this is Paradise on Lake Texoma

27 sites · Lodging, Tents100 acres · Pottsboro, TX
Paradise on Lake Texoma (formerly Paradise Cove) is a beautiful, secluded commercial campground located in the "Big Mineral Arm'' of Lake Texoma. Built in the 80's by the Corps of Engineers, Paradise has been a mainstay of the lake for many years. Recently, the current management team are working to grow Paradise into something special. With a huge focus on community and culture, Paradise has tons of space for people to come together and enjoy the company and also areas to wander off and find a quiet lakeside spot to relax. You'll also be able to catch one of the best breathtaking sunsets on the lake! The wildlife we have on the property is amazing! I have deer that sleep in my front yard, opossums, 600 bird species, and my favorite… the armadillos! We offer Kayaking on the property for a fee. We have a beautiful Hammock Garden free for guests to kick back and relax. Texoma Water Taxi is a text away to give guests a ride anywhere on the lake including restaurants. Rock-N A Ranch is roughly 20 minutes away and offers horseback riding. The Cabins and Campsites are within walking distance from each other but far enough away to create that illusion of privacy. We do have a neighborhood close by but you can’t see or hear them due to the woods.  In my travels, I try to bring back something I’ve seen or learned to help improve the guest experience and environment. You’ll notice little touches of Asia, Mexico, and even Hill Country Texas! We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and treat every guest like family. We’re always a text away! You’ll see us out and about on our golf carts. If you ever need anything just holler (: Check-in time is at 3 pm. Our staff works really hard to make sure everything is perfect for your stay and we can’t guarantee it will be if you arrive before then. Parking, we work really hard to keep our property beautiful. Be sure to park in parking areas only.

Camp Tonkawa Woods & Horse Camp

8 sites · Lodging, Tents35 acres · Collinsville, TX
In the early 1900’s an iconic red barn was built near the hilltop along the road between the old Mt. Zion community and Collinsville. Later in the 1900’s, the land was mostly abandoned by its owners, but not by the local fishermen! They knew its woodland fishing pond never dried up, and so was able to support a better population of fish. They also dumped a cornucopia of old motorcycles, cars and farm equipment in the front field. What else were you supposed to do with scrap metal in North Texas horse country? In 2002 the Holtzman family purchased the 35 acre tract of land. They dug a front pond for swimming and paddling, buried the scrap metal (although occasional bits of history still work their way up!), restored and brought horses back to the barn, and began consulting with local biologists about supporting native wildlife. April Holtzman launched Camp Tonkawa Outdoor Learning Center on the property to provide a beautiful, safe place for families to explore and learn about nature. Camp Tonkawa continues to host overnight and day camps with educational programing organized around various themes including: Native American culture, nature awareness, basic camping skills, primitive survival, organic gardening, herbology, outdoor cooking, western days, and horsemanship. We also host field trips and frequently conduct Girl Scout journeys for all levels in the "It's Your Planet, Love it!" series. Due to Covid-19, which limited working with groups for our educational programing, we joined Hip Camp where families who could isolate in nature together on our property.

Fieldsong Farm

2 sites · RVs, Tents13 acres · Lucas, TX
In 2013, we bought our 13 acres from a larger parcel of land that had been owned and farmed by the Snider family for 150 years. (Note that we live on Snider Lane). The Sniders played an important part in the development of our town, Lucas, and surrounding schools. The rest of the land has been sold to two families, and all three purchasers (that includes us!) are establishing small family farms. Hurray! Plus the Snider's old house and barn next door are being renovated by the new owners! Since 2013, we have brought in water and electricity to the land, built fences, a house and several barns. We have a flock of chickens, a bunch of loud, nosey Nubian dairy goats, 2 cats and 2 dogs. We farm organic vegetables, and have planted some fruit trees. We are committed to conservation of our land and the wildlife that call it home, and are working to restore our wildflower meadow (location of the campsite) to original prairie state. Come see us; we'd like to share it all with you! Learn more about this land: Come to Fieldsong Farm, absorb the peace and serenity, and leave refreshed!  Stake your tent on the edge of our tallgrass wildflower meadow, and immerse yourself in diversity where the city ends and the country begins.  Enjoy a fire in the fire ring from your seat on a "porch" swing as the sun goes down and the wildlife begin their nightly symphony.  When the sun comes up, you'll have many choices to make--cycling, horseback riding, fishing, boating, paddling, hiking, running, strolling, visiting with the goats, cats and chickens, helping with farm chores, or just sitting to enjoy the peace and serenity of the farm.  There are many great shopping and eating choices withing 15 miles.   Breakfast will be brought to your campsite for an additional fee, booked in advance.  Horse pasture rentals is available, also booked in advance.  (We do not offer horseback riding,) Eggs, local honey, seasonal veggies, baked goods artisan food products, goat milk products and firewood are available for sale.  No dirt bikes, ATVs or RTVs; no motorcycles except as transportation. Camping in Lewisville Lake with fishing guide

Overview

Fringed by parklands, swimming beaches, and shady woodlands, Lewisville Lake feels a world away from Dallas—despite being less than an hour from downtown. Getting on the water is easy, whether you want to launch your boat from one of five marinas or numerous boat ramps, rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard, or fish for bass, crappie, and catfish. Summer brings the crowds to the lake, with a host of parties and open-air events held around the lakeside, but the many campgrounds, RV parks, and lake-view cabin rentals are all available year-round.

Where to go

West Shore

Parks, campgrounds, and recreation areas dot the west coast of Lewisville Lake, drawing large crowds on summer weekends. If boat parties sound like your idea of fun, head down to Party Cove by Westlake Park on a Friday or Saturday evening. Alternatively, escape the crowds at the rustic campsites of Sycamore Bend or practice your swing at one of the inland golf courses.

East Shore

If you prefer lake views and brisk hikes to partying and picnicking, head over to the east shore. Hidden Cove Park and Wynnward Park have wildlife-filled wetlands and scenic nature trails, among them the popular Tribute Shoreline Nature Trail, or you can play golf along the Stewart Peninsula. As for camping, there’s a choice of cabins, RV sites, and a bunkhouse at Hidden Cove.

North Shore

The north shore of the lake forks off into peace-sign-shaped fingers, where you can paddle around secluded coves and cruise past picturesque lakefront villas. There are no campgrounds here, but if you’re looking for a challenge, you can hike, paddle, or horseback ride through the 39-mile Greenbelt Corridor, which connects Lake Lewisville to nearby Ray Roberts Lake.

South Shore

The LLELA Nature Preserve hugs the south shore of Lewisville Lake, where walking and kayaking trails lead the way around scenic wetlands, lakeside forests, and prairies. There’s a campground within the preserve, or you can pitch your tent or park your RV at Stewart Creek Park, a good choice for hikers and bikers, or Lake Park, which has a swimming area
