This property was part of a large tree farm that was owned and operated by a well-respected and well-known family in the community. The family subdivided the land before selling the property. We are a family-run farm raising Alpacas, Llamas, cats, a dog, and horses.

Please review our pictures You will see 2 of our painted buildings - when you see these buildings from the gate, you will know you are at the correct farm.

Our Alpacas & Llamas are not 'halter broke'; however, love to visit our guests when they arrive. Pictures & videos are welcomed; however please share with the Hosts.  Everyone must wear 'closed toed shoes", around the animals.

With lots of space for kids to play, families may take long walks to our 'spring' (sorry no swimming; only for inspiration, peacefulness & wildlife) while picking wild Saskatoons, Raspberries & Rosehips (in season).

Please note our farm is 'fragrance free' - no colognes, perfumes, scented deodorant or scented bug spray.  We have 'outdoor bathrooms' for your use when one is not enough. We have tables & chairs to eat your lunch &/or snacks (bring own), as we do not offer food for sale.  Smoking allowed in your camper unit(s) only. NOT TENTS.

We have alpaca products & a variety of gifts for sale - such as: hats, mittens, socks, insoles, scarves, yarn, & raw fiber. We accept donations towards the health maintenance of our animals, as well.  Payment accepted by cash or electronic transfers (e-transfers) in either currency of Canadian or U.S. dollars - NO exchange rates will be offered (U.S. dollars are the same value as Canadian dollars).

We are close to several local towns with full services - including hospitals, gas stations, water & sewage removal stations, grocery stores (West Edmonton Mall), restaurants, etc.  

Pets are welcomed - dogs &/or cats, however they must be on a leash, cleaned up after, well behaved, and MUST BE PRE-APPROVED FIRST before request is confirmed, depending on their age & breed.

We are putting together for overnight campers, a multi-cultural recipe cookbook which will be shared on our website.  We hope you would like to share either a menu item which you cook while travelling or something you make at home with everyone.

Elk Island Getaway

Welcome to Elk Island Getaway!

Elk Island Getaway is located 20 minutes east of Edmonton and 7 minutes from HWY 16 main entrance of Elk Island Park, Alberta. 

We are also right by Elk Island Park, in addition to being an important refuge for bison, elk and more than 250 bird species, it is a great place for all your hiking, picnicking, biking, canoeing and kayaking needs.

When you enter Elk Island National Park you will know immediately that you have entered an oasis of calm.  For years people have come to the picturesque park to escape the city life, explore the outdoors and connect with nature.

Come and experience the dark sky preserve in our area that features an amazing opportunity to star gaze and to view the Northern Lights.

We have 8 campsites available for tent, van, small motorhome, and small trailers.   

Some sites accommodate large trailers.

Our group site is sites 7 and 8 please inquire if interested in this option.

We offer firewood upon *availability* for sale at an additional cost of $20 per bundle of Tamarack wood.  Please note that supply may be limited at times, as well as our availability, so we recommend placing your order early to ensure availability. 

Pets welcome on leash and owners are responsible for clean-up.

This is a camper-maintained campground.  

Please take your trash with you at the end of your stay.

Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite and rest areas for trash or spilled food. Pack out all trash, leftover food, and litter. 

There is a toilet available for campers to use but no other amenities. 

Our sites offer picnic tables and firepits.

Avant Gardens

Avant Gardens offers 3 separately rented sites: one is a studio suite; one is a small rustic cabin; and the other is a tenting (or small RV/van) area nestled in the bush on 45 acres in rural Leduc County. The cabin and camping area share an outhouse. The property is 25 minutes south of the airport and 10 minutes from Coal Lake which offers fishing, boating and more. Group camping is welcome. Firewood is available for purchase.

The property is a 25-minute drive to Edmonton. There are some short trails around the 20 acres to explore.  Far enough from neighbours to enjoy real seclusion.  Activities nearby include hiking, wildlife watching, off-roading, and biking.Campfires permitted, pets welcome.

