Serene Escape

1 site · Tent1 acre · Concho, AZ
Learn more about this land: This serene desert landscape will give you the solitude and desert vibes you are looking for! It is a great stop over if you are cruising to NM, or if you are exploring Northern AZ. Positioned right next to the Red Rock Ranch Lavender farm, and right between 2 of AZ's best destinations (Show Low, AZ and the Petrified Forest National Park)! Petrified Forest National Park is only 16 miles away! This expansive park covers 230 square miles of Arizona desert, extending into the badlands and the Painted Desert. The Petrified Forest is famous for its fossilized trees, which fell about 225 million years ago. There's also spectacular colored rocks, a result of the Chinle Formation. Hike, sightsee and photograph your way through this unique landscape of grandiose geology. Hiking and backpacking abound but beware of the region's high altitude and dry, windy climate. For some of the best backcountry trails in the country, head to Red Basin or Martha's Butte. Grab a backcountry permit and wander at will. If you're new to the hiking game, book a guided hike and let the experts lead you to the best vistas around. Backcountry camping within the park itself is your best bet for lodging, but if all that open space sounds a little, dare we say...petrifying, nearby private campgrounds are available. There's also good camping in Canyon de Chelly National Monument and El Morro National Monument. Pets are allowed. Please make sure you pick up after them.

Southward Farms

1 site · RV100 acres · Concho, AZ
Southward Farm is a 100-acre farm and ranch property in Old Concho, situated in the high desert of eastern Arizona. We purchased the farm in 2021 and are working to reestablish the orchards and grazing lands surrounding the farm house. We are growing our flocks of chickens and ducks and hope to add cows and goats in the near future. The property is bordered by a ridge of hills from which you can get a good view of the valley. The town itself is sparsely populated, with shopping available in St. Johns, 15 miles to the east; Snowflake, 28 miles west; and Show Low, 25 mile southwest. Petrified Forest National Park is a short 30 minute drive to the northwest, beyond that lie the towns of Holbrook and Winslow, situated on historic Route 66. Nearby are reservations of the Navajo, Apache, Zuni, and Hopi nations. Gallup, New Mexico lies about 2 hours to the northeast.

Front Row Seat! Petrified Forest!

2 sites · RVs10 acres · Sun Valley, AZ
Learn more about this land:This raw land property, right at the edge of the Petrified Forest National Park, gives you amazing views of and walking access into the park (with an already purchased entrance pass) to the ancient Puerco Pueblo and the stunning views of Newspaper Rock. Cell reception in the area is decent. I had access to TMobile data from the property the last time I was there though not all areas of the park have the same luxury. City folk (like it seems I have sadly become these days) often forget what a beautiful starry night sky can look like. One clear night here and you'll see a sky full of stars, the milky way, planets and maybe a shooting star. As a International Dark Sky Park, the parks nightscape falls on the Bortel scale of 3 (1 being darkest and 9 being brightest). For more info go to www.nps.gov/pefo/learn/nature/darkskies Outside of the Petrified Forest National Park in Holbrook, we recommend visiting Jim Gray's Petrified Wood Co. and the Navajo County Historical Society Museum. Nearest gas can be found at the Painted Desert Visitor Center or west down I-40 toward Holbrook at the Hopi Travel Plaza. In Holbrook, groceries can be found at Safeway and local restaurants include Camaleon Cafe, Butterfield Stage Co. Steak House and Mandarin Beauty and host of other Mexican and American restaurants. Trucks do come down Adamana Rd to the storage facility during the week though you probably won't hear or see them much. The train can be a bit loud and obnoxious for some (or a something exciting for the kids) depending on how frequently it passes through so ear plugs at night may be advised. I'm usually pretty accessible and close to my phone so feel free to message me with any questions you may have, before during or after your trip! ***Please read all rules and descriptions in the listing thoroughly before booking to make sure this listing is a good fit!*** We look forward to having you!
