This site was originally create for the Roadtrek Camper Van group from Northern California.  It is now open to other groups with self-contained vehicles ONLY - RV's, trailers, fifth-wheels & class A, B & C motor homes.  (This is NOT for tent campers.  Please view our other Madrone Tree Hill site on Hipcamp to book a tent campsite.)

Camp under the stars in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. This 50 acre family-owned property is located in the heart of Apple Hill. There are two streams that run through it, with a hill that separates them. It is a working Christmas Trees farm that was started in the 1960's and now has many trees that are too big to fit in anyone's home, but provide an unbelievable canopy for some of our camp sites. About 1/3 of it is covered in a pine forest (with secluded camp sites) with the balance being Christmas trees, manzanita brush, Madrone trees, and open areas (for larger group campers). There are trails throughout the property for visitors to enjoy. There is an Apple Farm across the street that makes the best donuts in Apple Hill! Less than a mile away is a farm brewery and there are wineries throughout the area. There is also a large lake nearby that is a favorite for local kayak and canoe enthusiasts (and some who enjoy fishing) since most non-locals don't know it exists.

This RV group site is located in the large clearing at the top of the hill.  It is near the individual sites, and relatively close to the restrooms and potable water station. However, NO AMENITIES are provided.  (Bring your own tables, chairs and fire pits.)  Portable restrooms are onsite for your use as is a spigot with potable water.

NOTE: All campfires must be in an enclosed fire pit.  (OPEN campfires are strictly prohibited during the summer/fall months.)  Fire pits may be rented for $10/night or please bring your own.

Be sure to bring flashlights and lanterns, it does get dark at night!

What a great place! We stayed at the top of the hill and had a nice campfire in a bowl that we rented. (Was not cheap though)

Nikolaus, thanks for visiting. Sorry, you were only able to spend one night and use the firepit only once. Enjoy your travels while on holiday here in the US!

Gordon, was very friendly and willing to help you with anything you need for your stay. Gordon helped us pull another family up th their camp after hours of check in. He was happy to help. I will stay at this location again.

Madrone Tree Hill was amazing. It wasn’t very busy, so it was pretty quiet. It is in the heart of Apple Hill. The location couldn’t be better. It is up a pretty steep hill that may require 4 wheel drive with a trailer behind. We have a 30 foot fifth wheel and got in and out with no problems. We will definitely be returning.

Booked the RV site. You can pretty much park anywhere. The slope is the biggest issue, but I was level enough to sleep comfortably. Gordon is a great host and provided plenty of firewood and a fire pit.

It’s right in the middle of Apple Hill. As I was staying on a Saturday, there were about 4 other RVs (mostly TTs) in the open space. People were very respectable and all was quiet by 10 pm.

Aerial view. 5 RVs total for a Saturday night and plenty of space for all. Madrone Tree Hill - RV HilltopCampsite iPhone 11 Pro Max: 9 second exposure photo. Best camera phone on the planet right now.

Great spot!

Gordon's clearly put thought and effort into setting up a nice spot for everyone. The area's beautiful and he's added some nice touches and handy amenities - plus he was very helpful and friendly.

Also, he provided a lot of local information which really made our trip!

One tip; make sure you bring your leveling system, if you're sleeping in a Campervan / RV.

What a gem! This may be the best Hip Camp I've seen yet. Well maintained and secluded yet right in the middle of Apple Hill's attractions.

Great spot under a large tree!

We had a great 3 days at Madrone Tree Hill! Gordon was a great host and went out of his way to ensure we were well taken care of. This is a very well maintained and cared for campground. We have a 30 foot 5th wheel and although where we parked was on quite a slope we were able to get it level. Many other campers were there but sites are far enough apart that you hardly know anybody else is there. We did have DoorDash deliver pizza, but that's not cheating right?
