Rustic cabin getaway
The Mendocino Woodlands staff sent me a welcome email prior to the trip with information on the gravel road leading to the camp, the hours for check-in, helpful tips and camp rules. I am glad I got there with a few hours of daylight to spare. It is magical down there in the redwoods, but it does get dark early! There are a few signs along the gravel road to reassure that you are going in the correct direction. I thought I would see a sign that read "you should have bought a squirrel." Haha! But seriously keep an eye out for the hand-painted signs as they do help. The cabins are cute! Exactly what you'd expect from the description. The balcony is nice place to sit, relax and watch wildlife. As other reviewers have noted, there are large windows on three sides of the cabin. Your fellow campers can't really see inside (unless you are using a bright lantern in the cabin), and the windows are good for watching the trees around you, so I was grateful for the view. The fireplace is awesome! The staff give you a bundle of firewood when you check in. The amount I received was perfect for two nights; the cabin did get a little chilly at night/early morning. The shower house has nice hot water, and occupancy was low enough that I had no issue having the shower house to myself. The utility room was great for washing up dishes too. Trails around the camp were well maintained and easy to follow. The woodlands are beautiful and serene. Well worth the trip down the bumpy gravel road. I can't wait to go back!
A dreamy woodland escape
Come to the Mendocino Woodlands if you're looking to escape city life and need a breath of fresh air. This is a magical place nestled inside the forest where peace abounds. The facilities are well taken care of and the cabins are cozy and quaint. The light that dapples through your windowpanes is dreamy and utterly relaxing. Build a fire in your stone fireplace and cozy up at night to firelight, warmth, and wonder. Wander the wooded trails by day and tip toe through ferns and redwood duff. Stumble upon the swimming hole and delight in searching for frogs and heart-shaped rocks. You will leave this place feeling rested, nurtured, and whole.
Relaxing stay in magical redwoods
We had the best time during our stay at Cabin 3 in the Mendocino Woodlands, The cabin was so charming with its large windows, cozy fireplace and lovely deck to enjoy morning coffee or afternoon tea and a good book. The restrooms were very clean and the utility room made food clean up a breeze. The picnic table was conveniently located for meal prep. The trails were amazing - we took a different hike everyday, and relaxed by one of the swimming holes each afternoon. I highly recommend the Mendocino Woodlands for a relaxing, restful getaway in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Great communication before our scheduled date and upon arrival! The staff was super friendly and so helpful with all of our questions! The cabin was perfect! Fireplace to keep us warm on a chilly night and having 2 of the cots scooted together already was helpful for us. The cot mattresses were comfy enough. The restroom and showers were very clean and kept up well. We enjoyed being able to hike straight from the cabin to many of the beautiful trails in the park! Highly recommend staying here to unplug and reset! Bring your bug stuff though! Oh and we saw a barred owl on one of our hikes!
Will be back soon!
