Tomerong Forest

15 sites · RVs, Tents600 acres · Falls Creek, NSW
At Tomerong Forest, you'll find 600 acres of private native forest with an abundance of wildlife, welcoming self-contained campers to immerse themselves in nature. You'll be camped just 15 minutes drive from Huskisson, Hyamms Beach, and St George's Basin - a great location if you want laid-back bush camping, but also crave a restaurant meal and a swim in the beautiful waters of Jervis Bay. It is isolated from the overcrowded tourist parks and offers great secluded camping. At the right time, you will literally not see another human for days if that is your wish! At the current moment, a 4WD is essential to access the property. All campers must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, and take all waste when they go. So if you are tired of that 6 metre x 6 metre tent site and don't want to hear the guy next door coughing and snoring, or if you just want to only hear the sound of the breeze through the trees, come and stay a few days or a week or longer if you wish. Seclusion this accessible from Sydney is a rare commodity. Pets are welcome, but please keep them under control as we value the wildlife. Sorry, no cats for that particular reason.

Berry & Beach

9 sites · Tents7 acres · Far Meadow, NSW
Amazing location so close to everything the beautiful Shoalhaven has to offer: beaches, wineries, hiking, kayaking, and more! A 5-minute drive to beautiful Berry town, 5-minute drive to Seven Mile Beach/Shoalhaven Heads (with an amazing off-leash dog area), and 15 minutes to Gerroa/Gerringong. 25-minute drive to Kangaroo Valley. 45-minute drive to Jervis Bay. Lovely forested area adjacent to our house, on acreage with views over paddocks and Coolangatta Mountain (Cullunghutti) in the distance. At the moment we have sheep and a couple of miniature horses!  We purposefully only allow a few tents / limited numbers to keep things quiet and peaceful. Please note that although the suggested camp area is adjacent to our house, there are trees in between and we will be sure to respect your peace and privacy. Each booking/site is for one tent only. PLEASE NOTE: the site is not suitable for campervans, caravans, roof tents or RVs. There is a luxury shared bathroom/shower (please do not flush anything other than toilet paper). There are two designated campfire spots, one is communal with some seating and one more private (first in best dressed!). There is generally kindling around but you will need to bring your own big bits of wood. No other fires are permitted. We request that everyone keeps the noise down / no amplified music after 10pm. (Before 10pm, please make sure your music isn't interfering with the ambience of other campers). This isn't a party place and people come to relax, enjoy nature and a bit of peace and quiet. Our preference is for cars to park in the carpark area to keep the views and vibes nice for everyone. The camp area is only a short 30 second walk to where you can set up your tent. It is fine to unload if you have access (i.e. no tents already in the way) but then please promptly park your car back in carpark. All rubbish/recycling to be taken with you. Please read the rules of the property. Dogs are allowed off leash if well behaved and will stay in the vicinity of your tent. They are not to disturb other campers, otherwise they need to be restrained at all times. Dog poo to be picked up immediately. Please also be aware that this is a farm with fenced dams and inherent risks. While children regularly stay without issues, it's important to remain cautious and mindful of these risks. Fire safety: Do -Ensure fires are currently allowed -Check to see if fires are currently prohibited for any reason. -Sparks can fly! Make sure they stay away from dry brush and that your fire is contained. -Fully extinguish the fire with water. Use water until the hissing stops, and feel a few inches above the ashes to make sure they are cool. (There is a tap / bucket in the corner, and a shovel generally around - ask if you cant find any of these things). Don’t -Leave the fire unattended. A gust of wind could cause your fire to get out of control. Being attentive is key! -Use flammable liquids. Lighter fluid can cause a fire to dangerously flare up and get out of hand. -Build a large fire. Your fire should always be under control and easy to extinguish at any time. Thanks for being careful. Enjoy!

Kookaburra is a small farm on 20 acres. A quiet location less than two minutes off the Princes Highway, located halfway between Ulladulla and Nowra on the NSW South Coast (approximately 3 hours from Sydney and Canberra). Camping is available on lush green paddocks or under the trees, a short walk from the creek. We enjoy plenty of birdlife, wallabies, and wombats (keep an eye out at dusk). Guests will enjoy solitude and space, but please be aware that other groups may be visible. There are no restroom facilities here, so guests must be self-sufficient, take rubbish, and leave no trace. We have cows, chickens and a pig. There are a wide variety of local activities to enjoy. National parks surround us for four-wheel driving, motorbiking, mountain biking, hiking and climbing. We are also within 30 minutes to numerous beaches. It is a beautiful, quiet and secluded spot to spend your next weekend or just overnight while passing through. We can cater to larger groups (ask for details and pricing), but we expect respect and quiet for our neighbours, animals, and pets. Fires are allowed, and firewood is available (cut/collect your own). We are pet friendly and love our pets, too, but please ensure they are well-behaved and leave the animals and wildlife alone. Things to note: There is little phone reception (mostly none). 2wd is generally fine unless it gets very wet. Bring a pest repellent. Wombat holes do extensive damage to unsuspecting vehicles. Snakes (Black and Browns). Bee hives (keep clear or be stung). Beware tree stumps.

Camping in Jervis Bay with hiking guide

Overview

When it comes to natural beauty, Jervis Bay is hard to beat. About three hours’ drive south of Sydney in the Shoalhaven region near Nowra, the bay stretches for 100 kilometres, bordered by national parks and holiday townships including Huskisson, Currarong. and Callala Beach. The South Coast getaway's most famous attraction is without a doubt Hyams Beach, often said to have the whitest sand in the world. But it’s just one of many beautiful beaches that dot the shore. The bay is also one of the best whale-watching destinations in Australia, as whales stop to rest in the protected waters during their annual migration from June to October.

Where to go

Jervis Bay National Park

No trip is complete without a visit to Hyams Beach, the main highlight of Jervis Bay National Park. In addition, the White Sands Walk and interconnected Scribbly Gum Track loop through the park, taking you along the coast and through forest and woodland. Stop along the walking track to go snorkelling or picnic at a secluded beach, and look out for native sugar gliders and birdlife including New Holland honeyeaters, eastern spinebills, eastern rosellas, and crimson rosellas. From an elevated viewing platform, Bull Hole Lookout offers fantastic views over the coast and surrounding dunes, all covered in swamp oak, banksias, and wattle trees. Learn the area’s history and culture on a tour with an Indigenous guide to try your hand at weaving and taste damper and native tea.

Booderee National Park

See the ruins of the Cape St. George Lighthouse perched on the edge of a cliff in nearby Booderee National Park. The park has great camping areas and is home to Australia’s only Indigenous-owned and managed botanic gardens. The area’s beaches include family-favourite Green Patch, Scottish Rocks, Bristol Point, Hole in the Wall, and Murrays Beach, a great place to watch sunrise over Bowen Island. Cave Beach is another popular highlight, known for surfing and offering the chance to see native kangaroos and wallabies.

Currambene Creek

Explore the tranquil Currambene Creek and its mangrove forests during a safari or sunset cruise aboard the iconic Husky Ferry. You might see wildlife like soldier crabs, sea eagles, and stingrays. The ferry also operates between Myola and Huskisson on weekends.

Huskisson

Just north of Huskisson, Moona Moona Beach is ideal for swimming and picnics, thanks to its shallow water, barbecue facilities, and outdoor showers. While you’re there, catch a flick at Huskisson Pictures, housed in a former community hall built in 1913, or try some local ales and a bite from a food truck at Jervis Bay Brewing Co.
