Very relaxing place to spend a weekend. The cabin was simple, yet comfortable, and the property is beautiful. Swimming in the lake was definitely the best part. Valoree and John were extremely attentive and accommodating.
Our family was looking where to spent time on weekends and have a great rest. We made the right choice when chose Tamarack place. Here we found gorgeous nature, comfortable place for stay in and all accommodations that we need. Beautiful lake, clear water, plus option of rental kayaks and canoe. Kids were so happy and had lots of fun and happiness.
Definitely will back again and again!!!! Highly recommended. Thank you Valoree and John for such Unforgettable weekends.
Tamarack lodge was a great experience. We we're looking for a place where we would be able to undergo a genuine camping atmosphere. I'm not any expert however; Tamarack lodge was perfect for what we were looking for. As soon as we entered into the lodge, we were greeted by the hosts Valoree and John. There's so much you're able to experience. We reserved a lodge room and slept in it for one of the nights, but wanted to experience the whole wonder of camping in a tent. There's so much open space to pitch a tent, it was an amazing experience. Seeing the stars and just being able to listen to the birds rather then the loud city. We went for the fourth of July weekend so there was a nice firework show down by the lake. We went on a canoe ride where John gave us a quick an informative lesson. Riding on the canoe was also an astonishing experience. Even seeing a bonfire was an eye-opener. If you plan your days correctly they have so much you can do. unfortunately our stay was only for two days and didn't get as much done as we were hoping to. Though it was still a great site to come across. Thank you Valaree and John. We didn't make it down the lake to say our good byes but we appreciated the awesome hospitality !
John and Valoree were wonderful hosts. They were more than willing and helpful to make our stay as comfortable and as convenient as needed. Valoree was quick to reply and considerate during the booking process with any questions and concerns that we had. My group brought two 10ft long inflatable boats to take out on the lake. As the trail to the lake was a short walk (quite manageable on foot but more difficult with gear and big boats!) John helped us take the boats down and back up on his utility 4x4 Kubota truck. Not just our group but he used the Kubota everywhere to bring other guests and their gear and even to haul firewood to the campfire which was awesome. We booked Fourth of July weekend and it was such a treat to be on the lake in the water to watch fireworks on both sides of the lake. An amazing experience that I will not soon forget (I have never been so close to see fireworks directly above me while laying down on a boat!). My group booked two cabins as there were four of us (occupancy of two per cabin). The cabins had two beds and were clean and comfortable with a bathroom/shower in each room which is all we needed. There was a refrigerator that was shared with all other cabins which is great if you are bringing perishables. John always setup the grill (A fire pit cooking pot/grill) for all to use which cooked anything quite fast (you can also bring your own small grill if preferred). Valoree provided coffee and muffins for breakfast both mornings of our stay. They had kayaks and canoes available to rent for some great activity on the water. The area where you can launch your watercraft was big enough for a lot of people to swim in the small beach area or to lounge and fish. There was also a public beach right across the lake (you can drive or even paddle/swim across to). The grounds were nicely kept with a few trails as well for hiking. We saw horseshoe games and an archery target behind the big bandstand. There was a ping pong table set up by the cabins and through the trees we saw the obstacle course (which we didn’t get to try). We saw other guests set up tents as well (there is plenty of room everywhere on the grounds to be as social or as secluded as you needed or preferred). All in all we had a wonderful experience at the Tamarack lodge and would definitely recommend it to others.
Rustic yet clean, beautiful grounds
When our plans to tent camp in Vermont fell through, we were so pleased to find this affordable alternative only a half-hour from Mystic Seaport and the other activities we were planning. The room in the vintage cabin was clean and cozy, simple, and exactly what we needed! The owners were very responsive. My husband appreciated all the help finding good fishing. I loved that as soon as the kids woke up we could just walk out the door and start exploring nature without waking up anyone else. The owners also built us a kick-ass campfire! We definitely look forward to coming back next year!
