The Wild Rose Bell Tent is located at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, just an hour from Lassen National Park, Lakes Basin, and over a million acres of National Forest. The Wild Rose is a short walk from several spring-fed swimming holes, and it overlooks the meadows and creeks of the property. Simple but comfortable, the Bell Tent offers 220' of floor space, and offers one queen-size bed (with bedding), with plenty of room for additional sleeping bags on the floor. Outside the tent is a covered picnic table, BBQ, and several additional shaded tent sites. Nearby is an outdoor shower (with hot water)-- offering an on-demand water heater and a view of the Sierra Nevada range. There is also a small treehouse (and zip line) where more adventurous guests are welcome to sleep.
The Wild Rose is secluded, but not "middle-of-nowhere-secluded." Usually, the loudest sounds are the geese, but campers may also hear the train, or sounds from the town of Greenville (two miles downstream). There is also a shooting range about five miles away and some days you may hear noises from that. Otherwise, there are quite a few hike-in meditation or yoga bluffs where you will feel like a world away! The property borders over 500 acres of National Forest that you may also explore, and several secluded swimming holes. If you're on Instagram, you can view more pictures of the property and surrounding areas at @WildPlumas!
Your host family has enjoyed building lots of activities for their own children, which campers may use at their own risk- including a 50' zip line from a treehouse and a ninja warrior obstacle course. You are welcome to bring your pets, but we try to limit our impact on wild animals such as deer and rabbits, so please keep your pups on a leash.
Activities in the area: Fishing or boating at nearby Lake Almanor, or Round Valley Lake, is always popular. We also highly recommend a visit to Mount Lassen National Park (one hour). Drakesbad hot springs is also top on the to-do list!
If you have any questions about other nearby activities, feel free to reach out to us! Otherwise, many of our campers enjoy the simple things- a lawn chair with a good book in the creek, or watching the kids make little pots out of the clay in the pond. Safety first, but we always encourage adventure, playing in the mud, and free-range children. The Wild Rose may not have wifi, and we promise you will never be bored!
Was Wild Plumas affected by the Dixie Fire? No. Our property was not affected, but the nearby town of Greenville was. The grocery store still stands but the rest of town is mostly gone. There is a lot of destruction and cleanup, but no safety concerns for our guests (ask us how to find the beautiful murals painted on many of the buildings!) Thank you for supporting the businesses that survived!
Are extra people ok, and is there a charge? Yes that's fine, just no large groups please (for noise reasons). For pricing, please substitute 'tents' for 'people' in the additions as HipCamp does not have the option to add extra tents at this time. The cost is $10 per tent. Any questions, just message me, we can work it out when you get here. (Note: Children do not count in the overall group total so no need to pay extra for them).
Check-in and check-out times: Are 3:00 pm and 10:00 am. Thank you for checking out promptly. We are booked back to back and it does take a few hours to clean the sites.
Is there an extra cost for animals or vehicles? There is a $20 pet fee for dogs ($20 per reservation, regardless of days or the number of pets). We love your dogs and encourage you to bring them, but it does create considerable extra work for us in order to make sure the next guest has a pet-free experience. You can add this fee in the 'add-on' section at check out.
How far are the swimming holes from the tent? About 1/4 mile walk.
How many people can the camp sleep? Two in the bed, and comfortably five more on the floor. There is plenty of room for additional tents.
Are large school groups permitted? For sure! We have hosted up to 50! Just message us for group ideas. We can even offer guided tours of the property and use of the climbing wall.
How do I store food? In your car only.
Do I need to worry about bears in the Wild Rose Camp? You should always be cautious of bears, and do not invite them by leaving food outside of your vehicle. We have never had a violent incident with a bear, but they may take advantage of trash or food left outside.
Any other questions or concerns we are just a message away! Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hosting you this summer.

