Enjoy a remote, desert wilderness experience at a comfy, but rustic ranch in the land of the Ancestral Puebloans. The Ranch lies 10 miles/30 min south of Mancos, Colorado. 4WD vehicles recommended. Private, stunning 35 acres accessible only to guests. Borders Mesa Verde National Park & the Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Park. There is no public wifi or TV on site. Camping-style kitchen in cabin, outhouse, a 70-gallon water tank provided with drinking water, river on property, two+ miles of hike/bike trails on property. Main house is not open for use by HipCamp guests. Well-behaved, leashed dogs OK with deposit. We can discuss other pets.
The landscape at Scullbinder Ranch is high desert, pinyon/juniper forest, big canyons and sandstone walls. There is plenty of BLM and private property to hike on and explore. Nearby towns: Mancos (30 minutes), Durango (hour), Dolores (45 minutes), Cortez (45 minutes), Telluride (2.5 hours). There are numerous restaurants and tourist things to do in all of these towns. Mesa Verde National Park is just 40 min away. There is excellent mountain biking, mountain or desert hiking, ruin exploring, horseback riding, dirt biking and backpacking, all accessible within an hour. There is a hot spring in Durango. Plus, there are various lakes, and the Animas and Dolores rivers. This area is a recreation haven that no one knows about. LGBTQ+ and BIPOC welcome.
