Welcome: to Red Earth located in a quaint farm to table community filled with orchards, vineyards, farms and ranches. An area rich in history and filled with beauty. Tons of outdoor activities to choose from both on site and within a short drive or a fun day trip. Ask us, we'll point you in the right direction.

Designated Sites: We provide clean and quiet campsites in a few different areas on the acreage. We're sure to have a special spot you'll love....among the cedars away from it all or close to the babbling creek are just a few of the different type sites available to you. Around our mini oasis, the pond is always a favorite. We provide dry camping only. We have designated only camp sites . We no longer allow wandering off accommodations. Please do not ask. We are a safe private community and we are very aware of our guests and particularly women solo travelers, creating safe distances following covid guidelines and thoughts on security.

Parking: Driving to or near the camp site to set up and then we require you park in our secure parking area available for our guests. Thank you for understanding. The drive in is tight and we want to take all precautionary measures to allow room for emergency vehicles access. The only exceptions are vans and suv camper top vehicles or trailers obviously. We have specific sites for you. We provide dry camping only. PLEASE NOTE GENERATORS ARE WELCOME, our listing is incorrect.

Cooking: A communal propane grill and a dozen tables are available for everyone's enjoyment. Located near the grill is a chuckwagon box of grilling utensils, paper plates, salt and pepper etc. If you need something please ask. An outdoor community sink with potable water is available. Please be kind and follow the instructions at the sink.  A community fire ring is a fun way to enjoy smores and make friends with all of our guests. Plan on booking to enjoy our Smores n Stars Party near sunset.

Facilities: A private restroom with sink and toilet but no shower, located inside our home is available to our guests during the daytime hours. Emergency only between dusk and dawn due to no outside lighting to and from your campsites to the lodge. Dry camping facilities are your responsibility during the night. (If you are needing more availability for facilities please book as a guest on our ABNB site for inside the home accommodations.) If you need help or suggestions, we always provide to our guests a feeling of welcome. We are always open to suggestions as we grow and change with our guests needs. Please keep in mind the lodge home is an ABNB. Some areas will be separated for our HipCamp guests and our ABNB guests.

We're so much more... Our ranch is for all ages, and best enjoyed by adults seeking a summer camp atmosphere of ECO Nature Therapies based on our Indigenous Teachings. We have an extensive walking path system to accommodate our guests, a native prayer circle, ECO friendly places of meditation and healing, and just plain enjoying the Colorado fresh air. Quiet self led nature walks or Indigenous led ceremonial medicine walks are also available. Ask us. Remember, we are also an ABNB providing a service to those wishing to experience nature and other therapies. As our camping guests these services are available to you also. Ask us.

Blessings and safe travels.

We had an outstanding experience camping at this location! The hosts were wonderful and the amenities were perfect! We enjoyed the campsite, the grill, the bathroom, the swing, and the pure quietness of the location. We highly recommend it to all campers! It was a great place to stay while visiting the nearby wineries in Paonia!

This site was everything we could have asked for and more. Tonda is working hard to improve the experience, and I am excited to see it when it is finished. The bathroom inside was much appreciated as was the outdoor kitchen with washing station. Tonda provided cleaning supplies to use when you were finished so the facilites were clean for the next guest. (This was on top of her cleaning the bathroom as well). The picnic tables were in very good condition and Tonda was able to help us find a site that was large enough for our oversized tent. On the second night, we had a fire with some of the other campers and Tonda supplied smores. There was a pond to swim in which one person in our group decided to enjoy. Tonda also provided noodles for the pond and folding camping chairs. She even helped us plan activities for the day and gave us directions to a maar volcano on our way home.

We booked a last-minute trip to Tonda's property for 4th of July weekend. Overall it was a wonderful stay! First, Tonda was by far the most responsive HipCamp host of everyone I reached out to and was incredibly helpful answering my questions before and during our stay. We snagged a beautiful spot away from the main campsites on the other side of a creek and sleeping next to the rushing water was so peaceful. Definitely hit Black Canyon of the Gunnison for the views and Crawford State Park for a fun day on the reservoir - two of our favorite activities during our trip. Tonda's property is very unique. We loved our spot but thought it would be helpful for other campers to know that the majority of the campsites are quite close together - if you're looking for seclusion/privacy, this might not be the place for you. Tonda and her family are available for anything you might need which was helpful, but this also means they are around the property and communal bathroom area at all times - something else we thought other campers might be interested to know. There is not a whole lot of tree cover here and the days get hot, so plan to spend your days off the property! (It takes at least 30 min to drive anywhere, so planned day trips are the name of the game.) It was such a fun getaway and a great mix of self-sufficient camping and "glamping" with some extra amenities. We hope to come back sometime down the road! Thank you!

Tonda’s place was great- the camp spots were large and flat. It was so nice to have access to water, a washing area, and a bathroom. Directions were very accurate she gave. In a beautiful area just outside of hotchkiss/paonia. This was my first time using hip camp and it was a great experience

The worst camping site ever due to the following reasons.
1. All the listed information/photos is completely false and misleading
2. Campfires information at the site is false and misleading as there’s only one common campfire at the pond that all the campers should be using.
3. After 12 AM Tonda was very harsh to us and forced everyone to stay inside the tent and demanded us not to talk either because she could get some sleep.
4. Out of courtesy we remained in our car and kept our voices low, Tonda came running up to the car and knocked on the window so hard that it looked like she would break the window and again demanded us to not sit in the car too.
5. There were no private restrooms as mentioned in the listed. Instead there was a public one where we had to wait for at least 30-40 minutes to use the restroom since other campers where also using it.
6. The Pond was very smelly and wasn’t clean at all
7. Based on the listed amenities, We drove about 1000 miles to camp at this place. But after everything that we’ve experienced here we can surely tell that any other camping site would be far better when compared to red earth.

Tonda is such an incredible host! She really cares about all of her campers. The only issues we faced were with some noisy campers in the site next to ours, but she handled it very well. There is an outdoor sink, grill, and plenty of picnic tables. The 22 campsites are not spread out over the entire property like we had expected, but they were still very nice and kept up well. There’s a fire pit, small pond, and tons of seating if you don’t want to pack your own but still plenty of trees to hang a hammock if that’s your thing!

What a wonderful oasis in the middle of nowhere! Tonda was so overwhelmingly welcoming and the site is even cooler than in the photos! Beautiful coy pond, hammock, swings, beautiful setting, etc. they were also great conveniences with a kitchen sink and cleaning stuff provided as well as a real bathroom. Bonus: they have about 50 rabbits in cages that our kids liked to pet!
