Great glamping, little privacy
All in all - good spot for our 1 night camping trip with friends. We enjoyed the firepit and cute lights across the compound. However there is not much privacy as you are very much in the company of other guests and the price is a little high for what amenities they promise (room service, bathroom running out of supplies). I feel like it's a good spot to come if you want more of a glamp experience with provided water, toilets, shade, chairs, firepit. But if you want to feel very secluded this is not the space for you.
We opted for a regular campsite which came with a private overhang structure great for shade, 2 chairs, and fire pits. There are subtle ground lights everywhere at night which really gives a nice feel to the place, and makes the place feel really elevated. We could go straight to the campground w/o checkin, and directions were easy to access.
Our campsite was directly facing a yurt's entrance, so that was awkward with the spacing - we felt like they could hear everything we were saying. Not great privacy in that aspect, but also this is a place where a lot of big groups come so we didn't feel ALL that bad :)
The compound is small, so if you were wanting to venture around the campground, there's not a lot of space to go... you have to leave the gated area but you are right next to the road, so does not feel secluded enough like you are in a true desert escape. Cool to see the tiny homes though and the event space looks lovely!
"room service" sounded ideal, but we never got any response when we texted our host for firewood or coffee in the morning... so I would just not rely on getting room service items. bring everything you need!
Bathrooms were great - portable trailer style, but there are only 2 toilets for the whole campground, and they didn't come to clean it or replenish TP / paper towels during our time there. For the price you pay you'd think...
Lastly, there are DESERT MICE!! Just to note if you are sleeping on the ground like we were (no worries if you're in a tent, just make sure you zip up!) They're kinda cute, not like city mice, but beware. Gated compound was great because my dog had a blast chasing them all night. Totally harmless but thought I should mention that as it took me by surprise!
Lastly.. they say there is potable water. I'm sure there is. But you have to go find it lol. There are some spigots in the ground (not close to your campsite) and I had to get it from a hose that was servicing the pool hahah... just bring your own water!!
Desert camping oasis
Enjoyed my 1 night stay a ton and can’t wait to return! I camped at site #2 with my dog and found it to be the perfect place to stay from Joshua Tree National Park. The outdoor shower and property is wonderful and is such a beautiful oasis.
Super cute and very Instagram worthy. We stayed at camp site 2, which was the farthest site from the bathroom. We didn’t really have access to the pool or sauna, which was a bummer, but we didn’t stay around the site during the daytime much. It is very quiet and the sound carries so you will hear your neighbors staying in the yurts or other campsites. There was also music playing all night from somewhere I’m assuming was outside the property. It would’ve been nice for there to be another bathroom closer to us and/or for the bathrooms to be kept up with a bit more since there were a lot of people staying on the property at the same time and toilet paper ran out a few times. No area to dump your trash, need to pack it out. Water from the hose definitely tastes like the hose. Hosts were responsive once alerted of things that needed to be attended to.
We had a lovely stay at Castle House. Very quiet and peaceful location, and we especially loved the beautiful stars and subtle lighting at night. Ryan could not have been more accommodating. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Very cool vibe
What a great place! Came here to camp while doing the Modernism Fall Preview in nearby Palm Springs. We stayed for 3 nights in our RV at one of the Pergola sites. Ample room to park on a very level spot. The pergola was a win all around as it extended our outdoor living with additional shade and a framed view onto the yurt site and mountain scape beyond. Fellow campers had plenty of space to stretch out relax. Plenty of laughter and good times to be heard around camp fires in the evening - but so very quiet at night. Good vibes here. The palm trees, eclectic mix of structures, and pool make this place truly unique and memorable.
Beautiful and welcoming!
It was my first time visiting this place with my girlfriend and we enjoyed the whole weekend here at this wonderful campground. Ryan is very welcoming and made us feel at home. I can’t wait to come back and enjoy another weekend here. Great job Ryan!
