Walden Ranch Camping

Wonderful place to camp. The host greeted us kindly and there was plenty of space to choose our desired spot. We fed the animals by hand in the morning. The mysterious bird noise, I think, is a peacock.

All I can do is agree with the 375+ positive reviews....this is wonderful place to camp with young kids. Alan has created such a beautiful and large shady oasis. Our family had a great and relaxing time.

What a wonderful and special place. Thank you, Alan, for opening up your beautiful ranch and letting campers stay. Being from LA, my daughter doesn’t get the opportunity to experience the countryside. It was just myself and my daughter and we felt completely safe and secure. We can’t wait to return.

Walden Ranch was a fantastic camping spot! Close enough to the city but still tucked away and remote makes it the perfect spot for a weekend get away. The site is large and shaded. There are canoes to get out in the pond, a communal fire pit, and some picturesque walks out on the farm land to two other ponds. Plum, apricot, and citrus trees around the garage. Chickens, a turkey, peacocks, and rabbits roam the property, and llamas, horses, and cows can be spotted in their pastures. Alan was extremely welcoming and kind and invited us on a hay ride at night to feed the cows. We had an excellent time and would gladly recommend Walden Ranch.

This is the perfect camping spot, especially if you have kids. Beautiful shaded grove campsite with picnic tables, tons of additional eating and BBQ area by the fire pit communal area. At night string lights light the campground and lead to the fire pit. Bathrooms are clean and have an attached outdoor cold shower.

The grounds are full of fun and friendly animals (llamas, cows, horses, bunnies, dogs, peacocks, chickens, and a very friendly turkey.)

Will definitely be returning. Alan and crew were all super friendly and accommodating and it was just a great time for both me and my son.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and 4 days. This is an amazing place to stay, it's close by to Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Sacramento, and San Francisco. When arriving, you have the entire place to yourself and the host is respectful of personal space. On our first night, there was one other family, that we hardly noticed was there.

Along with the privacy, there are nice amenities such as a clean bathroom, shower, sink, outdoor kitchen, plenty of seating and lights for the nighttime. If you like fishing or going out on the lake, the camp provides boats and life jackets.

We loved hanging out with all of the animals and our friend the turkey! He's super friendly and even allowed us to pet him! There are several adorable dogs that are friendly. Along with that, peacocks, chickens, cows, geese, bunnies, horses and more!

Overall, it was a fantastic trip and we will definitely be back! We greatly appreciated how easy it was to find the hipcamp area and reflective signs. Highly recommend!
