Come stay at our rustic campsite under some large oak trees next to a little open area by an ecological pond on our working ranch!  With 54 acres for our horses and avocados, we welcome guests to camp on a somewhat private part of the ranch (on occasion, equestrians may ride by). We can accommodate up to 8 more campers depending on the group type. We love welcoming families to the ranch, but like to approve larger groups ahead of time!

At the campsite you'll find picnic tables, a fire pit for small fires, and running water.  Minimal 110 Volt electrical outlet is at the campsite.  There is a fully functional unique bathroom made out of a converted horse trailer with a toilet and sink a few hundred yards from the site. Walking around the property, you'll see an activity barn and a historic 19th century cottage which houses a private library. Permission may be granted for entry if requested. There is an outdoor shower at the campsite with cold water only. Some firewood may be provided at no cost.

Campers, making reservations during months when the otherwise beautiful weather becomes cooler, should be aware that because of the proximity of a wind machine which makes a noise like a helicopter about 300 yards away from the campsite, on a neighboring property may interrupt an otherwise peaceful and quiet experience.  The wind machine comes on automatically when the temperature drops below 37 degrees so that avocados in the orchard do not suffer from a freezing temperature.  This machine probably might turn on maybe 7 nights in a year and only during the cold winter months.

Headlamps are a great idea, otherwise, flashlights for sure.  Minimal 110 V. electricity at campsite.  The library and restroom a little ways away from the campsite have lighting but it is very dark between the campsite and those facilities.

We are located only two miles to the ocean beaches and about a mile to a major shopping center. UCSB is just minutes away. Bicycling is very easy as all roads and access are flat.

This is my second trip to the campsite. This time I brought a bunch of Cub Scouts. It is a perfect place for a gentle introduction to camping. The site is quite large, has great shade, does not have the potentially annoying neighbors keeping you up at night, and perhaps most importantly a really Excellent bathroom. The only downside is that you have to drive to get to any hiking trails. However there is a really nice easy walk/hike about five minute drive away. There was plenty of firewood available both right next to the generous fire pit and around the property. The kids were also excited to see a few horses walk through the campsite and owners let us pet the horses. There were nine of us for the first night, and I did not feel crowded at all. I would guess the campsite can accommodate at least 20 people comfortably.

Gracewood is a quirky horse and avocado ranch. It was nice to be on our own at the site and have the space to ourselves. The host had left firewood for us and check in was easy and friendly. There are plenty of picnic tables at the campsite and the site is under trees, which is nice for shade. There is running water, an outlet and sink for doing dishes, which are all great.

The place is a bit dated and it feels pricey for what it is. The facilities could definitely do with a little TLC. We were charged an extra $40 for bringing our daughter which pushed us over 4 people...definitely a lot of money for one night of camping. The toilet is quite a walk from the campsite. It is the most expensive Hipcamp we've stayed at and seems overpriced for what it is.

But it was nice to be on our own and next to the avocado trees, and we did enjoy the peace and privacy of the site.

Our time at Gracewood was Magical! The space had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The site is spacious and decorations of vintage furniture make it uniquely charming. We didn't have any issues with bugs as some others have mentioned. The location is close to all the major spots you would want to see in SB and you get way more bang for your buck staying here vs. a hotel. Don't hesitate to book!

We spent 2 nights at Gracewood. It was very private, with lots of space for tents. We loved the bathroom.
