Breath of Dawn VA

4 sites ¡ RVs, Tents35 acres ¡ Castlewood, VA
Welcome to our mountain camping retreat in Virginia, where you will experience the beauty of nature up close and personal. Our farm is a perfect place to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature's beauty.  Location Our property is located in the Appalachian Mountains of SW Virginia, just a few a miles away from the Clinch River and over looking the Clinch Mountain. You'll escape the hustle and bustle by getting lost in our stunning views of the landscape.  Activities Whether you are an adventurer or just looking for some relaxation amidst nature, our area provides plenty of activities for all. You can explore the trails in the nearby mountains, go kayaking in the rivers, or simply relax and enjoy the beauty of the scenery here on the homestead. There are also plenty of fun festivals and activities in the nearby towns. Accommodation Our rural homestead offers a quiet escape. Accommodations range from primitive campsites & glamping A-frame dry cabins to a cozy renovated RV with full amenities or a retro-vintage camper by the creek. Tents with setup are available for rent and you can purchase a 6 pack of eggs from the farm for your next meal.  Wildlife As you explore the natural beauty of our homestead, you can also marvel at the wildlife. You'll see deer, turkey, lots of birds, and sometimes even bears. The night time is just as exciting as the stars fill the skies and you experience the light show of the fireflies in season.  We believe our space is the perfect getaway for anyone looking to relax and breathe in better days. Come join us and create unforgettable memories! Plans We are building an educational homestead with farm stays here in rural SW Virginia to include dining experiences and food preservation classes. Our 35 acre farm is located on a mountainside with beautiful views of the Clinch Mountain. Our location is rural and peaceful with abundant wildlife. Deer, Racoons, Opossums, Bobcats, Bear, Fox, Groundhogs, and Turkey have been spotted on the property. We are a great spot for bird watching as well! Camp Grassland: Two of our prepped campsites are on a flattened area of the hillside field with access to a fire pit, log bench, and porta-potty. This location is in direct sun with beautiful views and easy access from the road. Parking at the top of the field is recommended unless you have a 4WD vehicle.  Farmhouse Holler: 2nd Campsite is located next to our old farmhouse on a lower section of the property. Its near the natural spring and is shaded. There are no convenient bathroom facilities at this location so it is recommended to bring your own. Reaching the porta-potty would require an extensive uphill hike or driving around to the other entrance. To reach this campsite, the driveway could be considered rough terrain so drive slowly. Lowered vehicles or those with little ground clearance are not recommended.  Each campsite has a max occupancy of 2 people. If you need space for more campers, please reach out to us about how many are in your party. We can host groups with advanced notification. Overlanding vehicles are welcome. Attractions: If you are looking for birds-eye view of the area, visit the Mendota Fire Tower only 3.2 mile away. You can see it from the farm and see the farm from it. It's about a 15 minute hike from the road. You can choose the mildly challenging way up or take the old roadway for a smoother walk. Clinch River is only 20 minutes away. Cool off in the river or enjoy kayaking and tubing opportunities from Clinch River Adventures. Closest convenience store is about 15 minutes away. Closest Grocery store is about 20 minutes away. Friendly-leashed pets are welcome on the property. Remember to always keep your pet tethered as we have free roaming animals on the property. Never leave pets unattended on the property. Please clean up after your pets! All guest must sign the liability waiver on our website.

Creeping Thyme Forest

7 sites ¡ RVs, Tents75 acres ¡ Abingdon, VA
Early settlers of this area were mainly Scotch-Irish and there are several dominant family names that still populate these areas. Tobacco was grown in the area for many years, but now is rarely seen. This whole valley between two mountain ranges was chosen in the 1970's to be dammed and made into a reservoir for a hydroelectric power plant; however, the residents at the time formed a strong resistance, went to Washington, and eventually blocked the development, preserving its natural beauty. This land is within the Jefferson National Forest. It was owned for many years by Roy Light, owner of a nearby lumber mill, but when he passed away, his children cleared the timber and moved away. Since then, the diverse deciduous forest has regrown quickly. A rustic cabin made from salvaged hand-hewn logs was built on the site in 2014 and an alpaca farm was established; however, the owners had to move away due to employment changes. Currently, we are working on developing a perennial food forest, as well as dairy goats, and chickens.

