Although Antioch proper isn’t prime for camping, motorhomes can scoot over to Bethel Island’s RV parks with full hookups, restrooms with showers, on-site communal BBQs, wifi, and boat rentals from the marina. Looking to pitch a tent? Head 20 minutes south to campsites in Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve. RVers and equestrian campers are welcome, too, and amenities like picnic tables, pit toilets, and non-potable water keep everyone comfortable. Dive deep underground on a guided mine tour, then hike or go horseback riding on hiking trails like the Old Homestead Loop Trail. Next, head out to explore Golden Gate National Recreation Area, roughly one hour away. Tent camping is available in the park, and amenities include picnic tables, garbage bins, food storage lockers, and vault toilets. Pet-friendly campgrounds with RV sites featuring water and electrical hookups for big rigs can also be found just outside the park boundary in Greenbrae.
