#9 Pueblo Canvas Mini Glamping Tent on Creek

PLEASE NOTE THIS SITE WAS CONVERTED TO A MINI-GLAMPING TENT EFFECTIVE 8/30/2020.  PREVIOUSLY IT WAS A CANVAS TENT WITH COTS.   TO SEE PICTURES OF A MINI-GLAMPING TENT LOOK AT SITE #10.

This site has a  10x12 tent on a platform and features openings on both ends with mosquito netting and also a window overlooking the creek.  The tent features a double bed and small table and has a hammock with a canopy outside.  Inside the tent we also have a small cot that is available for a child.   This particular site is located directly across the bridge from the lodge and restrooms but up along the creek at the end of the pathway.  You pass sites #4, #5, #6 and #6A to access this site.   It is at second to the end of the creek frontage next to #10 (also a mini-glamping tent).   Each camp spot has its own picnic table and a propane fire pit that is available for ambiance not cooking.  Large propane canisters are available for rent on site.  This site does not have electricity.  We allow dogs in the mini-glamping sites.  Only registered guests in #9 and #10 are allowed in this area.

Reservation considerations.  We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July land Labor Day.  Beginning in the 2021 season we do not do checkins on Sunday.  However, if you are on site and want to extend over Sunday night all you have to do is let us know in advance or during your stay.  If one weekend is booked looked to another weekend or you might consider a mid-week - Monday - Thursday visit.

This is a family private owned small campground (17 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, platforms with canvas tents and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. Our hallmark is our family teepee! We are all about tent camping – we do not allow travel trailers, campers or van camping.

We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe.  We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day.Tahoe is less than an hour away.We are dog friendly and love our pets but absolutely enforce leash laws to protect your pet as well as the other campers.Due to the nature of our mixed audience camp we also enforce our quiet period from 10 pm to 7 AM.

We have a lodge that is stocked with game tables and every game imaginable along with a ping pong table. The lodge has a Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups). We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection.  We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. The showers are nice and cleaned daily.

For outdoor activities we have basketball, volley ball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play.We also have many outdoor games for meadow play including a tug-a-war rope, gunny sacks, baseballs, gloves and a soccer net.We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings).  The common area has BBQs – both propane and charcoal as well as a cooking griddle (we also adding a campfire pit in the campfire bowl area for charcoal dutch oven cooking). We are in the wilderness so we have a cool room to store all food at night – yes bears live in the wilderness but avoid Camp.

The Creek starts out in the spring looking like a rushing river featuring lots of swimming holes and fishing. However, as the summer evolves it is more of a small creek even though we do dam a portion of it (goes up memorial day weekend and down after labor day usually ) for those that want to use floating devices  (starts out 6 feet and ends up closer to 3 feet). We do not allow individual campfires but have propane fire pits for ambience – not cooking.  It requires the purpose of propane on site.

We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historic towns with great eating establishments. There’s always something happened in downtown Placerville. To make things nicer for our guests we have the ability to rent a limited number of tents, cots, individual propane fire pits, BBQs, etc. - anything to make it easier for our campers.Come give our location a try – we think you’ll enjoy yourselves.

Checkin is between 4 and 8.  If you are coming from the Bay allow 4 hours - you must leave by 3:00 or 4:00 at the latest to arrive during checkin.  If you get delayed, for the consideration of the other campers you may consider waiting and arriving Saturday morning.   Going forward there will be no checkins after 9:00.

We had a great time at Camp Nauvoo. Greg was awesome, and took time to show us around, tell us about the hikes on the property and explain everything we needed to know. The grounds are beautiful. We rented a small tent #9 and it was perfect for just my husband and I. We spent a lot of time in our chairs by the creek. It rained one of the night of our stay and we had no water or leaking on us at all. My favorite part was hearing the water in the creek all night long. The bathrooms were clean and have showers, and have power and outlets for hair stuff if you need it. No cell service for us(AT&T) but we were there to disconnect so that was just fine with us. Great location close to town and Apple hill activities. We loved our stay and will visit again!

I went there alone for a nice getaway in nature. Greg was wonderful and even checked in on my my first night to ensure everything was good. I highly enjoyed my campsite, as it was right along the creek. I was lucky enough that I had that area all to myself so it was very peaceful and just what I needed. Also, I thought their hiking spot was wonderful. Easy 45 min - 1 hr depending how fast you go. I also stop a lot to take videos/pictures. I would highly recommend you check this place out!

Absolutely wonderful stay at #9 and Camp Nauvoo as a whole. Perfect little summer camp weekend getaway with all the amenities you could need. I'll give you the couple things I would love to pass on to other campers about #9 first then continue my glowing review after.
#9 and #10 are identical little glamping canvas tents that are quite close to each other. If you happen to have another couple that you can wrangle the same weekend with, you could snag a really great little secluded nook at the edge of camp nauvoo with noone bothering you or walking through your camp. We had nice neighbors who were very friendly so we had no trouble at all with that, but I could see how it'd be annoying if they were loud and obnoxious. Second, I wouldnt call the bathroom far....but its a good 5 min walk past the other camps. Not a big issue, but would not be ideal if you are someone who needs to get up to pee several times a night, especially considering its a cold walk in the middle of the night and theres no quick pee outside your tent since you are right next to another camp. The bed was truly amazingly comfortable and warm on a cold night. We especially loved rolling up the wide window flap early in the morning and just watching the stream running just next to your tent. In June, it was flowing beautifully day and night, giving a nice babbling brook ambience lulling you to sleep. In the daytime, we did nothing but post our chairs about shin deep in the creek. Phenomenal area to relax, read a book, have a beer, whatever, in the warm sun and cool creek. Greg was a kind and helpful host. 10/10 will come back.

We had such a good time at this camping site! As someone who has spent many nights on camping trips against the cold ground with rocks for pillows, this was a welcomed level of comfort for our family of three. The site was very private and the sound of the creek created a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. The picnic table and food box were extremely convenient as were the restrooms and dish washing sink a minute's walk away. After doing some hiking, we took a drive to Apple Hill. We didn't want to go home and will definitely be back.

Even with smoke all around us this camp offers a cool light creek breeze keeping the air breathable. Tent and furnishings are comfy and the sound of the creek day and night is very calming. Bats at night, owls hooting, hawks screeching, deer and other assorted critters and birds round out a very nature filled stay. And the water is cool and clear. We've stayed twice in #10 and this was our first time in the new #9.

We're new to camping, so it was great to start with the platform tent. It was about 12 feet from the stream, so we fell asleep to the sounds of the water. Beautiful area, plenty of stuff for kids to do, and the hosts were very attentive, helpful, and nice! We'll be back for sure.
