Great view—right on the water
Some may prefer a more forested or secluded campsite—the ones we were in were just spots in a dirt parking lot—but the view was amazing! Loved watching the sunset over the water and walking around on the rocky beach and looking for sea glass.
Stay for the view and sauna/swim
Stayed here for one night on the SF side and the view was really nice. The site was pretty leveled so we didn’t need to unhitch our travel trailer which was really convenient. The sites were quite large with plenty of space to spread out what seemed like an open parking lot. This time of year afforded us pleasant weather but for warmer weather, would recommend folks to pack a a pop up shade with weights as it’s all open compacted land, no shade/trees and strong metal stakes. There seems to be a little side business of a sauna and swim package where groups of people rented time slots to wade/swim in the bay and then pop into the sauna to warm back up.
Beautiful ocean view
Beautiful Ocean view on either side. I stayed on weekday. Host was welcoming. It is an industrial site but there are options to hike and explore the area.
This is a really different and fantastic place. We only stayed one night but enjoyed the entire experience! The camping area is flat and doesn’t provide any shade or privacy. This wasn’t an issue for us as we had the place to ourselves. There are sauna rentals next to the sites that could be fun. I especially enjoyed combing the rocky shore for the plentiful sea glass. The SF view was beautiful and we explored the area on our bikes to take in all the views. The restaurant on the other side was delicious and an eclectic experience with a live band. Despite being a BBQ they serve a vegetarian sampler. The art sculptures around the restaurant were very cool. Overall it was a excellent experience.
