Come and enjoy a traditional, rustic camping experience on the mighty Ottawa River! Bring your water shoes and a canoe or kayak (or you may rent one of ours) for an unforgettable adventure. Located on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, east of the bridge that passes over from Hawkesbury, Ontario, this beautiful (mostly) deciduous forest is situated on both sides of the 344/Rte Des Outaouais. The 59 acre property (50 acres on land, ~9 acres of river/water) features scenic views, privacy and is host to many outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and more. The Point... The main shared area "The Point", is the peninsula that the main roadway ends at (where the BBQ, kayaks and canoes are), this is a shared area for us and our guests to enjoy. The Point offers a large picnic table, a propane BBQ, comfortable seating, a large rock perfect for sunbathing, and a river view. It's an ideal spot for swimming and launching canoes, kayaks, or paddle-board river excursions, thanks to its shallow entry and rocky bottom. Adventurous visitors might choose to paddle upriver, around an island, and return through the remaining historic canal. For a more strenuous workout, consider paddling up the canal to the Grenville lighthouse and then drifting all the way back to camp with the river's current. Enjoy this historic, lazy river experience! Nearby Amenities... Numerous amenities are located within a distance of 1-3 kms, including a gas station with electric vehicle charging facilities, an IGA grocery store, and various restaurants such as McDonald's and Tim Horton's. For a classic poutine experience, Jos Patate is a great choice, having been around for many decades. If you're looking for a wide range of poutine options, La Fromagerie is the place to go and for ice cream lovers, La Crémière is located in the same building! ...It is a "must-visit" on a hot summer day. Tourism... Numerous tourist attractions are conveniently located in the vicinity, such as the exhilarating white water rafting experience on the Rouge River and the wildlife-filled Parc Omega zoo, both within a short 10-25 km distance. For a wider range of activities, day trips to Ottawa, Montreal, the Calypso water park, or Mont Tremblant are all approximately an hour's drive away.

If you’ve ever dreamed of being surrounded by blazing reds, fiery oranges, and shimmering golds — this is the place to be. Perched on a west-facing cliff at “The Ark,” our rustic camping shelter gives you a front-row seat to the Outaouais’ legendary fall colours and jaw-dropping sunsets. With a diesel heater, it’s now a cozy four-season ready-to-camp escape — perfect for winter snowshoe getaways or crisp autumn nights with a glass of wine in hand. The site was originally built for youth group camping, with space for tents around the firepit. The rustic shelter is a recent addition, offering a comfy bed for two while keeping the group camping vibe alive. Guests can pitch extra tents to turn the stay into a full camping experience. Kids and pets are welcome at no extra charge (just leave it like you found it). Inside, you’ll find a queen bed with fresh linens and a down duvet for cooler nights. The covered deck has handcrafted rocking chairs made for lingering over sunsets. You’ll have a private campfire area under star-filled skies, hammocks tucked into quiet corners, and an outdoor camp kitchen with a wood-fired “rocket” grill, stovetop, and camp oven. Deer wander by often, and you might spot foxes, hawks, or even a bald eagle. Down at the lake, look for loons and beavers. At night, coyotes or wolves may howl in the distance — magical to hear, but never a threat. Our 164-acre property has 10 km of forest trails, also home to Canada’s longest-running snowshoe and trail series, The Mad Trapper. Since the Ark has hosted outdoor education camps, guests can also try our permanent orienteering course — a fun way to test your navigation skills before the campfire. We’re just 10 minutes from the Gatineau River, where you can rent our canoes and explore calm waters and islands. The shelter is a short walk from parking (we’ll haul your gear by ATV) and has good cell reception. What’s Not Included (On Purpose!) There is no electricity, no running water, no fridge, no stove, and no flush toilets. You’ll have lanterns for light, a cooler for food, and a rustic outhouse nearby. Think of it as camping with a few comfort upgrades — a real bed, a roof, and unforgettable views. Come unplug, breathe deep, and watch the seasons change from your own private cliff.
