The Speakeasy Lodge was an amazing stay. Jim is a gracious and friendly host, who made us feel right at home. He was very responsive and made sure that we had everything we needed. Would recommend to anybody looking to get away. I'm sure we'll be coming back.

Unlimited firewood, giant grill that makes it easy to cook for a large group of people, flat land to camp out on, clean outhouses, refreshing cold water shower available, plenty of contained trash bins... All of this is great but what makes this place special.... is the clear view of the Milky Way. It was so worth it!

There was plenty of space for our group of 20 that also included a few small children running around. There are tables there but bringing a few extra tables, benches/chairs and an EZ-up was helpful in being able to congregate where we wanted.

Jim had 2 ice chests there and you could get ice a ways out from a local store on the way. The small freezer was a good temperature. The fridge temperature wasn't as cold but it worked for us.

It was super clean when we got there but after we unpacked the food and everything, a lot of flies came and stayed the entire afternoon around the grill area and kitchen. I would be careful to neatly contain everything and make sure all food/drinks put away to limit the amount of flies. They went away at night.

We went in September and it was pretty hot in the afternoon. Nobody wanted to go hiking then so it was nice to have board games and the indoor lodge to sit in to escape the sun. Wish we had brought a hammock or something to nap in.

You can request power to be turned on at certain times and pay per hour. The outlets are super high up though if you need to charge anything so I would bring an extension cord or longer power strip.

There were some cleaning supplies available but the sponge was very old and the dish soap was a random assortment so if you are mindful about that kind of stuff, be sure to bring your own!

Overall, it was a fun stay at the Speakeasy Lodge and Jim was a great host. Would love to go again in cooler weather.

The Speakeasy Lodge is one of the most unique rentals I’ve ever stayed at. This was my second time. It’s epic for a group campout and has all the vibes. Having the kitchen and bbq really makes group cooking easy, the lodge is amazing, and the pool is a great add on during warmer days. Jim is also super helpful and friendly.

Speakeasy Lodge is a great space to get away with a small group of friends/family. The scenery is beautiful and the nighttime sky amazing. Having basic amenities (water, restrooms, trash, fire pit, big BBQ!, shade...) make camping super easy and comfortable fore everyone.
Jim is a great host - very easy to communicate with and accommodating to our needs.

Held a 25 person birthday party at this campsite and had a wonderful time due to Jim and the campsite. Location was nice and large, gorgeous sunrise/sunsets, and the neighbor campsites were far enough where it felt private.

Lots of areas to set-up multiple tents on flat land, but also has sleeping pads for groups that prefer to sleep inside.

All the amenities were fantastic (shower, kitchen area, and outdoor bathrooms were all clean and sanitary). We were able to cook multiple meals on the outside grill with no issues. Highly recommend to keep the fire going all day once you get it started in the morning so you can cook as you please.

We spent the whole day playing lawn games and going on hikes and enjoying ourselves. Overall, this was an epic weekend and would recommend this to all my friends. I think we may make this an annual trip, that's how much fun it was. Thanks Jim!

What an incredible property! We contacted Jim to discuss our group's needs and after a very friendly conversation, we decided to drive up to Songdog Ranch to check it out.

Our first impression was just how vast the property is and the views, simply stunning from atop the mesa. Jim took us up to the lodge and gave us the full history. Then asked us to join him in his razor to tour the rest of the mesa. We booked it on the spot. It turned out to be exactly what our group of 30 needed. There is a ton of space for tents, plenty of parking for cars, RVs can easily get up the hill, and the lodge is so big that all 30 of us could have slept inside it if the weather turned bad. There is also a wood burning stove inside that brought the temp up to the high 70s indoors at night.

There are 2 kitchen areas. 1 inside the lodge and 1 outside. The one outside has a 15'x4' Santa Maria Grill, lots of counter/prep space, a 3 burner propane unit and running water. The indoor one has lots of storage and running water.

I could go on and on about how great the property is, but then I would likely have a hard time booking it in the future when I need it.

Lastly, you will read reviews that talk about Jill and Gypsy, the ranch's dogs. Gypsy is a beauty of a German Shepherd and Jill (I believe a Blue Heeler). Jill stayed with us almost the entire trip. She even slept inside the lodge with some of the guys one night. Both very friendly and happy. They protect the mesa too. One night as we settled in, Gypsy laid down at the door of one of our tents. When the coyotes came into the camp late at night, she began barking at them, which queued up Jill and both of them ran the coyotes out of the camp. After they were done, Gypsy came back and laid down at the door of the tent again. Such a great addition to our trip. Ps. don't forget to throw the ball for Jill!

Great spot, and the photos do not do it justice. It was even better than we were expecting; the lodge was spacious and had everything we needed for an off-the-grid weekend with our relatively large group. Tons of space all around for everyone to set up their tents, and just beautiful surroundings. Jim was super helpful in guiding some of our friends up to the site and was great with communication throughout our stay. Highly recommend.