Danny’s Croft - 80 Acre Woods

Danny’s Croft -The 80 Acre Woods boasts a variety of landforms that include a wetland, woodland, a large beaver pond, rolling hills, and open fields.&nbsp;Our home includes two goats, eight sheep, about 50 laying hens, 7 ducks, and a red footed African Tortoise. Campers are invited to feed the animals and collect organic eggs, with us, for breakfast. 

Bring your own tents, trailers, or RVs. If you're bringing an RV/trailer, the site requires levelling and can accommodate vehicles up to 49ft in length.

We have moose and deer visiting the meadow regularly and many birds call our land home.&nbsp;

This property is a nature lovers paradise and only 30 mins South East of Edmonton and Sherwood Park. Hastings Lake borders our land and water access for water sports is close. Elk Island Park is 26 km away.

Forest Retreat Cabins & Camping

.Cabins sit at the edge of 80 acres of boreal parkland forest, wetland and riparian areas along the sturgeon river, neighbouring field and farmed land. Shared full kitchen/washroom with shower available, outdoor showers, walking trails, screened shared gazebo, hammocks and picnic tables.

Camping is located on 5 acres of mowed grassland next to 10 acres of wetland area, or near the mature forest. ‘rustic’ sites

Home to Willow, poplar and Spruce in a thriving ecosystem.  Excellent Bird watching, abundant wildlife and access to the Sturgeon River (subject to drought conditions). 

Easily accessed, only minutes from a main highway. Nearby large lakes and rivers and hiking trails. Sun and shade, dark sky at night.

Sky Hound Ranch

A working Horse and Cattle Ranch that raises grass fed/ grass finished beef with regenerative agriculture practices, our motto is "Raised Naturally". With rolling pastures, wooded trails and a 12 acre wetland you can  spend time with the horses, walk the pastures and learn about regenerative agriculture, get up close to our herd of cattle, or go birding and attempt to locate the over 40 bird species on the ranch. Located just west of Lessard Lake the boat launch for fishing, canoeing, paddleboarding or any other water activity is less that 5 minutes from the Ranch. Relax at night around the fire pit as the animals graze nearby (The horses will other come for a visit)

Learn more about this land:Enjoy over 5 beautiful acres of grassy fields at Home on the Range Camping. Perfect for pitching a tent or parking your camper van or trailer. A wonderful family-friendly (including pets!) getaway close to Tofield and about a 35-minute drive to Ardrossan. Fires are permitted and we provide you with a fire pit, some firewood and a picnic table so you have a place to enjoy your meals together. We can also provide you with a jug of water if needed, just let us know!&nbsp;Spend your days relaxing in the provided hammock, or explore nearby Elk Island Park, Blackfoot-Waskahegan Park, or Strathcona Wilderness Center. There’s plenty of hiking, fishing, kayaking and biking to enjoy. We also have beautiful golf courses and delicious nearby restaurants, coffee shops and the incredible Ukrainian Village to visit during your stay.&nbsp;We have two sites for you to choose from, one in the field that is quite private, or choose the site closer to the path if you’re looking for a bit more privacy! Both sites can be accessed by a traditional car, no off-roading or 4-wheel drive vehicle is needed. Victoria Trail Campground will be opening in the summer of 2022.  We will be offering weekday, weekend and seasonal camping.  We can build you a campsite specific to your needs.

If you're bringing an RV, we can accommodate vehicles up to 45ft in length and the site requires levelling.&nbsp;

We have a garbage disposal, outhouse, access to water at the main cabin, garden plots available to rent, access to the Iron Horse Trail for quads, river is close by and are numerous other lakes for swimming, fishing etc.  There is a Sani station a few miles away, store, car wash, gas station, liquor store and several restaurants.  Laundry and groceries are 15 minutes away.

Treed private stalls and dog-friendly.  We are very accommodating to what your needs may be.

Grandma's Place

Grandma's Place is located on Jone's Beach, Lake Isle Alberta.   Available for private camping only.  Perfect for family reunions or other gatherings.   There is a lake, base ball field, green space for children's play or recreational games.  Its fairly secluded with only a few permanent residences.   Property owner is on site and is committed to making your experience the best possible! Only 2 tenting and 2 camper spots available.
