Directions were very easy to follow and the location was amazing. The views of Mount Shasta and the surrounding area were fantastic. My wife and 2 month old daughter stayed there and would absolutely do it again next time we are down this way. We ran into Jacob on a morning walk and had a lovely chat- he is very gracious and lives close to the property should you need anything. Thank you Jacob- we had a great time!

My granddaughter and I really enjoyed this hide away. We were the only people there.
My only desire would have been to have had better directions. There's a Sunset Road in Mt. Shasta also. This camping spot is in Montague, it helps to know that. My GPS took me right there once I had the name of the town it is in.
Highly recommend camping there. Loved it!!

We paid for two nights, but only ended up staying one because of car trouble. Due to smoke from fires we weren't able to enjoy the view, the moon and sun were red and Mt. Shasta was an outline. Our neighbors at camp were up late and noisy, however since we got in late, (after setting up our tents early,) this was in a way a bonus, as we didn't have to worry about disturbing them. Owners weren't available the nights we booked so we didn't get to try Cambodian food. We would consider staying here again in the future, under different circumstances!

The host originally told us that a fire wasn’t close to our camp. Then on our way to the camp, we were about 7 miles away and saw the fire literally across the road. We didn’t feel safe driving closer so we contacted the host. He then said that he was evacuating with his family and it was a good idea for us not to go to the camp. Why couldn’t he have said something to us before we started to put ourselves into danger? Tried to get a refund several times with no answer from the host. This was our first time trying Hipcamp and if we don’t get a refund, we probably will never use again with this type of customer service. I’m unsure if they wanted us to just risk our lives and camp?

Ok here we go. The day of your reservation the fire wasn’t close to us. Actually it wasn’t until early afternoon that it started moving towards us. If you look up the Lava fire you will find that the forest service deemed this fire finished and left it only for it to mysteriously start again overnight. Also you must have been coming from the south as the fire was never “literally across the road”. When Chris and I talked first I said that it wasn’t a big deal and the fire wasn’t close. It wasn’t. Sometime early afternoon the winds picked up big and the fire exploded and headed north. Within a few hours it went from stagnant to crossing the 97 and ripping into the valley. They ordered an evacuation for where our house is a few miles closer to the fire than the campsites. Chris eventually thought I meant the land was being evacuated but he misunderstood. We literally packed up our house and went to the land where the campsites are for safety. During this time we were frantically filling our truck with our valuables and potentially leaving our house for the last time. I did message Chris during this time and said we were being evacuated and it wasn’t a good idea to stay that night. If I wasn’t running for our lives I would have messaged earlier but I feel I was still fairly quick given the circumstance. Then that night we felt it would be better to head to our cabin near Yreka which has no cell service. We stayed there for 3 nights and would come to town to see if our house had burned down. I responded to Hipcamp issues but it took a lower priority. Then as we were allowed to return home there was lots of catch-up to do. I was slow to respond to his messages but did respond. He never asked for a refund till well after the stay and had he waited for a day or two before leaving a negative review, I would have approved it. We did buy all the food for their dinner and get it all prepped before the fire got outta control. So we were trying to make it a good stay for chris but a natural disaster happened and that was outta our control. Next time I will stop packing as a wall of flames approaches so we can message chris 30 minutes sooner. No smoke now and the fire is all but out. Honestly a very unique time to see Mt Shasta.

We came to enjoy Mt Shasta, the NorCal heat, star-gaze, and eat Cambodian BBQ and Jacob and Ban’s hospitality exceeded our expectations. The vistas *are* epic, the outhouse isn’t terrible (make sure to bring TP), and the Cambodian BBQ was delicious, satisfying, and fun to eat. What a lovely camp night.

Wonderful place! Epic view of Mt. Shasta. The camping area was clear, flat, quiet, private. I really enjoyed the basic, rustic toilet. The propane bbq was great to use! Jacob is a really nice person and a perfect camping host.

Jacob and Bahn were fantastic hosts and provided an absolutely incredible Cambodian meal for me. The campsite is in perfect view of my Shasta and has a very clean outdoor toilet. A big BBQ is also on site for use.
