or @stovallstore on Insta. Stovall Gin Campsites
The home of Muddy Waters... what?!
A very cool setting with some interesting history. The old cotton gin and the surrounding grounds were nice. A bit of a busy road going by, but generally quiet. If timing had been better, we likely would have been very entertained with some fantastic blues.

Stovall Gin RV site
The Stovall Gin is quiet, peaceful, and the birthplace of Muddy Waters!!! We enjoyed the hook ups, the solitude, and the funky vibe. A short drive to the Ground Zero Blues Club, the Delta Blues museum, and some helpful hints from our amicable host, Howard, made us feel at home in the "Birthplace of the Blues". We will be back.

Stovall Gin Campsites
(Not) Singing the Blues!
Overall this site was ideal for me. Looking for unique, scenic and/or historical sites to tent camp in the 50 states. Found Stovall Gin campsites and stopped looking in MS (now #37) due to its Blues history and where it happened. Conditions were Sunday, mid-March, lt breeze, H60, L38, mostly clear, only one camped. It had rained a few days earlier so ground was soft but not soaked. Able to push stakes in with foot and be secured. Tenting area in grove is flat and level. Clear of rocks, stones and eyes/feet didn’t even find any gnarly roots. Had to clear twigs and small branches only. I use a cot for car camping these days but ground camping should be fine. Two things to consider 1) there’s a light across the road by the bins which shines on the grove. Got lucky and tree trunk cast shadow on head end of cot. No foliage on trees to block light so summer may be less. On the plus side after dark arrivals, moving around camp at night or those not wanting complete darkness will be aided. 2) there is some road noise but didn’t bother me too much, though it was a Sunday. If either of these are potential issues I’d suggest setting up at the back corner of the grove and let us know how it goes. Made reservation same day and Howard called to provide arrival details. Best wishes on (re)establishing a live music destination, will keep an eye out for a return visit! And if you didn’t download Muddy Waters Complete Plantation Field Recordings, VZ had full signal!

Stovall Gin Campsites
The 4" of rain arriving the night before I arrived made the actual campsites unusable, so this isn't a true evaluation. I really appreciated Howard's prompt communication when I made the reservation and his suggesting where I could park my rig without sinking to my hocks. And that worked well. The Gin (no, not THAT kind of gin...this is a cotton gin) is in tatters, but if there were musicians playing it would be a unique venue and in an area without many overnight sites.

Tucson visits the Delta
Great time, great place. Great open areas and full electric and water. Tons of history. Met the owner, Howard, who took us around the gin and the property. Learned alot. Highly recommend this Hipcamp.
