The campsite is along a mile-loop of the Holland Reservoir and other campers may hike along through here but for the most part its a secluded destination. There is a lovely little beach right next to Lakeside Camp for reservoir access!

There will be no personal campfires allowed at Mendocino Magic for the 2021 season. Campers wishing to have a campfire are invited to join us at the communal propane fire disk (by the Central Camper's Kitchen) where it is safest. We do allow personal propane stoves for cooking (not propane firepits), which we have available to rent at the Front Porch. We hate having to take campfires out of the camping experience, but fire season is a scary time of year for everyone, and we all must do our part to ensure the safety of our community. During a fire ban, please do not start a fire at any camp's fire ring - guests who do so will be asked to leave without a refund.

If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We stayed in “Lakeside” campsite right by the side of the lake. The lake is beautiful and a good size - very natural and full of wildlife - fish, turtles, etc. We were lucky to have the entire lake to ourselves for three days which was very special - we felt completely out in the wild. Very peaceful. It was August - so pretty hot - but there is a lovely spot just a few yards from the campsite - by the lake which is shaded and cool. They provide kayaks. There is a log to jump and dive off - and there are some other rocks to jump off as well. We swam the entire lake one afternoon which was quite an adventure. The water was warm - enough to stay in for a long time. Bring rings, paddleboard, etc. Mackensie and team are very responsive to questions - they brought ice each day which was amazing. There is weak cellphone reception - which for us was a bonus. There is five feet of “seaweed” around the edge of the lake - that you have to swim through at the start and end of each swim and the lake side is a little muddy vs sandy or stony - but nothing that dampened the enjoyment. I would definitely come back.
Best two days with kids and dog
I almost don't want to share how sweet and perfect this spot is and keep it to myself!
A short and pleasant drive up from Sonoma County, a quiet lake on a hot day, a night sky FULL of stars. This place was super relaxing and fun!
The campsite was immaculate and cozy. We were lucky to have a shady spot along the bank of the lake and woke up to see dragonflies, trout, bluegills, and a river otter. The kids and I used the canoe and kayaks, boating around the lake at our leisure; and the dog was happily off-leash the entire time!
There were a few interesting art sculptures on the hill that inspired a little adventure walk through the grass and gave a good view of the property below.
If you need a little time to just shout off your phone and be alone - this is your spot!
Magic, peaceful, serene
Like the name, absolutely magic.
We stayed at the Lakeside Camp. Mackenzie was super friendly and helpful. She met us at the front gate and drove us down to the campsite.
The site itself was perfect. Tents set up on the banks of the lake, and a communal area a few feet away. The property is beautiful, plenty of activities. Highly recommended!
Twas a magical oasis indeed
The name says it all! Truly an oasis getting away from the craziness of the world. Mackenzie was so helpful and welcoming - she had pretty much any extra thing we may have needed camping, like ice and coolers, water dispensers, a BBQ, showers, canoes, rides to your campsite if your car doesn't quite clear some of the road...it was legit. Great vibes all around. Even the other people camping on the property were friendly and chill, but you totally had your personal secluded space - 10/10 will visit again!
Mackenzie was a sensational host. From the moment we arrived at camp she was pleasure to speak with and was super helpful getting our group situated at our lake site. The property was phenomenal and I'll certainly look forward to my next visit with magic ♥️
Perfect getaway with privacy
My family of four with 2 boys and 2 dogs had a great experience camping at the Lakeside. We feel very safe and we have so much privacy. McKenzie, the host is very accomodating with our questions and showed us the direct access to the lake. We had a great time hiking, kayaking and swimming all day long with cannonballs jump here and there. It was a perfect getaway from the city and we highly recommend this place! Would love to come back again.
