The Brazos Electric Power Plant is located on the lake. The power plant helps to keep the water warmer during the winter months keeping the fishing better in that area where an 83-pound Flathead Catfish was known to be caught. Lake Palo Pinto RV Park is just 14 minutes to Palo Pinto, 25 minutes to Mineral Wells, and about an hour from Fort Worth. It is north of I-20 about 10 miles. Nearby points of interest include Clark Gardens Botanical Park, Holiday Hills Country Club, Mineral Well Fossil Park, The National Vietnam War Museum. Take The Baker Hotel ghost walk tour, where you can learn about the historical significance of the hotel, its ghostly inhabitants, and the history of the City of Mineral Wells. Downtown Mineral Wells is home to more than 20 murals featuring everything from flying pigs to human-sized butterflies and interactive murals to portrayals of local people from days gone past. Downtown Mineral Wells has over 100 historic buildings with boutiques, antique shops, and specialty stores, plus restaurants that offer patio dining and live music. Mineral Wells was named for and is still famous for its mineral waters. The town boomed as a health resort after 1885, when the Crazy Well was dug. The Mineral Wells Fossil Park at the old City of Mineral Wells landfill’s borrow pit, which closed in the early 1990s but then revealed fossils documenting ancient sea species such as crinoids, echinoids, and other historic sea life from the Pennsylvania Period over 300 million years ago. Fossil collecting is allowed in designated areas only, and only surface collecting is allowed with small gardening tools at the park. Take a guided tour of Guest Ranch Exotic Game Hunting where you will see their different species of antelope, buffalo, deer, and sheep. The best times to go on this tour are early mornings and late afternoons, and the cost of the tours begin at $35.00. Check out the Palo Pinto Mountain State Park that comprises 4,871 acres of former ranch land about 23 miles west of Palo Pinto Creek Reservoir. When fully developed, this park will offer hiking, camping, fishing, stargazing, and other outdoor activities. Plateaus with beautiful vistas overlook sheltered canyons. Palo Pinto Creek winds through the northern border of the park. A dam on Russell Creek impounds the 90-acre Tucker Lake, the centerpiece of the park. Plans for the park include an extensive network of multi-use trails for hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Trails will lead to remote areas of the park with expansive vistas.

Fuller's Folly River Ranch

Sundancer On The Brazos sits on Comanche Creek in an isolated forest on a 350 acre working cattle ranch with a quarter mile of river frontage! The Comanche were quite active up and down this part of the Brazos when the earliest settlers arrived around 1850, until the Comanches' eventual conquest by the Texas Rangers and their Colt pistols around 1870; we have found lots of flint and some arrowheads on high places here. Going further back in history, the Fuller's Folly River Ranch has an abundance of petrified wood, they say that if you have fossilized sea shells you were under water, but if you have petrified wood you had land creatures. Hunting for petrified wood is a fun adventure here. (But leave them for the next person to discover!) Weatherford is only 10 minutes away and Granbury is only 20 minutes away; both have great restaurants. And this close to Fort Worth (30min), you could actually commute and have a ranch to come home to at night--note the lower pricing mid week.

Friends have enjoyed escaping here for years. I decided to share the zen. It's a bit rough around the edges but if the new venture succeeds it will only get better each time you visit. Patio with a view of Lake Granbury and surrounding valley of at least 3 counties. Communal: Bonfire area when there isn't a burn ban (bring your chair). Guests have access to a fully equipped shop with every tool to build with. We have hosted over 400 DIYers here who have built amazing nomad adventure vehicles. There is quiet camping away from the activity at the shop but the focus is on building here and we allow generators and power tools 24/7 because often our guests work through the night during the hot summer months. Our mission is to make the transition from sticks and bricks to life on the open road as easy and painless as possible for all DIYers of every skill level. We are a DIY build location where people live on site and DIY build their vans, Skoolies, RV's, trailers, etc. We have bus and RV parking available and we have lots of boondocking space available for those who prefer primitive campsites either in a vehicle or tent camping.We are just now expanding out into general campsites and Hipcamp is our first effort at this. We are well establish, going on 3 years and we have drawn customers here from coast who have converted their vans and buses for great adventures.Our Hipcamp camping area is away from the busy shop and is very quiet and peaceful. No light pollution out here and star gazing at night is amazing. Our property is on the banks of the Brazos River just north of Possum Kingdom Lake and just south of Graham, TX. The fishing is usually excellent and we often see 20+ pound catfish and bass caught sitting on our riverbank. The channel is deep and wide and you may swim at your own risk and canoeing and kayaking are always an option. Trees are Live Oak, White Oak, Red Cedar, and Mesquite 20 to 30 ft tall, the ground is rocky and covered with flint and quartz and arrow heads are often found here as this was once reservation land. In the summer months we do have copperheads, rattlesnakes, scorpions, and tarantulas roaming around although we don't see them often. Guests should be aware of their surroundings at all times though. Winter time is when it's great to roam and explore as temps are mild and the critters are hibernating.Population here is sparse at approx 1 person per sq mile in our county and our place is very private and secure. Wildlife is abundant and there are several great short trails to hike on our property or adventure as far as you like in the river bottom which is public land. The town of Graham population 8k is 5 miles away and has all the daily required retail stores and fast food. And there are wonderful shops and local history to explore.

There are 4 miles of dirt and rock hike and bike (non-motorized) trails and five partially covered docks with moorings and swim ladder on Lake Godstone. We rent UTV's, golf carts, pedal boats, canoes, kayaks and a row boat to help our guests enjoy the lake and the forested lake and upper wooded meadow. Our specialty is serving families and church groups. The entire campus can be rented for large groups up to 100 people. Wildlife is abundant and the spring and summer flowers are beautiful. Come and enjoy the best fire pits anywhere..... and the peace and quiet is pretty awesome a well. An Experience, not a Destination! Wifi is campus-wide and is provided at no charge.

Walking through the park and the square is just magical at Christmastime. Easy Like a Sunday Morning is nestled just outside the city limits of Granbury, Texas (approximately 3 miles from Granbury Historic square) @ a private residence just outside the city limits. New laundry facility down the road, dump station @ Thorp Springs RV park (20 dollars), Davids Grocery store and Dollar General, all only .03 miles away. This is not really a vacation destination but more a safe place to stay coming to town to explore all Granbury has to offer or a place to catch your breathe while traveling on the road. Friends have enjoyed escaping here for years. I decided to share the zen. It's a bit rough around the edges but if the new venture succeeds it will only get better each time you visit. Patio with a view of Lake Granbury and surrounding valley of at least 3 counties. Communal: Bonfire area when there isn't a burn ban (bring your chair). Located at the end of the road. There is over 20 acres. Some cleared and some still in original woods. Trees, grass and deer everywhere. There is over a quarter mile of Brazos riverfront property although you cannot get to the river on all of it due to it being in its natural state. There is a beach at the main camp that provides easy in and out of the water. the water depth varies with the rainfall but is usually between 2-4 feet deep.
