Although it is secluded, Portals is in close proximity to porta potties, a hot outdoor shower, and our communal outdoor kitchen area.

Currently reservation requests for this campsite are set for up to 6 campers, but can accommodate 14 people total. When booking the site for more than 6 guests please edit your request to reflect accurate headcount information in advance of your arrival. Additional campers are $30 per adult nightly.

SMOKE ONLY IN DESIGNATED AREAS

$5 for every cigarette butt picked up after private events & campouts

There will be no personal campfires allowed at Mendocino Magic for the 2021 season. Campers wishing to have a campfire are invited to join us at the communal propane fire disk (by the Central Camper's Kitchen) where it is safest. We do allow personal propane stoves for cooking (not propane firepits), which we have available to rent at the Front Porch. We hate having to take campfires out of the camping experience, but fire season is a scary time of year for everyone, and we all must do our part to ensure the safety of our community. During a fire ban, please do not start a fire at any camp's fire ring - guests who do so will be asked to leave without a refund.

Somewhat secluded camp above an empty pond a short distance from the main areas. A bit pricey for camping with the shared amenities (porta potties, sinks and showers) in need of some updating, replacing, cleaning.

I would come back and knowing they are actively improving the land to make future stays nicer.

Mackenzie and her team are the best hosts! From the moment you reach the front gate, your entire stay is supported through necessary information and thoughtful care. First timers? No worries, she'll tell you all about fire safety, land use and check in on you from time to time, Seasoned veterans? You got all the peace and seclusion your want. We have gone twice already this summer and will go back for another go in September. It's the perfect easy camping getaway.

This is a beautiful property, the site was well maintained, and I so enjoyed swimming in the reservoir. Unfortunately, certain guests were so obnoxious and loud at night that I didn’t sleep well which ruined it for me. I’m talking blasting robot orgy sex techno until 3 AM. Ear plugs couldn’t fight it. There’s no point in having quiet hour rules if the host doesn’t enforce them. I’ve been to private campgrounds where hosts take that seriously, and this isn’t one of them.

Fun camping spot. The land is well taken care of, and those who camp here seem to respect that.

Our site was secluded w/ access to water and porta-potties. We were respectful and followed the rules, so the host left us alone/didn't bother us - which is all you can ask for.

Lake is swell too!

The Portals campsite was just as pretty as the pictures. We had a great time walking around the vast property and swimming and kayaking on the reservoir-which was warm even in mid-October! The communal kitchen was an added bonus!

Super cool property! Portals Stage was a great place for our group of 10, with 5 tents total- but I wouldn't recommend any more than that and even that was a bit tight. There are only (2) places to put tents in the shade. We were surprised to find a large Shelter Co. tent on the site with an air mattress inside. These seem to be on every site, maybe it's a new thing. It would have been good to know ahead of time but it also took up a really good spot for one of our tents! The only negative comment I have is for the port-o-potties. They were REALLY full, dirty, and filled with flys. We tried to find some on the property that weren't full or dirty but could not. Other than that we give the place 5 stars! Portals was great for us because it was secluded from other sites. Thanks Mendo Magic!

Actual campsite was great! Just as expected from the ad. And the reservoir with free kayaking was incredible. Also, Mackenzie was a very attentive host. I just have three suggestions for improvement at this site.

1) The location of the closest water source was not very clear. Most of our time there, we walked sort of far away. Then basically before we left, I discovered a closer water source. Would be great for this to be more clearly labeled.
2) The permanent residents on the property don’t keep their property up very well. Lot of junk on their lawns - walking past those areas kind of deflated some of the outdoor camping magic.
3) There was a large group across the property who was playing loud music all the way up to 10PM and it started again around 9AM. When I’m camping (even glamping) I don’t like to hear other people’s music constantly like I’m at a park in the city. So I think some restrictions around playing music at camp sites would be beneficial.
