The Farm at Piper Hill
4 sites · Lodging100 acres · NCWhat happens when you take an absolutely beautiful farm property, and add very friendly animals, mix it up with some rescue animals-including a camel and wallaby, utilize reclaimed wood dating back to the 1700's for outbuildings and even recreate a mining area that has recently unearthed artifacts and fossils? You get a bespoke outdoor experience to unwind, wander and entertain almost anyone in your family. The property is set on over 100 acres with one of the largest spring fed ponds in the area, loaded with trophy sized largemouth bass and catfish. The 1870 Farm Family of Chapel Hill, alongside the Kids farms Foundation, sought to save this property from development. This oasis is now an outdoor farm-based learning environment for children and a sanctuary for rescue animals. Visitor experiences at the farm include hands on time with our farm animals, fishing, kayaking, hayrides, hiking, mining for gems, treasure hunting at the creek and so much more! We also have curated experiences for date nights, afternoon picnics, family gatherings and just about anything you can dream up! Our large open spaces, open air barn and beautifully decorated barn house will make your wedding or special event all the more beautiful. For the kids, we offer birthday party packages, overnight retreats, day camps and summer camps. Our glamping and overnight stays offer a serene, relaxing environment to break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Seasonal events such as our Easter Egg Hunt, Oktoberfest and Winter Festival will bring families from all over the Triangle together for some good old fashioned farm fun!

Self Sufficient Holler
3 sites · Lodging, Tents10 acres · Moravian Falls, NCIn the 40's and 50's this spot was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Even buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, get some rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town. Be sure to look at the activities section below for additional information.

Savage Acres on Craig Creek
3 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents101 acres · VAWe're blessed to live along Craig's Creek just north of Roanoke VA, with lots of mature hardwood forest, pasture, and an 1830s log cabin where we live. We love to share this special place with visitors, and have some basic amenities for campers. The campsites are at the edge of a large pasture and just a few steps from Craig Creek and our big swimmin' hole. Totally secluded in a remote valley - no houses or roads in sight (but our cabin is a short walk through the woods if you need something), no cell service for most providers, but within a short drive of Roanoke and Blacksburg, and countless outdoor recreation opportunities.

Mike's country home and land
11 sites · Lodging50 acres · SCWelcome to Creekside FarmCreekside Farm is a place where you can slow down and enjoy things you might not normally notice. We are glad you are Here.We invite you to sit back, take your shoes off, and breathe deeply as you read this – slowly.Creekside is very special place where you, and those important to you can unplug and gently "be" with eachother. My wife Beth and I fell in love with this property because it has a unique way of calling us out of our busy livesand into a meaningful space of connection with our senses, each other and those we care about. We hope youhave the chance to experience this on your visit. In my work as a leadership consultant and executive coach I've had the opportunity to find a few "bestpractices" for a meaningful experience of life. I offer them to you below should you want to try them out duringyour visit. I promise they will impact your time here - and your time when you leave here - tremendously:Being and DoingSometimes it’s just fine to sit down and not do anything.Experience and CaptureSometimes you don’t need to capture an experience, just experience it.Quality and QuantitySometimes quality of life is more satisfying than quantity of life. Maybe less is more.Sensing and ThinkingSometimes thinking is overrated. Sitting still and sensing what is right in front of us can be eye-opening.Silence and NoiseSometimes saying nothing says everything. Turning off the phones and devices and listening to the nature’ssounds can further awaken and resensitize us.Below you will find information about this special place. It includes invitations, requests and details about howthings work here at the farm.We invite you...1. To use your time here to nourish your Self, Spirit and Body. Walk, breathe, smell, touch, see, and taste whatyou desire.2. To put away your phones and devices and be with the people you are here with.3. To remove your shoes when in the home and feel the floor under your feet.4. To be outside whenever you can. There is goodness out there. Go anywhere you want on property, it isbordered by the creek.5. To eat slowly, talk slowly, walk slowly and just hang.

Arcadia Sanctury
10 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents83 acres · VAArcadia is the name we gave to our 83-acre mountainside retreat center for Earth-Based Spirituality. It’s nestled on the south-eastern slope of 4000-foot Mount Pleasant in Central Virginia, convenient to I81. (Note, there is a town called Arcadia off I81, but that is not us. Not to confuse.)We have a mountain creek with waterfalls, towering Beech and Sycamore trees, Witch Hazels leaning over the water, trout, crayfish, snakes, salamanders, and all the rest. We have about 2000 feet of the vertical mountainside with trails to explore. (But the stage and most of the camping is down closer to creek-level.)  There are more sites higher up the mountain if you like more isolated camping.  More of a trek to the bathrooms/showers/freshwater.We have one of the finest private stages on the East Coast with a top-notch sound system and a natural amphitheater which is like a single pie wedge of a Stadium that has regular live performances throughout the spring, summer, and fall.  Our yurt is regularly booked as a unique glamping experience.  There are chickens, ducks, turkeys, and guinea fowl free-roaming.  One dog, eight cats, and several humans are blessed to call this home.
