Cradle Mountain Fishery and Camping

Camp and fish just a stonesthrow from one of Tasmania's most stunning natural landscapes, Cradle Mountain. Here you'll find nature at its best, just 10 minutes drive from the Cradle Mountain Visitors centre, the perfect base for discovering this magical area. Our campsites are on scenic, levelled areas overlooking the large dam and bushland, with grassed areas ideal for tents and camper-vans, and a portaloo a short walk away. The block is a natural timber and grassland block, with devils, quolls and wombats also residing here. We have one powered site available, and multiple unpowered sites. There is a lovely walking track around the dams periphery. Feed fish from the edge, spot platypus frolicking about, and keep your eye out for Peacocks wandering the property too. Whilst you are welcome to bring your dog with you, please ensure they don't harass the wildlife. A keen fisher? Throw a line in at our other dam and catch your dinner! Nothing beats fresh fish, that you caught yourself, cooked on a campfire.

Beautiful 8 acre property situated on the edge of the Craigbourne Dam, 2 minutes from the township of Colebrook and 50 minutes from the Hobart CBD. Our property offers are great getaway experience for any traveller. The Craigbourne Dam is a all year round recreational fishing ground and stocks many species of fish i.e. Atlantic Salmon, Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout to name a few. Our property is a pet friendly park but we do ask all patrons to be considerate of the surrounding farmland and live stock . As we are a fully self contained campground we do not provide power, toilets or showers. You'll need to have your own amenities and discard of any rubbish . Limit phone coverage but still enough to call/text Contained campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place. Firewood for sale for a small fee (see Extras). This is a beautiful natural campsite on land near our home. You'll need to have your own power, toilet/shower and leave no trace. Please note: We have recently undertaken levelling earthworks and many sites are bare earth. We recommended using a mat, we have a limited number available to lend, however we recommend you bring one if you have one. Looking forward to grassed sites in a few months!

It is a private timber reserve and a working forest farm. We have a combination of native eucalypt forest and plantation, and we grow hay and our own beef. We have many walking and bike trails through the 150 acres of forest and pasture accessible to campers. The campsite has spring water on tap, a hot shower, toilet, rustic camp kitchen, wood stove, gas BBQ, level sites, and a campfire when permitted. Tent sites are flexible so you can choose your own space within a 2-hectare area, while Level pad sites are limited. The Port Arthur Historic Site and a safe swimming beach are within walking distance and Safety Cove and Remarkable Cave are only a 5-minute drive away. Longer walks, including the Three Capes tracks, are easily accessible. Launch your boat nearby to access good fishing or fish for squid off the Port Arthur jetty. There is plenty of wildlife to see at night and birds during the day. You might even see our resident Wedgetail Eagle! Dog-friendly (must be under control/on a lead/contained). The property is partly cleared and partly forested and is situated on, and surrounded by, a bend in the Mersey River in the shadow of Tulumpanga (the Gog Range). Stooge Farm is home to abundant wildlife including wallabies, echidna, wombats and a healthy population of platypus which can often be sighted at dusk along the river. Embrace rest, swimming, canoeing, fishing, barbequeeing, bushwalking, birdwatching in the lost world of Stooge Farm Tasmania Only 20 minutes from the lovely regional town of Deloraine where you can stock up on supplies, enjoy a good coffee and the many amenities and historic streetscapes. As well as camping, it is also available to rent for a variety of purposes; as the ultimate fishing retreat, for wedding, birthday and other significant life events, as a yoga, meditation and lifestyle retreat, or simply the ultimate holiday destination. This is such a special place that you really need to come and experience it for yourself to believe it. We await your visit. *Some important notes before you book: - Campers must have their own toilet and must remove all waste and rubbish. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed at all time. - River water is available but drink at own risk. - We recommend a strong vehicle, and a 4WD when towing caravans as the road in is steep. - This is a quiet peaceful place, and to respect the wildlife and other campers we have a strictly no generators, amplified music or unnecessary noise. We will have to ask you to remove your dog if it barks. - Please exercise extreme caution with fires as we are in a high risk area. Keep your fire small and in the fireplaces provided; put your fire out if there is no one attendance. No fires during windy conditions or days or fire ban. It is your responsibility to monitor and assess local conditions and fire regulations.

Check in after 9am you get a whole day BEFORE you camp for the night and check out by 3pm this way you get another day here and plenty of daylight to get to your next place. This place has river flats surrounded by wilderness and is the first private property on the river. It is 40 acres and we have MANY animals, milking goats, ducks, chickens, cows, dogs big & tiny and a pet pig who loves a belly rub. (The dogs will get out of the way of cars so just drive ahead and the dogs will move out of your way) The property has a big house that is currently empty, this is where the flushing toilet is for you to use, the hot water is via a woodfire (takes up to 9 hours to heat up water $50 per wheelbarrow load of wood) with spa bath and a shower for use if you book the house, (3 single beds and a few double bed air mattresses (Brand new still in boxes) are available for your less rugged campers who want to come but need that extra comfort or to be close to a toilet at $40 per person per night.) You are welcome to come camping anytime with a range of needs catered to. Sorry no wheelchair ramps, a single step into the house and one step into the toilet too. Pick whatever spot you like to camp, by the river, the rocky island in the river, in the bush, just on the grass anywhere. The big house is for you to use the toilet, kitchen sink and feel free to have a cold shower if you want. You can wander on the property connect with us and if you like you can help feed the animals. We are very happy to host people who love nature and enjoy organic farm life. There is NO wifi or mobile phone reception ZERO, so you can finally enjoy total tranquility. (there is a landline telephone in the big house so you can make a call if you need to, it is a private number)
