Everything else you will to bring to enjoy the million dollar views. Oh, and on the opposite side of the camping site is quiet slough which is great for smooth water paddling and exploring. Down the gravel road about 1/3 miles are logging roads to hike, bike and explore. OHV trails are a couple miles away but check local maps for detailed information. There is a port-a-john available. You will need to bring your own firewood if you desire a campfire.

Search for agats and yooper rocks; bring a black light. Situated on 8 acres of old growth forest, your short walk to the lake is through a park like preserve. Keep your eyes open for wildlife as you cross the boardwalk to the beach. Bring your kayak and or paddle board for a unique experience. Nestled in the back of the cabins and up a small hill lay three rustic campsites. These campsites are available for rent; perfect for the Eco Tourist, and not for the faint of heart. When we say rustic, it is rustic. No utilities or facilities (toilet not) provided. Toilet paper if needed. Parking is in a different spot; all sites are walk up. Please be aware that vehicle camping is not allowed on property. Currently there is a communal fire pit, as well as fire pits on each site. Private picnic tables and communal tables surround the grounds. Additionally, each site is provided with a trash can and BBQ grill. Along with our large campsites there is a yard for the kids to play and access to our private beach. Many other trails, lakes and rivers are in the area along with several shopping opportunities. Our almost 4 acre slice of paradise. Last stop on the Ontonagon River before Lake Superior. Public access to Lake Superior is a short walk from our yard. When there are no burn bans, you can have a fire in our fire pit. We do have some larger wood available onsite at no charge if you wish to use it. Note: There is an active factory next door that has gotten busier and can make a lot of noise. Daytime noise probably isn't too problematic but it can go on at night too. Last year we opted to not offer camp sites for this reason. This year we decided to open up but to make sure guests know the potential. It is a weld shop so the noise is usually grinding or pounding of a hammer. In warmer weather, they open the door and it can be noisy for sure...but many have said it is still quieter than where their home is. Please be sure you are okay with this before booking. They currently work 5am-3am M-Thu and then a small crew 5am-5pm Fri-Sun. Friday-Saturday and Sunday are least likely to make noise but it is still possible.

We are conveniently located between Calumet and McLain State Park as well as adjacent the Swedetown Recreation Area (our property touches Swedetown's boundary and the M203 trailhead is just down the road). Using us as a basecamp, everything the Keweenaw has to offer is easily within reach. Important details regarding our sites: Sites 1 - 3 are for tenting groups. Among these sites 1 and 3 will accommodate multiple tents while site 2 only has room for one. There is a short walk to access our tent sites. Sylvan Pond Campsite

Our campsite is nestled in mixed northern hardwoods and conifers with over a dozen species of trees around the camp area. The site is graced by a large old Oak tree and many larger Maple and Birch making it a well shaded site and protected from wind. A wildlife pond is near the tent sites which hosts frogs and turtles and an occasional passing beaver, otter or muskrat. Deer and Turkey are frequently seen and the area is on migration pathways for Raptures and many songbirds. The site is a few hundred feet from the Northwest corner of Farmers Block Road and is an ideal base camp for biking, hiking, paddling and fishing adventures in Keweenaw County. Only one mile from Lake Superior and the Gratiot River - many outdoor activities are easily accessible. Additional flat tent site undeveloped are close to the site if you have a larger group and need more tent pads let us know and we will try to accomodate you.
