'Whispering Pines' was bought about 35 years ago as our dream retirement home, a place to rest, have a quiet life, enjoy nature and have a peaceful retirement for ever and ever...In past years we have been a family camp. and an event camp with camping festivals, special events, and day visits. Now we welcome visitors who are looking for a casual, rustic, laid back experience with nature in a simple, peaceful setting. Nature is allowed to thrive on our property, and the entire property is forested and wild. The majority of our campsites are shaded under a verdant and lush canopy. Our private beach and small lake welcome you for a swim. All we ask of our visitors is: that whatever you bring in you take home with you, that you leave your campsite and the property the way you found it, and the only thing you take from here are pictures and happy memories. All of our campsites are off-grid, un-serviced, drive-in camping. Campfire wood and recycling facilities are available on site. Maintained outhouses are available throughout the property. There is no potable water on the property so please bring your own drinking and cooking water. Children under 12 can camp for free. When booking a campsite please only include any guests over 12 years of age in your guest count. Children under 12 do not need to be included in your booking. Contact us to inquire about large group and event rates. We host LARPing weekends twice a month. We also have a limited number of seasonal sites available from June to September. I love this property and all the people who visit us, many have become extended family and for this I am grateful. There is nothing nicer than to have people drop by and spend a couple of hours, a day or a weekend, sometime when I get real lucky it's for a longer period of time :-)

Lanthorn is situated just north of Wakefield Quebec surrounded by forest, creeks, waterfalls, and hikes with views of the surrounding area. Our farm grows willow for basketry and living structures. We can also arrange to teach a weaving class for a fee. To learn more about our farm, you can visit Lanthorn.ca. On the property, there is also a large pottery studio which offers classes that you can book in advance of your visit. To do so, you can visit muraiceramique.com for details. We are home to a deer refuge founded in partnership with the Humane Society Canada which cares for a herd of sika deer rescued from a zoo closure. We also raise a small number of chicken, and sheep.

Includes all cooking tools you need for a good meal. Hot water and shower facilities are seasonal. You’ll enjoy access to our property, the boardwalk raised bed garden, the adjacent property's trails for a good walk! Watch the sunrise and sunset sitting on the large wrap-around porch while sipping on a relaxing cup of tea. We supply the wood to use in the fire pit, the wood-burning sauna and the earth oven. No need to worry about stoking the fire throughout the night to keep warm, the little propane fireplace is thermostat controlled and will keep you toasty warm. You’ll have access to the property which includes the garden, and the wood-burning sauna, we can give you a tour of our art studio if you wish. You’ll also have access to 2km of walking trails on our neighbouring property, we have snowshoes for our guests in the winter months.

The cabin is beautifully built and well-equipped. Mike's communication is excellent, he went out of his way to accommodate us, and he is a pleasure to chat to. The hiking trails are well-marked and the walk to the lake is beautiful, even in the late fall with barely any leaves left on the trees. We spent a peaceful and restorative two nights, and look forward to doing so again.

Neil has a great place 30 minutes away from Gatineau! U get plenty of privacy on his property. We've enjoyed the sound of the water crrek at night. There is a wood heater inside the tent so the temperature was not too cold in mid october. There is a grocery store 5 min from the camp.... Very convinient. Would recommend!

My family and I stayed in one of the bell tents at Agape Gardens. It was super clean and very well decorated. It was so inviting and cosy. Jennie smudged the tent prior to us arriving which is such an honour to have done. Jennie and her beautiful family welcomed us with a tour of the property, which we found to be extremely well looked after. From the brimming gardens, healthy live stock, well established hiking trail, to the multiple options of sites to camp at, we were very impressed. We felt at home immediately and wished we could’ve stayed longer. We also met her neighbours who were also very friendly people and jumped to help us fix some toys we had with us. We will most definitely visit this special place again. An easy 5 star review. Many thanks Jennie and Jeremy.

We had an absolutely lovely, relaxing time at Mike's cabin this weekend. The cabin is the perfect blend of rustic and cozy, with many thoughtful little amenities that made us feel at home right away and eliminated the stress of packing compared to traditional tent camping. We were lucky enough to book with fall colours in full force and were treated to stunning sunset views both nights. With enough hiking trails and wilderness to explore to your heart's content, there was plenty of opportunity to mix in some adventure. Lovely spot- very relaxing, amazing view, friendly hosts. we loved the bell tent, although we were there on the first night of October, so it got a bit chilly in the evening- luckily there were extra blankets. We were only there for one night, so didn’t get a chance to try out all of the extras but definitely would book more time on a return visit.
