Remote camping with ATV access
The BEST site we have stayed at!
Hands down the best Hipcamp we have stayed at! The land is amazing, but the quarry makes it extra special. There is plenty of space to roam and explore, and the quarry itself is absolutely incredible to see. The stars and solitude were amazing, we felt so disconnected from the world while out there. Highly recommend accessing the property via 67, and make sure you have an AWD as the roads leading in are rutted. Our Subaru handled it just fine. It was a nice drive from Denver, and would be even better from the Springs.
We can’t wait to go back!

Remote camping with ATV access
Had a fantastic time! Amazing views, within earshot of the trail but lots of privacy. If you've got the right vehicle for the trail this is an awesome spot. We stayed one night in the mine area and another in the forest area above.

Beautiful property, views are amazing, and the mine pit is just super cool.
ATV roads leading up can be a bit much if you aren’t ready for them, but I managed to crawl up in an old Mitsubishi 4x4 van and enjoyed the serenity of being so remote. I’d have planned it a bit differently if I realized how rocky and narrow the road up was. Always an adventure!

The site is beautiful, quiet and was ATV friendly. Unfortunately it had a gate that kept us to driving up to it so we had to schlep everything about 75 feet. Also the site was completely overrun with black ants. They didn’t bite but were super annoying.

Remote camping with ATV access
Awesome camping location!
This place is so cool! The photos don't do it justice to how large the rock walls truly are. Great flat camping areas at the top of the walls with easy walking access to the bottom entrance of the mine. Also, there is slight cell service at the top (I was able to reach folks arriving later in the trip via text/call).
The host, Kenny, is super responsive and very accomodating! He gave great info about how to get in and disclosed the location of trail cams to ensure privacy for all!
** FYI **
* The final stretch of the trail to get to the property IS an ATV trail so if you do not have an SUV you run the risk of having your car bottom out.
* Make sure to take the North route to get in and out as the soutern route is extremely trecherous.
Wish I brought an ATV or dirtbike! Will be back again!
