Welcome to the Rangeland!

We are a short drive in from Pozo Road, where you will find yourself nestled under an oak amongst the season's vegetation. Abundant wildlife in the camp area with pigs, coyote and Tule elk residing in the mountains on the property. Seasonal birds, wildflowers and cattle grazing.

Hike, bike or just relax on the property and enjoy the star gazing that comes without the city lights. It's just a few minute down the road to the Los Padres National Forrest but at least 45 minutes to the closest town.

If you bring your dirt bikes or ATVs you'll need to enjoy them only while on the forest property. We enjoy our wildlife and work to protect it with rotational cattle grazing. The property has been in the family since 1881; remnants of past farming and livestock operations are ever present.

We look forward to your visit!

We absolutely loved staying at Susan's place. She accommodated us very last minute, which was super helpful during our first van trip :)
We arrived at 1881 Rangeland Camping by night and had no problem with finding our camping area. Our dogs adored the land, we found some cool bones (coyote maybe?) they played with. Complete silence surrounded by beautiful land :)
Saved on our favorite Hipcamps list - we will definitely be back!

We loved every minute of our stay at Rangeland. As we drove in we felt the magic of the 140 year heritage of the ranch. Deer and beautiful oaks greeted us, and when the sun set and the night descended the Milky Way opened up like we’ve never seen before. She made us feel tiny and vulnerable, and incredibly lucky to be where we were that night. Thank you Susan for giving us a glimpse of your world.

The (somewhat long) drivers this site was certainly worth it! The property is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay very much. My daughter had asked for “wilderness camping” and the site did not disappoint. The stars were great and we had several deer walk right past our tent.

It was a very spacious camp ground with good area for tents and hanging out. Weather was very hot (to be expected out in Pozo). Host was very friendly and helpful. Campground was kind of hard to find, the sign was a little small. Overall we had a great time camping there!

This campsite is a little bit off the beaten path, but well worth it. This property has been owned by the same family since 1881. The host, Susan, who is such a sweet lady, greeted us when we arrived and helped us pick out the best campsite. She also gave us a tour of the property while we were there. It was fascinating to hear about the history of the land and daily ranch life.

The sites here are best suited for trailers and RVs as there are no bathrooms here. The land is so peaceful out here, definitely a nice respite if you live in a busy area. I recommend this spot if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway or curious about ranch life.

The warmest glow in the morning. Enjoying the peaceful early morning hours. Brought our own homemade iced tea.The stars are SO bright out here.

We had an amazing time at this site during the day and under the stars at night. This is a hidden gem and are so grateful that we got to spend a quiet evening in such a beautiful setting. The site offers ample space in a quiet and private setting. Would highly recommend staying here and visiting some of surrounding attractions (wine tasting, hiking, etc).

Loved this private camp!
We stayed at site #4 tucked up against a hillside with deer, bunnies, and so many birds! It was incredibly quiet and peaceful- I highly recommend Susan’s property. Spends at least two nights!!
