Featured on Cabin Porn (Summer cottage in the western foothills of Sierra Nevada Range, California.), this cabin is a whirlwind of sensations and tidbits. The arches are recycled from Korean War era arctic huts. The beams, windows, and door are salvaged from various demolition project-adventures, and the siding and cabinetry are home-made from locally sourced, rough sawn, beetle killed wood.
All of the building materials were carried by hand the last few hundred feet to their construction location, though an unprecedented, torrential storm in late March 2018 eradicated all hope of future vehicle access.
Luckily, this cabin is a bridge and it held strong as the creek below cut itself down to bedrock. Emboldened by a 15 minute adventure approach, ankle-twistingly perilous for the non-hiker, past wild grape, Himalayan blackberry bramble and California's ubiquitous poison oak, into the coziest, sleep-in-est, cutest, unlikeliest little honeymooner suite we could muster.
We haul water into this cabin for drinking, and once in, you can feel great about laying about for a morning a world away from everything.
We're working on building a composting toilet system for this space, but in the meantime, folks can use a non-smelly humanure-type bucket toilet at the cabin or our wonderful main farm composting toilet- Pootopia!
The shower is our main outdoor shower in the main farm area, so after long days folks may want to shower right when they get back to the farm, before they head out to the bridge for the night, or in the mornings before heading out.

🐏🐑 oh my!
The rustic accomodations is an unique experience. Each morning I was awaken by the sun shining through the windows of the cabin. The sheep will also provide salutations on your walk back to the car. The shower did provide an excellent view as the sun went below the horizon each day. The walk to the bridge is short but it is rugged. I would highly recommend bringing a headlamp that's better than a cellphone.
Matt and Eve were great hosts. The were very friendly and wasted no time in showing us around their beautiful farm. I spent two nights at the ‘Wilderness Bridge’ with my gf and it was an amazing experience! It’s about a 10 min walk from the main common area, but well worth the hike for the privacy. The common area had a very cool kitchen space equipped with a pantry and 2 gas stoves for cooking. There is running water and good drinking water from the well on the property. There are goats and sheep on the farm that they use for milk and cheese and if you ask you can meet and even pet them. Overall it was a great time and an unforgettable trip!
We had a wonderful stay at Wilderness Bridge. Eve showed us around and made sure we knew where everything was. The farm was beautiful and the cabin was cozy. Although there was a short hike (less than 10 mins) from the central part of the farm to the cabin, it was nice to have a bit of privacy and we enjoyed walking around the property. Wondernut Farm is a great location for a trip into Yosemite. I would love to stay here again!
Loved wondernut farm!!
Thanks so much for a wonderful stay, Matt! Our group had the best time!! Your place was a wonderful escape from city life. I wish we had more time.
If you are considering this as a place to stay to be near Yosemite, Do it! Highly recommend. My husband and I had fun hiking to and from our little cabin oasis. There were some ripe blackberries to pick on the way! And great stargazing at night.
We also stayed in the cabin for one night. Our friends stayed in The Lookout for 3 nights. Every cabin had its own cute and fun features.
I think an outdoor shower is a new goal I have for life.... so peaceful. And the outdoor shared kitchen/living space is super welcoming and comfortable.
Enchanting and surreal!
Amazing stop on our Honeymoon tour! We got married on 6/30/21 and picked the bridge cabin to stay at for 2 nights of our honeymoon adventure of California. Hosts - Matt, Eve, James, David, and Eve’s parents were so kind and welcoming! Wondernut Farms is a beautiful eco friendly nature lover’s paradise. The stars at night are incredibly bright. Very enchanting and surreal experience. So glad to have met these lovely humans, adorable goats, and be immersed with life in the foothills of the Sierra National Forest.
We had such a wonderful time at Wondernut and it exceeded our expectations! Matt & Eve were incredible hosts. Staying on the farm is truly a unique experience and we loved interacting with the animals, having meals in the shared kitchen, and chatting with everyone there. We were even lucky enough to see the surprise newborn sheep! The Wilderness Bridge was also cozy and perfectly secluded. We'll definitely be back again!
Great quiet weekend getaway
Matt and Eve could not be nicer hosts! Everyone at wilderness bridge was so kind and the space was absolutely adorable. Easy access to the main area of Groveland. We had a great time and would love to return. Listing is exactly as described.
We loved our stay at Wilderness Bridge! The property and the cabin are beautiful, and we loved the more remote location of the cabin. Matt and Eve were great hosts - super friendly, with lots of Yosemite tips.
