Hacienda 6 Palms has great views of the Palomar mountains. It’s an elegant working olive ranch with a newly planted vineyard with olive, citrus, fig, guava, pomegranite, avocado, and loquat trees, and coffee with lots of privacy in which we are inviting guests to enjoy staying on a working small olive farm & vineyard. The property has a spacious and private fenced and walled 3 acres with 2 gates and is right off of the road, so you won't need to off road.
THE RV GARDEN - One entrance gate is specifically for RVs and has its own private driveway, a parking space for a 30' or under RV and plenty of room for 1 car. It has it's own garden area under oak trees and views of the mountains via the romantic garden. There is a teak table & 6 chairs with an umbrella, and a stainless steel BBQ grill in the RV garden under the oak trees which can be used so you can enjoy time outside of the RV and in the good weather. Their is also a swing hanging from the oak tree.
The RV garden has plenty of water spigots nearby and an electrical panel for RVs with 20 and 30 amps.
Right now there is no black water emptying capability so please make sure your tanks can hold everything during your stay. Please don't come and go with your RV as that involves pulling out into traffic. To help minimize the amount of water which goes into your tank, you can take showers in a really neat "Joshua Tree" style outdoor shower with hot water on the east side of the house overlooking the mountains.
The ranch is nearby a lot of attractions such as the San Diego Safari Park Zoo, Temecula and Ramona wineries, the beaches of Carlsbad, not far from La Jolla, and only 30 minutes north of San Diego. A lot of hiking trails are nearby: You can bike or walk to Daley Ranch and Stanley Peak. Potato Chip Rock is 30 minutes south.
You can conveniently walk to the Market in Hidden Meadows which is a small marketplace Deli for gourmet sandwiches, pizza, salads, breakfast, coffee, and to pick up some wine.
There is good cell phone coverage on the mountain so you can use your cell phone and tether your devices from it.
It is Southern California, so there is a host of natural wild life on the mountain top here. That includes a lot of cute rabbits and squirrels, owls, and an abundance of wonderful spectacular birds who enjoy the 3 fountains on the property. Yet, it also sometimes includes coyotes, bobcats, scorpions and rattler snakes. Please walk the grounds with caution.
The property is 3 acres and the terrain is quite rocky. Your booking a stay here indicates that you have read all of the above and will keep a careful eye on everything to make sure you are safe. The property is surrounded by a wall on all sides except on the border with the ranch next door, so it is very secure.
THE RV GARDEN - RV hookup with 20 and 30 amps electric, water, teak table, 6 chairs, and an umbrella, a stainless steel BBQ grill, a swing, and access to the Joshua Tree style outdoor shower with hot water, and access to the two hammocks under the oak grove by the Mesa. The listing states a maximum of 2 people. However, children and family members staying in your RV are fine so don't worry about the number of children you bring with you when they are staying in your RV.
The Mesa - for Camper Vans.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE DO NOT BOOK SITE #2 BEFORE EMAILING ME FIRST as I only occasionally rent it out.
The Mesa - is a beautiful flat area near the main house among the fig and guava gardens. It is nearby the cactus garden and the romantic garden with a cafe table and chairs and nestled within a beautiful oak grove with two hammocks under the oaks, under which is a cute pathway leading down to a teak table and chairs which has a chandelier above the table coming down from the oak trees, which, along with all of the landscape lighting adds to the beauty at night. There are a lot of boulders to enjoy sitting on and next to. It is available for very limited and occasional moments and perfect for SMALL CAMPER VANS. It has water and access to a 110 electrical outlet. It is for only for small camper vans and also extremely small RVs like smaller retro RVs.
THE YURT - Please book the yurt via our separate Yurt Listing on HipCamp! If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Everything about our stay at Hacienda 6 Palms was easy! We stayed at the beautifully landscaped Mesa site for three peaceful nights in our Sprinter Van. Returning to the property each night after a long day of exploring San Diego felt like coming home. We took advantage of the hot outdoor shower under the stars, ate our dinners al fresco, and watched our son happily race his toy cars down the boulders that dot the property. Todd was incredibly welcoming and always there to answer any questions we had. We definitely hope to be back!
Continues to be great...
This is my second review. Todd continues to be a great host and has a wonderful place, which conti ues to get better every day as he adds new amenities to the sites. See my previous review for local activities. Would highly recommend.
Great spot for a work/play vacation
We stayed at the RV site with our travel trailer. Todd was a great host, and both he and the gardener kept the beautiful grounds immaculate. Our site was private and the power and water hookups worked great. Cell coverage was strong (4 of 5 bars, Verizon) and allowed for streaming video or remote work. We explored the nearby hiking/biking trails, as well as walking down the hill to check out the markets, pizza, cafe and bar. We also liked that, although the site was up on a remote-feeling hillside, everything we needed was nearby, and we frequently made the half hour drive out to the beaches in Carlsbad, Encinitas and all up and down the coast.
Like coming home!
We stayed in the Mesa location at the beginning of our trip around California, visiting National Parks. The first stay was so great that we knew we wanted to spend the last few days in California with our 25ft Sprinter rental camper van back in the beautiful, relaxing space - and Hacienda 6 Palms delivered again.
As we pulled up, I commented to my wife it felt like we were coming back home.
Todd continues to be an excellent host and the views (unsurprisingly) were as amazing as before. We hope to make staying at the Mesa a regular stop for future California excursions.
Relaxing, beautiful stay
Todd was an excellent host, providing clear directions, and a level place to stay with our 25ft Sprinter conversion van for a few days of work and relaxation. The mesa location offered gorgeous views of the valley, a secluded/romantic garden, and a larger area for setting up my laptop for the few days I had to work. Cell signal for both AT&T and T-Mobile were excellent, and Todd's wifi was able to reach inside our van.
The fit was a little tight for our Sprinter, but we were able to get in/out every day fairly easily for our various trips to nearby restaurants, grocery stores, etc.
Todd has put a ton of work into the property, and it shows! Everything was clean, easy to get to, and just a joy to be around. We'll definitely be looking to book again in the future.
Extraordinary grounds, thoughtful accommodations and appropriate supplies.
Todd’s vision for this property is spot on.
We rented the MESA site and the yurt. Nice walking path between sites.
Todd was helpful with good communication. The site (1) was great - beautiful landscaping and everthing just worked. Would definitely recommend to others visiting the San Diego area.
Feels like you are Camping in a private arboretum
Grounds are beautiful and meticulously cared for.
Varieties of trees ( olive , fruit oak …)and cactus gardens tucked into large boulders .
Camped on a very spacious and quiet Mesa site near the Host’s hacienda.
Great directions and make sure you have gate code before you go.
