80+ acres all to yourself!! This beautiful and very secluded property, with river, kayaks, trails, and creeks is offered to only one group at a time to ensure peace, quiet, and seclusion. No other guests will overlap your stay. You will enjoy the peaceful solitude in nature completely alone!
It's a great location for romantic getaways, silent personal retreats, yoga, or just spending quiet one-on-one time with your spouse or significant other.
Campers on Thunder Mountain enjoy the entire property, including the unique outdoor bathhouse with outdoor tub and shower, amazing multi-level decks, kayaks, grill, trails, hammocks, and tubes - without the cost of the cabin. The cabin will be vacant during camping stays, but you can still enjoy the WiFi and other amenities outside.
($30-90/night camping; $190-280/night cabin - listed separately) Last minute bookings may have discounted rates. Camping bookings are sometimes available even if the calendar does not show due to cabin cleaning days. We'll try to move our cleaning days around to help you out if possible.Be completely alone and enjoy secluded camping on the S.Fork Caddo River. This magical 80+ acre property on Thunder Mountain offers one or two guests free use of kayaks, tubes, and a paddle boat to enjoy on your own in the large swimming hole area of the river. You will also have private access to our unique outdoor bathhouse overlooking the river and Ouachita Mountains. Hike 4 miles of private trails. Camp on the river, on the large deck, or set up near your car in the pine and hardwood forest next to our cabin above the river. The cabin will be vacant during your stay and no other guests will overlap your stay. You can enjoy the views from the front and back porch and awesome three-tier deck. You may also use our propane grill or fire rings. The property extends across both sides of the river for almost 1/2 mile, so seclusion and tranquility is abundant! Water and electricity are available outside the cabin. The bathhouse contains a large outdoor shower, deep antique tub, and sink. There is a separate outhouse with a flushing toilet available near the cabin.
We only rent to 2 people max (one group) even though the property is large. That's 40 acres per person!! :-) ATVs are not allowed to be used on the property.
Calendar - We keep the camping calendar mostly blocked until the cabin calendar fills in. For open dates more than a couple months out, just ask. If you don't see camping dates that you want, just ask and I'll see if we can move our cleaning days to make room for you. Need a cheaper price? Never hurts to ask especially if an open date is less than a couple weeks away. :-)
Cell service works ok with Verizon near the cabin and on top of high hills. WiFi calling works great close to the cabin. ATT works only in a couple spots near the cabin.
The last 1/2 mile to the camping area is a rough dirt road with a steep hill just before reaching the cabin. Cars can make it if they aren't too low to the ground but a small SUV or truck is recommended.
118 steps from the cabin and parking area to the river.
Pop-ups and campers less than 18' long are welcome, but anything larger will not fit due to trees.
Naturists and skinny dipping is allowed as long as you stay away from the country road on the edge of the property. Please keep a towel handy if you are hiking near the edge of the property. Please switch off the outdoor security camera if it is not already off (We tell guests where the switch is). Enjoy the freedom and seclusion however you want!
