Site #4 offers the most privacy out of all our camp sites. It is on the 'uphill' side of the historic railroad bed, making it separate from the rest of the campsites. It is also out of sight from the road, making it more quiet and private.

To get to #4, once you pull in the entrance gate to the campground, you will drive towards where the outhouse is- and to the right

Site #4 offers the most privacy out of all our camp sites. It is on the 'uphill' side of the historic railroad bed, making it separate from the rest of the campsites. It is also out of sight from the road, making it more quiet and private.

To get to #4, once you pull in the entrance gate to the campground, you will drive towards where the outhouse is- and to the right of it is a short dirt driveway that goes up and over the railroad bed. There is a large eucalyptus tree with an arrow directing you which way to go. This same tree has a HEIGHT LIMITING giant branch going over the road. Most vehicles fit under it, and a short Airstream trailer has been pulled under it. Some of the taller camper vans may not fit under this Branch. (the Sprinter types with anything on the roof might be cutting it very close).

**When you book this site, Hipcamp will tell you that you booked site#1 of "The Grove Site #4". (As it is, this site and site #5, are their own listings due to Hipcamps' data management, so they then also number them the first sites of those listings. It has proven confusing) Rest assured, you have booked SITE #4 of The Grove.

We hope you enjoy your stay!

Lovely property, and especially this site which is hidden from the others, further from the road, and has a nice open view of hills and cow pastures. All the sites have a nice mix of shade and sun. At this time of year the ground was more of a mix of matted grass and dirt than the even, brown grass shown in the photo. The outhouse is very tidy and functional. The road is nearby, but on the weeknights we were there there were only occasional cars and virtually none at night, so it was very quiet. Lots of cute towns and good restaurants nearby if you don't want to cook! The property is well organized, and Anna and her family were super-helpful and responsive!

I’ve stayed here twice now and I really have enjoyed each time. Site 4 is definitely the most private and I loved it. It does have a height restriction due to a tree and it can be a little hard to see where the little road is especially when coming back down, but it is totally doable in sedans (I’ve seen Tesla’s enter and exit from there). I hope to stay there again sometime.

Arrived 9/7 2:00 pm at site 4, left after 15-20 mins. Wind was blowing 15-20 mph, per weather report. Site is not flat (as photos suggest), ground and vegetation were dry, dead and dusty; sites 1-4 are on downslope, #3 is best. Returned from beach at 4:45 pm, after breathing clean fresh air and feeling uncongested, and visited site 4 again. Felt congested within 15-20 mins., so I didn't stay. All sites could be improved with leveled set areas (say, 8x8 to 12x12). Website needs to describe the Grove and sites 1, 2, and 4 are essentially on a downslope (or aren't level).

Site 4 is the most private one, up over the little hill. It was nice to tuck in under the willow trees. You’re surrounded by animal noises, domestic and wild. We heard a red fox barking in the morning and we’re able to spot it running along the hill in the distance. Be prepared for cow sounds in the night and for the fog to get heavy enough to sprinkle (ear plugs and rain fly).

Site #4 is great! Great to have the tree as a home base along the giant fields and rolling hills. When we first arrived we weren’t sure what to expect but then our camp host Boots (a very friendly grey cat) came to greet us! Loved seeing pigs and sheep right from camp- and as others noted the bathroom was super clean. Didn’t get to explore the area much since we were passing through but will hopefully be back.

We had a perfect stay at The Grove-Site #4. It was so peaceful and secluded. The directions for getting there were super clear. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly, 4-legged feline camp host, who took time out of his busy schedule of patrolling the property to say hello to us. In the morning we awoke to the sounds of woodpeckers, birdsong and distance bleating of sheep and roosters crowing. The biggest surprise was the discovery of the most beautiful (and clean and well organized) outhouse I have ever seen. Thank you Anna for going the extra mile to make it so special!

The most beautiful outhouse ever! Our very private campsite. Our wonderful camp hostWe had the whole field to ourselves!

Site 4 is the best. Secluded from the others. Well kept up. Toilet facilities were clean and “cute”. You can tell they took care in creating the space.

Anna was great and very accommodating. We were also greeted by an uncommonly friendly barn cat.

We would return.
