Greetings from Cathy and Bill!! Over the last 24years, we have developed our 160 acre, off-grid homestead in the forested, coastal mountains of Mendocino California. We are delighted to share our lifestyle and to offer everybody a sweet, private spot in the woods next to our pond, where you can be free to explore the outdoors and observe the abundant wildlife in their undisturbed home. We walk lightly on the land we get to call home, and we expect our guests to do the same for this land we share with you is more home to the wildlife than it is to us.
We are family friendly and have excursions for you to meet our horses and goats, or tour our off-grid solar system. The pond site is located on a private, internal dirt road, which also provides for long, secluded walking or biking activities. The pond is big enough for small kayaks, paddle boards, and rafts if swimming is not your thing.
We have created one tent campsite that is van and truck camping friendly, and can take travel trailers max 16’ length. Yes, you read that correctly, one tent site ... absolute, complete privacy just for you!! Did I mention that town is less than 10 minutes from your campsite?
Come check it out! The homestead has much to offer: Eat from our organic garden, check out Cathy's handcrafted, Organic Insect Repellant. We are cannabis friendly 🌱, we like a chill vibe, and if you get the munchies ... Cathy handcrafts some delicious organic ice cream that we'll deliver to your campsite.

I’m not much of a camper but my son has been asking to go on a regular basis. Cathy and Bill’s place was so nice that I might be a camping convert! They were amazing hosts, greeting us and super responsive (not to mention phenomenal ice cream). We all slept really well, set up on their laser leveled site, with zero slope or bumps. Even the toilet was nice! Cathy and Bill have put so much thought and care into every aspect of their place and it shows. Highly recommend.
Wonderful hosts; delicious icecream
Kathy and Bill are wonderful hosts! I opted for the horse and pygmy goat encounter, solar tour, and the ice cream. I loved every moment and truly enjoy the little campsite they've developed. This is a great option for anyone wanting to learn more about off the grid lifestyles or just wanting to get away. You'll be close to Willits and I encourage you to check out their wonderful downtown.
Cathy & Bill are amazing hosts and we loved how the campsite was such a cozy spot in nature. We even saw lots of cute deer, a young black bear, and a coyote! We also took a wonderful tour of their off-grid homestead and met their lovely horses and pygmy goats. They've definitely inspired me to learn more about homesteading. I highly recommend staying here!
Nice campsite - definitely isolated. it should be made clear that the road to the spot is dirt with minimal gravel at the entrance. So if it's raining, which it was for me(heavy rain), this road is difficult to access without reassurance of 4wd.
My experience is probably different than most since it was pouring rain the whole time, but i did see a family of deer, and really nice sunrise through the clouds in the morning. The outhouse is nice, and the site itself was well built and did not flood at all.
The place was great with a lot of thoughtful touches. The outhouse view with the lavender inside, the spring fed water, the lantern on the table, and the pond! The peacefulness was soothing. Bill and Cathy were attentive hosts even jump starting my truck! The ice cream was tasty too. We will definitely stay again.
We enjoyed our stay. They did a nice job creating camp space. You can definitely still hear HWY 1, and many nearby dogs, but it is serene in view and in privacy. Convenient because it’s on the way to other places-and the hosts are easy to communicate with.
This is the first place I’ve stayed where I wanted to take the soap with me! Sweet little artisan soap offering. The Spring water is wonderful. No showering, but if it’s hot enough, the Spring is nice to rinse in. The pond could be swimable, but nature has its way and will take some work to clear the cattails. The dock though, was a wonderful leisure place and great for my yoga sadhana and asana practice.
We had the most amazing time here and will be back soon!
Bill and Cathy are great hosts, very friendly and responsive.
We did the horse/goat meet and greet and had so much fun. The horses were so friendly, we fed them and brushed them. We also learned about their solar panels and how they created their homestead. We got their homemade ice cream which was the best I’ve ever had!
My family of 4 stayed here and we had plenty of room for multiple tents that were in the shade. We enjoyed seeing wildlife in the pond and nearby. We saw a family of deers and turkeys. The compostable toilet was beautiful. It was clean and very close by.
We cannot wait to return!
