Scenic, clean, private
Very pretty campsite. About 200 yards from next sites. Everything beautifully maintained and even communal toilets were just great!
Check the weather since it can get a bit windy - first day it was windy but second day no wind at all. I came in October and so be prepared with cold weather gear! Had a lovely stay, scenery is quiet and majestic. Jim is really nice he came by to check and we had a great chat!
Jim is the best!
This is my third time at Jim place and he’s the best host!
The sites are clean, the view is nice everything is perfect!
You’ll maybe have the visit of Jill ( the dog) in the morning she’s very cute too :)
Thank you again Jim for hosting us!
I didn’t get a chance to meet Jim and unfortunately it was a little cold for the cowboy pool. There are many places on Jim’s property to rent. Ballinger canyon is within a couple miles if you have dirt bikes or quads. Beautiful sunsets. $1 a piece of wood. He provides matches, lighter fluid, and kindling. I had cell service (T-Mobile) Nothing is really nearby so try not to forget anything.
The best hospitality and sunsets
This place is a slice of paradise away from fast-paced LA. We had the most amazing stay here! We got a flat tire on the way and pulled into Jim's place to stop. Jim immediately greeted us, let us borrow his lug wrench, checked in to make sure we were making progress on the tire, and had a beer with us while we waited for AAA. AAA never ended up coming, and Jim was SO kind to let us use his truck to bring all of our camping gear up to Draw Camp. The site itself was incredible; we rented a tub that was perfect to chill in during sunset, and the chairs/picnic area are huge pluses. Stargazing here is amazing, and you feel really removed from the city, even though it's only 2 hours from central LA. The best thing was definitely Jim's hospitality. He went absolutely above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed to enjoy our stay and get back on the road. Thank you Jim for your kindness! We will definitely be back.
Peaceful and quiet, with a great host and his helpers. Sunset is absolutely beautiful. The road is sand and gravel, so if you're on a cruiser take your time. There are flies, bees, ants, coyotes, and other wildlife, but that's to be expected in the middle of nowhere.
Santa Barbara Pistachio Company and Cuyama Buckhorn provide good food, and friendly service nearby.
Sadly, my bike was acting up on me so I left early. I would have gladly spent another night falling asleep under the stars there. Thanks for the great time, Jim! (And keep him in line, Carole)
