Love the cabin, the fireplace and the quiet nights. We set up chairs at the balcony and just watched the pond, soaking in the nature 😀. The trails around the camp site was beautiful and convenient. My daughter loved the wooden bridges across the pond and river.

One minor concern was that we got a bit worried after driving on the gravel road for so long. There was no wording or instructions that it will be miles of driving past the entry to Woodlands. Mainly we got worried that our sedan can’t take such long gravel road.

Staying at the Mendocino Woodlands was like coming home again. It was the very first place I ever lived and worked in California. It hasn’t changed much in 25 years. I love the rustic cabins and was lucky enough to stay in one overlooking the pond. It was peaceful and quiet except for the occasional croaking of a bullfrog, a welcome neighbor. The park and facilities were well-maintained and clean. The camp hostess was warm and inviting. The hikes were amazing and be sure to bring everything you need because you won’t want to leave this magical place. The only thing I forgot to bring was a bug spray. I feel very fortunate and blessed to have visited this special place.

We had such a wonderful stay. The grounds look amazing and it's clear the Woodlands staff have been busy the last year and a half making this beautiful spot look somehow more incredible. We enjoyed having so much space to ourselves and seeing all activity among the flora and fauna, who are usually a bit more in hiding when we're there with larger groups. I appreciate them making this more intimate experience possible. Book your stay! You'll be so happy you did!

Our stay was very nice! The historic cabins are beautiful and rustic. The people running it are friendly and helpful, and the grounds and surrounding area are pristine and spectacular. I hope they can continue to rent through hipcamp to smaller groups, it was a nice opportunity for us. One of the tiny silver linings of covid.

Historic rustic cabins, beautiful forests, trails, bicycling and hiking trails. Hosts are exceptional and very helpful. Highly recommended. Impeccably maintained shower/bathroom facilities. Dramatic stone fireplaces in each cabin are truly phenomenal for nighttime fire gazing. This is not “glamping”, bring everything you need. Barebones cabins and 4 single cots per cabin. It’s camping, but really GREAT and truly memorable.
