The price of camping includes any of the following Farm/Ranch experiences you (and any children) would like to do: joining us for feeding animals, collecting eggs, helping/watching milking the cow. Our property is great for children! We have a trampoline, a tree house, a large livestock water trough that we use as a kiddie pool in summer, a great swing set, and room to play.
Come camp in a very quiet and safe horse and farming area. Our property is 10 acres, much of it used as pastures for our 10 horses. We live near the end of a dead-end road. Some of our camping sites are have more shade and others have lots of sun. All sites have fresh well water hose spigots very close by. All sites also have 110v (15amp) power available with an extension cord. No septic at any sites. Sites #3-5 are all next to horse pastures. These sites will accomdate CamperVans, class-C motorhomes (under 24 feet long), towed RVs under 20 feet long, tent trailers, and tents!
Site Descriptions:
Site #3: This site is next to our horse barn, and is the most private site. There is shade in morning and afternoon.
Site #4: (Pasture) This site is between the horse arena and the round pen, next to a horse pasture. Full sun, with a little shade along the fence (enough to sit it). RVs allowed in Site #4 only from May through October, but tents are Ok anytime.
Site #5 (Pasture) This site is next to a horse pasture, and has a nice bench swing to relax on. Morning sun and afternoon shade.
➡️ Sites #1-2 (with 30amp power) are available thru our other HipCamp listings: "Hirst Horse Ranch RV sites."
➡️ Site #6 (Group site - up to 14 people) is available thru our other HipCamp listing: "Hirst Horse Ranch Group Site."
You'll be near our horses, our 2-3 dairy cows, chickens, 3 curious cats, and our 2 friendly dogs. You are welcome to look at the horses, or you can sign up for one of our special "experiences" to get to know the horses better, or take a short "Welding Art" or "Metal Forging" lesson in which you can make something simple from a used horseshoe.
A cute little shed-barn has a flush toilet and shower for your use (bring your own towel).
We are located about 12 minutes from the Galt area, which has a large variety of Fast-food, as well as several nice restaurants. There is also a Wal-Mart (with groceries) and a nice Supermarket. We are about 6 miles from 2 country stores in Herald and Wilton (with gas station & Mexican restaurant).
It's very quiet at night, and you can see LOTS of stars, especially when the moon isn't full.
Quiet dogs are allowed, but MUST be ON LEASH at all times. This is a working Horse Ranch, and there is lots of movement, so dogs that bark a lot should not come. We have 2 human-friendly dogs (a boxer and an Aussie) that will likely hang out with you, if you give them any attention. :-)
Our property is very green (lots of grass) in the winter and spring. When summer arrives, it is "golden", but there are lots of green trees and the main backyard is open and has green grass.
- Check in: After 12PM
- Check out: Before 11AM
- Cancellation policy: Moderate
- On arrival: Meet and greet
- Minimum nights: 1 night
- Accepts bookings: 3 months out

Justin, Chris and family are amazing host!
We had the absolute best time. Our 4 teenagers loved jumping on the trampoline, swinging on the swings and learned how to milk a cow!
We will definitely be back soon to take more horse riding lessons with Chris 💗
Best family camping experience!
How this place isn’t booked for months in advance is beyond me. Justin and his awesome family are literal GOALS as a host family! The animals are so gentle and hilarious! My 5 year old daughter was in heaven getting to sleep next to the pony! I can’t recommend this place enough, best family camping experience for all ages! We had 2 9 year olds that got to drive a tractor and we also got to paint a HORSE 🐎 The welding experience was super unique and it was a great bonding experience for our family♥️ HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!! Also, stay away from the local Walmart, our credit card information was stolen there.

I can’t say enough great things about this experience. This was a dream visit for my daughter who spent the summer reading about horses and taking a few lessons. We signed up for the Liberty excursion as well as the trail walk and enjoyed both. Feeding the animals, milking the cow, and hanging out with the little calf, Buttermilk, were also highlights. Our hosts were cheerful and natural teachers. The daily rhythms, patience, confidence on the ranch were a welcome respite from the noise/fear that seems to be our new social baseline. All of the other campers we met while staying were delightful. The children played together, parents chatted, a totally relaxed environment.

We went to Hirst Ranch camp for 1 night and it was such a wonderful experience for our family!! Justin and Christina are amazing! Our older 2 kids did the Liberty and lesson and younger 2 doing the pony rides. They had so much fun!
The kids learnt not only how to ride the horse but to learn how to communicate with the horses. It was a very unique and great experience for them.
In the morning, we were able to participate in milking the cow. We can’t wait to go back again!!!

Justin and Christina were great hosts and amazing with our 2 kids. The hands on experience with their friendly animals was truly memorable. I loved that they had a trampoline, tree house and swing to keep my kids entertained throughout the day. We will definitely visit again, but perhaps during the late spring when it won't be so hot.
Where should I start? The Hirst Family blew my mind away. From being the most amazing hosts (friendly, kind, happy and always engaging with the kids) to the amazing space and activities they have at their property. My kids LOVED the experience of riding a horse and driving a tractor! Our site (#5) was just perfect. We were close to the horses (a big deal for my little one) and yet secluded with a private swing. We LOVED it there and will come back!
Justin and Christina are a fantastic and very friendly couple. Their ranch is a beautiful and peaceful place to spend time. We have been there twice now. The ranch and their hospitality makes us want to go there again and again. Christina is an amazing trainer, and the horse lessons we took are super fun. Hirst Ranch is a place for all ages.
The main thing is that we are in love with all their animals - horses, cows, dogs, cats, chicken .... and their names. Mave, Solo, Seven, Pearl, Roxy, Chewy, Einstein. If you love animals, you should definitely go.
P.S: Since there are animals around, be prepared with a good load of insect repellent to deal with flies and bugs.

It was so nice just to sit in the hammock and listen to the peaceful sounds of the horses and the country. The experiences were so fun and it would be hard to find hosts as kind as the Hirst family. It was a special treat to groom and ride the horses and milk the cows and feed the animals. Such a blast! We will be back soon.
