Second time here
This was our second time staying here. Our first was back in May and then we stayed at Goose Nest.
I chose Egrets this time because its an easy pull in/out for our camper van. And for the proximity near the water. We could drop our kayak in right from our spot. Albeit the river is definitely lower than in May due to the drought 😔. But still enough water to kayak, see the fish and visit the cows while on the peaceful waterway. Love the quiet out there. And star gazing is fantastic.
We ordered the focaccia bread again, which is delicious. And can't wait to cook up the eggs--they're so pretty, I almost don't want to ruin them.
Thanks for another wonderful stay... we'll be back.
Lovely camping spot, cows grazing across the stream, wide open spaces with a sky that goes on for ever. The campsite was well taken care of, and the extra supplies (firewood, goat ice cream) were easy to grub on the way in. Definitely will camp here again.
Egret Nest was a delight! The campsite was tranquil, private, and surrounded by lovely farmland. We loved watching the sun set over the cows and horses in the pasture across the creek. We will definitely be back soon.
Loved it! Quiet, serene, and a perfect spot to make camp for day trips to Point Reyes. We especially enjoyed the composting toilet — using it was clean, easy, and an overall great experience. We also loved the variation in weather throughout the day — we had the pleasure of soaking in some beautiful foggy mornings as well as clear and colorful sunsets. The sounds of cows, chickens, and sheep only added to the Estero’s charm. The Prius made it across the grass roads just fine. We would highly recommend staying at Emily and Guido’s beautiful corner of the Estero!
Camping with the cows
We had an amazing experience staying at Egret Nest! Camping next to a river with cows coming to visit every evening was really special. The farm fresh eggs were a delicious addition :)
Getting to the campsite is an easy drive from the SF area. There are several other campsites on the ground, but they are spread far enough apart where you can barely hear anyone else. I would happily return for another weekend of camping!
Beautiful and serene
Loved the peacefulness, so gorgeous with sun breaking through fog on hillsides. Emily and Guido take excellent care of their land and their guests. And their farmstand is beautiful. Looking forward to our blueberry patch raised, fresh eggs! We hope to return!
Magical little spot
We were so excited about our camping trip to Egret Nest, one that was filled with big expectations as we have had a very hard time finding camping areas in the past year that were not overcrowded. WOW! Our experience at Egret Nest went beyond our expectations!
Communication from the beginning to the end of our trip with Guido and Emily was spot on. They answered all questions we had promptly. Booking through the site was super easy as well.
Egret Nest was a gem of a camp spot - peacefully placed near a running stream that all sorts of birds visited as well as dragonflies and fish jumping out to eat the bugs. We could also hear frogs crocking. Did we mention cow-tv? It was so fun seeing all the cattle on both sides of our camp spot - better than any TV.
The camp spot was very clean and it had a fire-ring which was great for grilling over as well as sitting by the fire and stargazing later in the evening. The skies are dark and the stars are bright.
We were really impressed with the compostable toilet in the wooden out-house. We camp a lot and most often the bathrooms at spots are a mess. This was spotless!
Be sure to order provisions ahead of time. We purchased steaks which we grilled and enjoyed farm fresh eggs in the morning. Be sure to stop by their little farmstead store as it is really cute and full of goodies you can purchase. We went back for gelato but it was sold out. Next time!
We cannot wait to visit this magical spot again soon.
