We had an amazing stay at Songdog! Jim stopped by to say hello in the morning and we had a riveting round of catch the stick with a local pup :-) . We will be returning as soon as we can! It does get pretty chilly in the evenings, so stock up on firewood. Thanks for having us, Jim!
I stayed at Camp 4 West site for an overnight solo camping, and it was exactly what I needed - a tranquil, serene getaway from hustle bustle of city life.
Jim’s Campground is very well maintained. There is a picnic table, a fire ring, and a couple of chairs to sit by the fire (nice touch!). These days I try to practice “pack in pack out” philosophy but for those who like the convenience there’s a trash bin set up as well.
Potable water is available and several outhouses (super clean) are located on the ground.
The sunset was gorgeous, and I had a great time reading a book by the fire in the evening, and watching and listening to birds in the morning.
Thank you, Jim, for sharing your beautiful place with others!
Wonderful camping spot
I had site #3 which looked over a beautiful valley. The toilet was very close by and the site had everything I needed. There was a fire pit, picnic table, chairs, and tables. I was able to get decent service there with Verizon.
We had a great time at Songdog Ranch! The host, Jim is a cool guy. We were able to purchase additional firewood from him when we were running low. There are several sites on the property but each site has a good amount of space and is relatively private. We arrived after dark but the directions were clear and we were able to find the site without an issue. I was driving a low sedan and had plenty of clearance on the dirt roads. Outhouses were very clean and a large trash bin was provided. The views were amazing. I would book again for sure.
What can I say! It’s always pleasant to stay at Songdog.
The only downside is a perceived uptick of party crowds – people don’t realize bass carries pretty far in the desert (which is not Jim’s fault). Ladies and Gentlemen, there might be tired kids on the neighboring campsite, ramp down your rave around midnight. At least this crowd reacted pleasantly and respectfully when I did my Karen routine and asked them to quiet down a bit at 3AM.
Thanks for the jumpstart on Sunday Morning Jim!
Perfect weekend trip
We did a weekend girls camping trip for my birthday, and this was the perfect spot. The campsites are huge (we were on site #1). Plenty of space for our 4 cars and 3 tents (and definitely room for more). The shade from the covered picnic table was a lifesaver as it was pretty warm during the day. The views were amazing, even with smoke in the air from the wildfires. Jim provides firewood for $1 per piece, along with matches, kindling, and lighter fluid, if needed. Recommend bringing a hammer/mallet for your tent stakes as the ground is pretty hard (we forgot ours and had to improvise). Only downside was the outhouse ran out of toilet paper, but we had brought some so no biggie. We will definitely be coming back for another trip!
Sunset, sunrise and campfire songs.
Jim was the ultimate host! He greeted us upon arrival and gave us guidance as to the facilities and amenities. Small world as it appears my neighbor has been a regular there for many years.
The campsite exceeded all of our expectations and we were all extremely pleased at how many features and amenities there were provided. Well water from a tap with a dog dish and hose bibs, fire pit with grill, covered dining table bench with hooks and room for our cooking table, bathroom nearby and the views- whoa! Sunrise and Sunset were incredible. Well, it was amazing and we lucked out with the full moon. plenty of flat land for multiple tents and the mesa was very quiet. Played guitar by the campfire and had a great night's sleep listening to the coyotes.
Jim came by the just before sunset and made sure we we were all good. Truly a magnificent option if you want peace, serenity and views! I would recommend to anyone needing a break or stop over for a road trip. Super value!
The campsite was very peaceful, quiet, and clean. The view on top of the campsite is very clear and the weather is decent. The host, Jim, is cheerful and very kind to every customers. I’m definitely coming back there again.thank you
This is the spot!
Songdog is probably one of my favorites hipcamps! The views were perfect. Each camp site is massively spread out giving you a great sense of privacy. The toilets were very clean. Totally coming back.
