Friendly olive ranch glamping
What a cool ( hot!) place! We had a lovely mother daughter camping weekend under the walnut tree. Walked across a mesa like meadow past the caboose ,also rentable , to the flush toilets and shower, washed dishes in the outdoor kitchen sink, had a cold drink from the little fridge, scrambled up Jody’s fresh eggs in the morning, got awesome regular check ins from Val the seasoned camp host on her golf cart with her parade of dog characters and her amazing stories of travels, tribulations and truisms delivered with a whimsical good cheer. Visited the Blue lakes (found some places to pull off and scramble down the banks), and visited the Highland Springs reservoir to kayak , float and listen to the cacophony of country, classic rock, electronica and texmex music of fellow picknickers. Incredible expanse of stars in the night sky and apparently Elon’s satellites swoop by. What a great idea to share this lovely olive ranch with friendly campers, thank you!
Val is so wonderful and generous. She gave clear directions on how to get there. My boyfriend and I got to the site in the evening and it was very dark but Val came to save us and talked us through where the bathroom was, she provided some veggies and eggs for us, there was a telescope for us see the stars. She has a beautiful place. We would definitely come back again.
Had an amazing stay at Val’s site! Beautiful canyon with plenty of shade and water. Would love to come back and stay in the caboose someday! Aside from a great night of camping, Val herself was such a wonderful and kind host. After getting our window broken at a lake, Val was so helpful in helping patch it up. The stars are beautiful here and canyon made us feel like we were in our own private observatory. Hoping to come back someday. Thanks again, Val!
Val's campsite is lovely, and Val herself is a *gem* of a host.
She puts a lot of love and respect into the land and campsite and it shows. The site itself was well cared for, peaceful, quiet, w/ a beautiful sky full of stars overhead. The property has two other sites, well spaced out, and we had all the privacy and space we needed. And the bathroom and showers were impeccably clean.
Val herself was so generous and helpful. She made sure we arrived safely and got situated (well after dark) and greeted us w/ fresh eggs and cold drinks that she'd stocked for us in the fridge. She offered great recommendations for the area and we really enjoyed chatting with her about her extraordinary life.
We'd absolutely return. Highly recommended all around!
We had a wonderful stay at val's site! It was easy to find, comfortable, well organized, and beautiful! It was hot in the morning, but the shade from the walnut tree was perfect, and val even set us up with a sprinkler for our kid. Thanks so much, val!
Special place to stay!
Val was a wonderful host! Her caboose is perfectly appointed. The property is gorgeous and we really enjoyed our stay. The caboose is in a field and there are two other campsites available within view, but far enough away that if your fellow campers aren’t playing music or talking loudly, you won’t know they’re there.
AMAZING. A warm shower!!! A working bathroom!!!! Beautiful views!!! Val was so welcoming and gifted me some of the best eggs I’ve ever eaten. I woke up and told myself not to leave the eggs but darn it I left the eggs in the fridge. The fridge Val stocked with cold drinks! The generosity was beautiful. Thank you.
A quiet little paradise
What a wonderful stay - we pulled off the highway tired after a long day. Directions were great, site is private and quiet. Hosts very welcoming, generous and fun. We slept well, enjoyed the shower and toilet, towels etc. Bird life and walnut trees and that Northern California mediterranean climate and flora all surrounded us. Perfect for what we were looking for.
Had a really nice time here. Stars were bright, air was clean, night was quiet. Our hosts made our stay special. Great conversation, great suggestions for what to do in the area, very warm & personable. Hope to stay here again in the future. This was my first experience w/Hipcamp. Not sure how much better it could have gone. Good times.