CR Adventure Outpost

7 sites ¡ Lodging, RVs, Tents93 acres ¡ Coeburn, VA
Strategic Location for peaceful camping with lots of nearby options. Camping is very primitive and rustic as new amenities come online in planned future. The best time of booking is the weekend at present. We have: Wooded/Grassy hills with plenty of tree cover and open space to spread out . A uniquely positioned community fire pit is available with an impressive view.  It is very rustic and primitive, but well kept, quiet, secluded, with developing  surroundings.  There is direct access to Jefferson National Forest and miles of hiking, biking and horseback trails. Equestrians encouraged, but is Bring your own horse and Tie Line. Nearby sites include Bark Camp Lake, Guest River Gorge, Bear Rock, Little Stony Falls, Chief Benge Trail, Devils Bath Tub, and High Knob. We are also located along several driving and scenic routes to include: Backroads of the Cumberland's, Appalachian Backroads, Virginia Wildlife and Birding Trail, and Thomas Jefferson Scenic Byway (Rt. 72). In addition, within a short drive there is an ATV trailhead in the local town. The Clinch River is not far at all as well.  There is a small quaint downtown less than 5 miles with grocery, gas, supplies, and a few places to eat. Mission: The original idea for CR Adventure Outpost came many years ago. We grew up visiting "Grandma & Grandpa" in Wise County and developed a deep love for the area, the outdoors, and all it had to offer. There came a point, , when we realized that the amount of outdoor activities and authentic cultural experiences could indeed support visitors. It could also support many business opportunities once everyone became aware of what was all around them. At that point, a process began of research and planning on ideas some thought were pointless. People deeply want to get back to nature and withdrawal from a fast paced materialistic society, at least long enough to realize what is really important in life. There is a huge need and vast opportunity to take advantage of the many beautiful landscapes in Southwest Virginia.

BelleBrook Acres

8 sites ¡ RVs, Tents17 acres ¡ Bristol, TN
BelleBrook Acres is a 17 acre working farm in the heart of Bristol, TN. Prior to us purchasing this farm it was one of the first dairy farms in Tennessee dating back to 1901 and was an active dairy farm up until about a decade ago. We're located 8 miles from the Bristol Motor Speedway; 7 miles from Osceola Island and the South Holston Dam with hiking & bicycle trails as well as some of the best fishing around; 8 miles from The Pinnacle which is packed full of restaurants and outlet shopping; and 3 1/2 miles from the downtown and State Street where you can literally walk in both Tennessee and Virginia at the same time which is lined with restaurants, escape rooms, a pool hall, comedy club, bars and more! We're centrally located within the city limits and just minutes from anything in Bristol. During your stay at our farm, you'll get to meet our resident welcoming committee comprised of Jasper the donkey, several very friendly cows, goats, chickens, and horses. Our allocated camping area is situated on the far end of the farm and surrounded by several pole barns and an outhouse providing a sense of privacy. You're welcome to hike up through our horse pasture which leads up to an amazing view atop the hillside. (Our animals are all very social, but you would be exploring the property at your own risk of course.) We do offer elopement packages as well and can provide an officiant at no extra charge. All you'll need is a Sullivan County, TN marriage license and we can take care of the rest!

Kennedy Historic Farm

9 sites ¡ RVs, Tents165 acres ¡ Cleveland, VA
This camping experience takes place on a 200+ year old farm. We currently offer 8 camping options, 7 of which are all accessible by either all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicles.  The first location (along the main road) is solely for RVs or travel trailers (TT). The other 7 camping locations are for tent camping, and much smaller/narrower and rugged RV/TT with a 4-wheel drive towing vehicle. Daniel and Cherith Kennedy purchased this 164-acre farm in 2014, and Daniel's parents, Brent Rita Kennedy, purchased the 1800's era farmhouse from Daniel and Cherith a couple years later. Together, we have transformed this farm back into a working farm with hay fields, cattle, donkeys, goats, sheep, chickens and any other critters we buy or rescue. We are currently rehabilitating the 1700's era one room schoolhouse at the front corner of our land as well. This farm is full of memories, hard work, and is absolutely stunning. Your hosts on-site are Brent and Rita Kennedy, and they are famous for spoiling our guests rotten. They can give you tours of the farm, some in-season eggs and veggies as they have available, and even throw in some goat-petting opportunities. They love having visitors and are sure to make your trip memorable.

Stormbrew Farm

18 sites ¡ Lodging, RVs, Tents18 acres ¡ Abingdon, VA
Nestled in the breathtaking Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia, , hens, ducks, bees, Great Pyrenees, and cats pastorally roam over 18 acres of rolling farmland and forest. Experience our favorite parts of Stormbrew Farm through a primitive camping experience. Learn more about this land:An agrarian dream- a literal field of possibility. With 18 acres to choose from you may find yourself sleeping along the lazy Fifteenmile Creek, atop a hill under Virginia stars, or even set up with pastoral views of hens and Great Pyrenees dogs. The roadfront side of our property offers level terrain for pull-behind trailers, while vehicles (preferably 4WD) and tent campers can travel all the way back to the creek. Feeling froggy? Ford the stream and camp in the large field on the other side. Be sure to mind the animals and fields, as this is a working farm. One mile down the road from the farm is the Virginia Creeper Trail, renowned for biking, but as a multi-use trail, you can also enjoy walking, running, horseback riding, fishing, cross country skiing, and geocaching. South Holston Lake is only minutes away by vehicle, with two public access boating ramps 10 to 20 minutes away. For a drink by the water, head to Abingdon Vineyards- only 10 minutes away. Access to the Appalachian Trail is only 20 minutes away in Damascus. We became caretakers of this lovely property in June of 2021, moving from our existing farm, 45 minutes away. When we got it, it was a blank slate of a hayfield, and we have spent the summer laying infrastructure so that we may grow our cut-flower, honey, and vegetable business.