Perfect nature break!
A gorgeous camp with welcoming and hospitable hosts. Even with the colder nights, we were comfortable in the tent with some extra blankets and enjoyed the evening under the stars with the propane fire pit. We’d love to come back in warmer weather and enjoy more of the property, but we had the perfect nature break. We actually had family in both the wolf creek and wild rose sites and would stay in either again!
The Wild Rose- site #1 is very neat and clean and it has a homey atmosphere. The tent has more than enough space for me and my 2 friends. Bed is comfortable as well as the sofa. Everything inside the tent is coordinated, The covered outdoor dining area is perfect place to hang out while preparing food. they also provide grill, and gas fire pit. There is a hot shower as well. Each site has designated "porta potty", so we did not have to share it others.
My friends and I enjoyed our stay, even though we only stayed one night instead of 2, it was a short and sweet get away. and we were very relaxed and recharged. We stayed up late waited for the stars to come out however due to poor air quality because of new fire from nearby area, we were only able to see the moon.
Josie (owner) is very nice, she made sure we have everything we need. She responds to inquiry right away. she updated me about the fire situation in the area.
We have plans of coming back and try the other sites. We highly recommended wild plumas to our other friends and they love the pictures we took and posted in facebook.
Thank you Josie for being so accommodating and for making sure we have what we needed. .
We loved staying at the wild Rose Bell campsite!! It was very peaceful and relaxing. The tent was very spacious and the outdoor kitchen was on point for cooking. My nephews had a blast with the zip line, hammock and swing. So if you have kid they will love it too! The water hole at this site was a little low but the host Eric invited us to explore the rest of the sites and property, we hit one of the other water hole which had more water and where our nephews and my husband had a blast. The property is gorgeous and nice kept trails. The outhouse is very well kept. The outdoor shower tho, is like nothing we have ever experienced. Private and relaxing (did i mention it has hot water like...whaaat!) My husband and I loved the outdoor shower. The owner Josie email us local waterholes and lakes near by. Sadly we didn't get to visit them all. But we sure took advantage of having Lassen National Park close by and head there to explore. Very beautiful! On our way up (to the campsite) we sure notice a fire going on. Mary kay (host) went to the site and updated us on the (fire) situation going on. We appreciated that updated. If you are ever glamping (like my husband calls it) at the Wild Rose Bell don't forget to look up at the sky at night and you'll be mesmerized at the beautiful sky that the night offers. We loved it! Overall staying at the Wild Rose Bell was wonderful, we truly recommended! Thanks for having us!

P.S. take bug repellent specially for mosquitoes they hit hard towards the night!

WOW, wow, wow!!! What a GREAT property; perfect for more than the 4 of us that's for sure.
The site was HUGE, plenty of space to camp, run, walk, rest, sleep, bike, etc. Loved the landscape, the creek and the camp hosts were very kind and sincere. The property was well maintained, the shower was amazing and the portas were clean. LOVED the covered table area: super useful and it provided shade for our morning coffee chit chat before we headed out everyday. IT was HOT but the water areas we went to were perfect.
MaryKay and Eric are the best. They checked in on us and were polite and sincere. Josie checked in on us and was quick to respond to our text message. We felt very safe, taken care of by our hosts and surrounded by beautiful forest.
We ventured out to Lake Almanor and was able to drive right up to the lakeside. There is a little dirt road just as you drive into the main road to get to the boat launch. Look for it; it's on the left, just drive it, across a bike path and you'll be on the lake shore. SOOOO amazing, warm and secure. The water was perfect.
We ventured to Indian waterfall area; it was great until the junior mint crew started taking over at 3pm. My advice: go there on a weekday from 10-3 then get out quickly since school is out and the munchkin crew will pack the area. Go to the left over a large rock and there is a small little semi-private beach right on the water. That's where we landed and spent some time there.
Lots of fun for kids!
We had such a great time staying at the Wild Rose bell tent site! We are a family of 5, and this site and tent fit us comfortably - enough room for a pack n play. The covered bench/kitchen area was a nice touch, and the propane fire pit was perfect for smores. Lots of room for our young kids to run around. This was our first 'camping' experience with kids and this was the perfect set up to ease them in. The outdoor shower was refreshing and the outhouses were not bad at all (best outhouse experience I've had actually). We took lots of trips to the creek for the kids to explore and throw rocks, swam in the swimming hole, and played in the treehouse. A short 5 min drive from the site takes you to food, gas, grocery (which was perfect because we forgot diapers - doh!). Don't forget your bug spray, lots of mosquitoes at all times of the day.
Such a great place
One of my top camping experiences ever! Great site, so isolated— it was like we were the only people there. The creek was running really low, but we still found a couple of swimming holes. The camp hosts have so many thoughtful touches: the port-a-potties are spotless, drinking water provided at your site, great activities for the kids, plus so much more. We had an amazing time and can’t wait to go back.
Great getaway with kids
What a fun glamping spot. Thank you to the owners and camp hosts for all the little details to make our stay so nice, from the little cart near the parking area to more easily shuttle gear back and forth, to the spotless and private porta potty, to the games in the tent for the kids. Our three loved the treehouse and zip line, and we’re going to have to buy one of those Swurfer swings for our own backyard now because they just wouldn't get off it. Would definitely recommend the place to family and friends, and we hope to stay again in the future. Thank you!
