Elderberry camp was really great! It was a large site, plenty of space, shade, and parking. Very peaceful and good distance between other sites although we were pretty much the only campers out there. Outhouse was clean and there was drinking water. We spent most of our Saturday in Eel River which was great. The water was perfect for swimming and fishing, our husbands caught some big ones. Stephen was very nice and accomodating, the honey and eggs we asked for were a nice addition too!

My group loved staying at Elderberry camp!

Stephen was super responsive, and did a great job making sure we had everything we needed (like firewood and local tips).

The location was great- new and clean pit toilet and running water at the campsite made things much easier for a large group of 17. We were the only group that weekend, so we really appreciated being able to play some music later than 8pm. The blackberries all around the campsite were a fantastic addition to our pancakes in the morning!

The weather in August is hit and dry, so unsurprisingly, the creek near the campsite was dry. Stephen had left a very nice note on how to get to the Eel River. We brought floaties and a cooler over to the river, and had two very nice afternoons there! The water was a perfect temperature and a bridge provided a lot of shade on the beach.

Seriously one of the coolest drive in campsites I have ever stayed in. Huge beautiful meadow with fresh water, an outhouse, picnic table, and fire pit. Glamping out in the woods at its finest. Stephen was easy to communicate with and couldn’t have been nicer!

Warning: host shuts off water without notice. Outhouse is a hole in the ground and you are expected to cover your “stuff” with dirt. Grass is knee high.

We apologize that the water had to be shut off for a short time while a broken valve was replaced. These problems can happen anytime and are unanticipated. The compost outhouse is new, clean and sanitary; unlike the state campgrounds which use chemical outhouses, we prefer the more natural & less environmentally damaging approach. ALL the grass in and around Elderberry has been cut short.

The site was a very nice size for a group with a lot of space to spread out and enjoy. We drove to the Eel River about 20 minutes down a dirt road and hung out on the river all weekend which was such a nice treat! The campsite host, Stephen, was very nice and accommodating. Watch out for poison oak around the campsite otherwise the site is great for a group!

So glad Bynyden & friends enjoyed our Nature retreat on the vast Tomki creek floodplain and that the nearby Eel river provides such a delightful respite from the dog days of Summer! We are working hard to eradicate the poison oak and do our best to make sure that the camp area proper is cleared of every bit before our guests arrive. Hope to see Brynden & friends again soon!
