Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort

Simple campsites with a ridgetop view; morning coffee with that view was spectacular.

It's a cool property if you're staying in one of their buildings but the Hipcamp spot was basically a pull off between buildings and parking lots. Not the scenic picture we saw on the page. Convenient to Yosemite if you want to pitch a tent and save money, otherwise if you camp inside your car/van, I'd recommend just using the Portal entrance pull offs for free.

I loved tent camping here! The area on the top of the ride has a peaceful quality and great views. Stakes were a bit hard to set with the gravel, but overall a lovely experience. The spa and the cafe were huge bonuses where I got to meet and interact with interesting folks staying in the hostel from around the world!

Tent camping on the tip of the ridge was just the peaceful getaway we needed. Mountain views were a beautiful way to start the day. Don’t miss a meal at the June Bug! And the star gazing was magnificent.

Bug had such a unique feel what with the awesome set-up in the kitchen to allow guests to tag and keep their room-temperaturr and refrigerator items as well as an awesome dining hall for guests to dine in and check out the bug, photograph, crafts, and animal collections.

We tent camped at Yosemite Bug for 3 nights; I wish we could have stayed longer. The property is very steep, and the tent sites are at the very top of the property on flat pads. While very exposed, the vistas of the nearby valleys are beautiful, and we had access to all amenities 300 feet down the hill despite being removed from the bustle of the common areas. We were the only tent campers up there this time of year. There was a porta-potty at the tent sites so we didn’t have to go about 150 feet downhill to the bathrooms. Showers were very nice and well-stocked with soap/shampoo (bring your own towel). We chose to use our camp stove at our site to cook most meals but appreciated the fully-equipped kitchen where we could store our food in fridge and shelf space if we’d wanted. We came down to wash our camp dishes in the sink most nights because it was either pouring rain or very cold. I only wish the two light poles at the tent sites and trailer surrounded by bags of trash didn’t exist. The steep walkway from the common area up to the tent sites is only partially lit; once the stairs end and the hiking path begins the lights become non-existent, which we loved. But then there are two street lights at the summit by the tent sites which completely ruin the night sky view. If we need our own personal lights to make the trek up there on the footpath I should think we could rely on those personal lights to move about camp and don’t need the permanent lighting that is up there.

Great spot to stay when visiting Yosemite National Park!

We camped in a trailer in the upper lot. Place was nice, rustic. Would be nice if there had been a water spigot nearby.
Showers were clean but lacking a bench or small table to put stuff.
Had thanksgiving dinner in the June bug restaurant. Restaurant and Staff were nice. Food not so great. Came out cold, turkey dry.
